Get an estimate in writing before you authorize any work. Read that again.
I assumed I was getting a simple time and material charge for about 20 minutes worth of work to fix a leak. Nearly $ 400 later I had re-​learned that important lesson. Don’t get me wrong, they fixed the problem, and it was all my bad to not get an estimate first. I am just trying to give a warning to others that you might be surprised if you do not get an estimate that you can live with before green lighting any work.

I had a roof leak repair and it was MY mistake in not getting an estimate up front. They did good work, but the flat rate charged far exceeded what I expected to pay for the time and effort that was actually involved. Be sure to get a cost estimate before authorizing any work.
