Wow, elite! What an event to kick off my new Unilocal elite status! I really liked that it was a more intimate event, so I could get to know some fellow Unilocalers and it was really cool that we got to share some of the new menu items they had. The deconstructed guacamole was beautiful– perfect slices of avocado, tomatoes, a cilantro sauce on top, meant to be eaten with fresh tortilla chip wedges. It was a little cumbersome to eat, but very delicious. Numerous flavors of buffalo wings came out next– huge meaty wings, each sauce was more delicious than the rest! And then the main course– the burger. I got the special burger of the month– the gyro burger. My +1 got the b-b-b-bacon(she had to pronounce it like that when ordering!) and we split our burgers to try both(cuz that’s how we do it!). Both were excellent, but I managed to only eat a quarter wedge of each, I was so full at this point. Some sides also came along with the burger– fries with bacon ketchup, sweet potato fries, onion rings and fried pickle chips. I was a bit addicted to the pickle chips– salty, fried, crispy and sour. Delicious! Thank you Katie, Nitar and slaters 50⁄50 for a great night! Can’t wait for the next event!

I was lucky enough to get to go meet some other Fresh Meat at this intimate event. The food was the kinda grub that you just wanna kick back and eat while catching a game. Slater’s 50⁄50 is a great place to do those things. * The deconstructed guac was delicious. Great chunks of avocado, tomatoes, and corn with some cilatro and spice. * The sriacha wings were good… nice and juicy, but not as spicy as I was hoping for. * The peanut butter wings were also juicy. It didn’t taste too peanut buttery, but that hint of flavor was there. It was accentuated by the side of jelly sauce. * The 50⁄50 burger was my favorite bite of the night. The mix of beef and bacon in the patty was nothing like I’ve had before, and the meet was juicy and flavorful. The bread was soft yet sturdy enough to hold up to the burger. The sauce, cheese, and egg were all wonderful accompaniments. My only gripe was the the sunny side up egg came with a very solid egg yolk. * The Flamin’ Hot burger was carne asada with fried jalapenos. The carne asada tasted a lot more like chorizo. Very flavorful, and yes… flamin’ hot. Things I love: 1) food 2) great service 3) meeting fun new people Thanks, Katie B., for putting this awesome event together so I can have the things I love in one spot!

A small intimate event with the other Elite newbs. Having been to Slater’s a few times already, I had to try the stuff off of Slater’s new menu, like Dr. Pepper Chicken Wings, Peanut Butter and Jelly Chicken Wings(say what!!!), and the California Burrito burger. The burger has grounded carne asada as the patty(tasted a little like chorizo), with guac and sour cream(basically a burrito), and FRENCHFRIES(!!!) on a bun. Great concept and delicious! Thanks Slater’s 50/50, Katie B, Nitar, and Unilocal for making us Elite newbs feel special. Shout out to everyone I met — Claudia and her +1(sorry didn’t catch your name), Jenn, Gina, Elaine and Carolyn — SYOY!

Thanks Katie B. for putting on a fabulous event yet again! It was a smaller Unilocal event but it was a lot more intimate which made meeting other Unilocalers and making new friends a lot easier. The food was good and all the good things I had heard about 50⁄50 Slaters were true. The fact that it was free helped a lot too. This event definitely reminded me why I love to stay active in the Unilocal community :)

Fresh Meat at Slaters? Who meeee? Great way to ring in the new year of 2014 with my very first Elite badge! Might have to print out a screenshot of my profile pix with my Unilocal badge and frame it somewhere in my room! I have to make sure I smile really big! :D Tonight was my 2nd elite event in two days, but felt tonight was the most intimate of them all. I was able to meet new elite Unilocalers and had the pleasure to get to know Katie B. and Nitar more. They are wonderful human beings. With that said, the show must go on to my experience of eating burgers! hahaha I know in the past I said that sharing is for the devil, but nights like these bring out the sharing side of me. Yes, I’m a softie at heart. I was exposed to three lovely burgers tonight: 1) FRITOSCRUNCH(Nitar’s) — Brandt beef, bacon American cheese, bacon turkey chili, Fritos, 1000 island, brioche. Yummerz, anything with fritos is awesome in my book 2) CALIFORNIABURRITO(Katie B’s)-carne asada fire beef, cotija, Slater’s fries, guacamole, salsa, cilantro lime sour cream, brioche. Oh man, what a burger. It was good, but it hit me like a ton of bricks afterwards! Can’t say no to guacamole and sour cream! 3) FLAMIN’ HOT(Your’s truly)-carne asada fire beef, pepper jack, beer battered jalapeño, roasted green chile, chipotle adobo mayo, brioche. This bad boy hit the spot. You can feel the heat, but it makes this burger just right. We were planning to try the 50 Alarm(has ghost peppers), but we decided not to. Nitar was saying how we need to «Go Big! Or Go Home». My body will thank me to go home with a content tum tum instead of landing in the restroom! :) Loved this event and all the people that I was able to get to know. Hope everyone had fun! Cheers and Beers! :)
