Asuncion Ridge Vineyards & Inn

After a wonderful day of wine tasting, this place really ruined the magic. The lady, a women with red curly hair (she didn’t give her name along with any wine description), was absolutely cold and uninviting! We did not get one description of a wine, no origin, and really no conversation at all. Wine tasting is suppose to be fun, inviting, warm and welcoming, and most of all during a wine tasting you should get a description of what you are tasting. I will never go back to this place and would go out of my way to warn anyone to visit either. Of all the wonderful wine tasting places in Paso, this is not the place.

The woman who served us was not kind. The worst wine tasting experience of my life! I think the woman hated us and we did nothing to support her attitude. I am a local of Paso Robles and go wine tasting often. DECEMBER 20TH 2015

We went to a concert here, with a wonderful group of friends, we were surrounded buy good wine, great friends, and lovely food. There’s nothing like an evening with friends, and with that big piano playing, what a beautiful piece it is, and the incredible guitar player, it was a night to remember. I hope our friends have another birthday soon so we can have another big party.

Great accommodations, great views, great breakfast… What more could anyone ask for?! A fabulous inn… highly recommended. Thank you, Philip, for being the consummate host!

Janet poured us wine and was very rude and just wanted us out! I told her to skip the white wine since we don’t drink white. She poured us anyways and took it as one of our tastings. The wine was OK but there are many better in Paso. Janet … needs to retire!

Really nice people and good wine. Great place to wander into. Was really nice to find a wine bar open past 7! We liked the pinots in particular!

We spent the New years Eve Holiday at teh B&B on the mountain ridge. The only thing I can add to the other rviewes that the dinner and company were uniquely wonderful experiences as was teh rest of our stay. The location, rooms, common ares, views, cuisine and hospitality were pretty much absolutley perfect. No one should hesitate ever staying here.

This was a nice experience and the hostess was very welcoming, however she did not educate us very much on the wines provided and unfortunately for us, they were all reds and we are more interested in whites. They had a lot of reasonably priced gifts that I thought were nice, but the four of us don’t intend on going back, just not to our taste.

Wonderful wines here! I think they have some fantastic Pinot Noirs and I’m not even a big Pinot person. I absolutely love their Salacious, which is a GSM blend. It had been a while since I had enjoyed a GSM. They sometimes offer cheese pairings, which is nice company for the wine. Teresa is very knowledgeable and helpful!

This is our 5^th trip to Asuncion Ridge, and we will keep coming back!!! It is beyond compare! The location atop the Santa Lucia mountains is breathtaking. If you are looking to get away … you can’t get better than this! Views of Morro Bay, green rolling hills as far as the eye can see. The B&B itself is beautiful. So relaxing and comfortable you won’t even want to leave!!! We always go with two other couples, and when all three rooms are rented with the same party, Philip will cook a gourmet meal for the party. It is a MUST DO. He’s an incredible chef, and he pairs the courses with his incredible wines. This year, we surprised a friend for her birthday, and Philip was so helpful in our preparations. The dinner was delicious, and his wines deserve the awards they are receiving. Philip and Andy are SOOO wonderful! They feel like family now! Philip’s tasting room in Paso Robles is fantastic as well, and its convenient to some great restaurants. Philip knows all the best places!
The beautiful drive up to the B&B is a treat in itself, enjoy the grazing cattle along the way, the deer, wild turkeys and all the nature.
The rooms are so comfortable, and the breakfasts are always outstanding. His extra little touches are sure to impress!

Rather than going to the wine tasting machine with all of the bridesmaids, come try wine first, everything else second. Phillip’s Pinot has just won best overall in one of the largest competitions in the state.

Hands down the best tasting room in Paso. Winery at 2200 ft elevation near morrow bay with ocean view… which means one thing… Pinot! They just won first place in the Pinot noir summit in SF with over 440 pinos in the event. The 2010 estate Pinot is fantastic and deserves all the accolades… but…meet the people at the tasting room and you will see why this place is such a gem.

Lovely tasting room in historic downtown Paso Robles. The building used to be a pharmacy and has beautiful original woodwork still intact. Really enjoyed all of the wines; our server was very congenial and gave us great tips for our late lunch. They have a B&B w/​a view of Morro Bay; looks like a beautiful place to stay and decompress. Will definitely go back.

Not only did they impress with the location and décor of the tasting room (right next to the town square park), Theresa was a lot of fun, knowledgable, and even hand delivered our bottle to the Inn after work so we could go around town more!
The wine was amazing, and unlike others we found later, they didn’t charge extra for the cheese pairing they did that night.
Great staff, friendly, local personality, and service to make it a destination worth recommending.
Business wise, we were lucky to meet Phillip, the main man with the plan, who has a great story.
A New winery with a great product and people, that we will most definitely come to visit at the B&B next year.
(In fact, we will visit again tomorrow!)

Asuncion Ridge wines are delicious! The tasting room is a great place to hang out; it’s comfortable, dog friendly, and decorated with vintage style. Plus, there’s live music on Saturday nights. Philip is the man! Make sure to visit Asuncion Ridge when you get the chance — you will enjoy the experience!

This review is just for the wine tasting location — This place is right on the little park down town Paso Robles — open late — y’know, like past 5pm! I think they were one of the latest ones at 8pm!

We got a number of tastes and went home pretty pleased with a bottle of the Salacious!
Definitely some tasty wines, friendly staff and i look forward to tasting more or making the trek to the B&B

Spent 3 days at what I would call paradise! Philip has created the most romantic as well as the most spectacular B&B a person could ever want!
The views are spectacular no matter were you are in the Inn. The open «common areas» are beautifully decorated, warm & inviting to relax in. The bedrooms are spectacular, décor amazing as well as comfortable. The private patios off each bedroom as well as the main ones all have a beautiful view, perfect for relaxing with a glass of one of Philip’s AMAZING wines!
Philip not only created magic with his beautiful Inn and his amazing wines but he creates pure magic each morning with his «to die for» breakfasts!
A much needed romantic getaway became pure heaven here at Asuncion Ridge Inn.

Booked a room for my wife’s birthday based on reviews and we were not disappointed. The room/​bed was very comfortable and the house has been well designed for guests and is very well decorated. It was a little inclimate on Saturday due to a system that rolled through on the night before but on Sunday we got a great view as you can see all the way Morro Rock an the ocean.
Philip was a great host and made a couple of awesome breakfasts and in the evening he puts out a sampling of his fine wine which we enjoyed so much we brought about a case home after visiting the tasting room in Paso. It’s just under a 20 minute drive upfrom 101 but well worth it.
Do yourself a favor a book a stay at the Asuncion Ridge Inn. You’ll avoid the hotel crowds, get an awesome view of the Central Coast, great food and wine and some relaxation. Plus it’s an easy drive into Paso if you want to sample some of the local eateries for dinner.

Phillip has created a beautiful Italian-​style retreat which makes the adventurous drive (definitely arrive in daylight) all the more worthwhile. There’s three rooms each with a private patio, which is in addition to the many separated patios on the house. I really appreciated the design – you can have as much privacy as you want, given the layout of the interior and exterior rooms. A bottle of Asuncion Ridge’s excellent pinot was open for the guests on arrival and in the evening, Mr. B. and I sat outside to enjoy the incredible stars-​and-​sattelites show with a complimentary glass of port. Truly heaven.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, Mr. B. mentioned not feeling well which unfortunately ramped up to intense agony within five minutes. Phillip truly went above and beyond the call of innkeeper-​duty; he gave directions to 911, stayed calm, and kept his wits about him (unlike me) during this incredibly scary and upsetting experience. Long story short, Mr. B. was experiencing the not uncommon pain of passing a kidney stone (separate Unilocal review for Twin Cities Hospital and Atascadero’s fire dept. and ambulance service coming…), so while the pain was intense, the whole surreal ordeal was over by the end of the afternoon.
We were able to return to Asuncion Ridge in the evening, take a relaxing soak in the huge tub, and even have a little wine while visiting with the other couple who were also staying there. Even without Phillip’s amazing assistance and kindness during the kidney adventure, Asuncion Ridge was deserving of 5 stars. Now if only Unilocal awarded medals…
