They have to be paying for Unilocal reviews because I went to this place and they complained that taking off my gel manicure took too long! Like literally the girl kept saying why would I go to the last place because they made my nails «too thick». Then their gel manicure chipped in 4 days. Pretty sure they are getting Unilocal reviews off of family or something because everyone had a bad attitude when I went in there.

Before I start my review I should clear up a mythical «highlight» of this place: they don’t offer beverages and they don’t give free massages. Either that or the review is outdated and/​or they’re the Asian equivalent of an «Uncle Tom» i.e. One who caters to those who are not their racial ethnicity and treat those who are racially similar, poorly (in this case despite the fact that I tip better than anyone I’ve seen while I’ve been here).
I really wanted to like this place as evidenced by my prior review. I have always left a 20%+ tip for my nail techs, and still left a tip despite my injury. I had just touched down after a 20 hour plane ride from a fourth world country (where I also was in a habit of charitable tipping/​straight up giving, which likely explains why I was still in tip mode, even after the injury I received) with serious jet lag but it has been 3 weeks since my last manicure and my nails grow at an exponential rate so I needed a manicure badly ASAP.
For the first time I had Michelle do my nails (who I know from the reviews on here, is the owner). If you have her, I highly recommend requesting someone else. It’s likely she will troll this review in defense — but there is no defense for the carelessness I will describe below.
Due to the fact that I was so exhausted/​jet lagged, and the fact that the human body releases natural «pain killers» the moment it experiences pain, I did not mind too much at the time that she somehow managed to bleed flesh above the cuticle of my left pinky — twice. She went over it roughly and bled it by blunt force of the edge of the nail filer… I’ve been told my skin is really soft by one of the ladies there that did my manicure the first time… and when you apply liquid to it, the skin softens even further… the pinky is also small so it should have been handled with some care at least after the first injury.
I appreciated how she applies silk wraps really well — her younger associate’s technique was to cut exactly just the length of the breakage so once gel was applied there was a square «bump» that appeared. Michelle applies it entirely in the shape of the nail. She is really meticulous with each nail and does this crazy-​person eye «flashing» thing when she’s trying to focus… it obviously did not help. I was here for 2 rather than the average 1 hour I’ve had with more complicated manis here or elsewhere (mind you, there’s only 1 hour parking nearby). She also crookedly files your nail too much on your right side (if you scroll photos another reviewer mentions this too).
Therefore, while the injury to my pinky was not in any way intentional — it was a bit thoughtless considering she bled it not once… but twice? I think that maybe she should throw the towel in and leave it to the younger women after teaching them how to properly apply a silk wrap. Maybe it’s the quality of her eyesight, dwindling with age, and the fact that she seems out of touch with others’ pain tolerance.
Michelle is very unskilled with the final hand massage — not enough pressure (lol) so she applied lots of unnecessary pressure with the rigorous filing just on my pinky… everywhere else was ok… but her hand massages are quick & weak?
What brought me over the edge to update my review was not that she executed a perfectly good manicure all around which was spoiled by blood on a booboo’d pinky… it was her clear dishonesty.
I had just come back from a country where sellers would lose business entirely — all because they needed to get that $ 1 over you… they’d rather lose a lifetime of sustained loyalty well over thousand$.
For the silk wrap (not knowing I knew she was the owner) she said «it’s extra, $ 3 or $ 4 I don’t know» (laughs)…and I’m thinking, how could you not know, it’s your business?
An hour elapses and she, a guy and a female nail tech exchange words in Vietnamese and it’s $ 5 each wrap… I’m not in the mood to argue or be confrontational due to the aforementioned jet lag… and just deducted the difference in her tip which was the smallest tip I’ve ever given (about 8%). This AFTER the injury is what led me to NEED to update my review.
My coworker told me that my manicure isn’t even that complicated and her manicurist charges her a flat $ 5 for designs rather than per nail — my second job here (see, prior review) was $ 20 and this basic glitter ombré was $ 10 (consider how proportional to their $ 28 gel mani this arbitrary cost is). Yes, they tell you prices beforehand and I didn’t mind until I learned better. It’s like they think you won’t find out or know better. Well, I found out and they’ve lost out on a lot of money (gel mani+pedi with occasional designs and 20% tip every 3 weeks for a lifetime) just to run some fast ones on me because I’m nice.
2 young girls do exceptional work here. I recommend they take out a loan from friends, family and an institution and start their own salon with better talent and integrity because they definitely are very talented.

The guy in charge of scheduling was nice enough to squeeze me in for a gel manicure. His wife (I think they’re the owners) did my nails & she did an amazing job. The picture shows it all. There’s no massage chairs but I care about the quality of the nails more than anything.

Excellent gel nail art by Michelle! Somewhat hidden location but if you pick up a pastry & coffee from, Europane, just head next door to get your nails done. I really like that they don’t do acrylics so no noxious fumes while I’m there.

First time coming here today and got a mani-​pedi = $ 29 Overall I enjoyed my experience a lot! I will definitely come again. The atmosphere was casual: comfortable seating, relaxing music, some channel that was muted but still interesting to look at, service was done fast but careful. The two people that worked on me, Vincent and lily were very nice and gentle which is always a good! They have me a short massage both on my legs and my arms. They don’t have tables, they work on you in the comfy chair so your back is always relaxed you’re not leaning forward or anything. The only thing that I didn’t like was that my nail filing isn’t even, some of the nails weren’t filed symmetrically so they veer off to the side. Next time I’ll be sure to say to please file them evenly. That’s about it! Would come again.

1^st place I’ve ever been to to not have massage chairs & foot spa, HOWEVER, they have some very comfy chairs. It’s a cash only spot & there’s ATM inside just in case. Very clean with good hours (NOTE: they are closed on Mondays). The staff & owner are always very friendly & they do GREAT work. I have been there twice & haven’t been disappointed. I’ll be back soon

Pretty sure this place has been exchanging Unilocal reviews for discounts or something. Location is just like any other low cost SGV nail salon, nothing special.
I went for a pedicure over a year ago and still have toe pain from time to time from having a broken toe. So I guess you can give them credit for a «pedicure that lasts».
I’d instructed the manicurist not to use toe separators (use paper instead) as my toes are stubby but she did anyway. Was in pain for several days and visited my doc. Not much you can do for broken pinkie toes other than tape them up.
Had forgotten to post this review. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to someone else.
Updated. Owner’s reaction is priceless. You say only low cost salons use paper towel. No. Only low cost salons break people’s toes by using tow separators. Not all of us have long toes!

Amazing! I walked in with my boyfriend, my brother, and his girlfriend. Asked for four pedis. We were sat and they got to work! Service was fast but not messy. Brother, his girlfriend and my boyfriend were all experiencing their first time pedi and it’s safe to say they loved it and going to this nail salon definitely is what helped them love it. They walked out saying they felt brand new and their feet felt like another level of clean. This was my first time here and I’ve read about this salon before and I’m so glad I came here will come again for a mani pedi soon!

They do a really nice job here, quick, no frills, quiet, and helped me freshen up a gel French mani I grayed with heavy house cleaning (& chips). Albeit, on the pricey side for gel French mani + reg pedi = apx 55+ gratuity. But with service like I had today with my no charge refresh, I think I’ve found my new spot.

I’ve come here many times and this nail spot is one of my favorites. I love that they offer organic nail care at a reasonable price. Usually I get a mani pedi and they are efficient but thorough also.
It is family owned and CASH only. There is a parking lot for the plaza in the back as well. Careful though, if you go at night there is a valet with fee. (Approx $ 2)
Afterwards, there are little baskets with names of the estheticians along the wall to put the tip in.
I remember trying to do a themed look with different shades of purple on one hand, and they were very helpful and knowledgable about picking out the colors.
For the pedicure though, I didn’t use the massage chairs that other places have.

Found this place on Unilocal and have been three times now for my gel manicures and won’t be going anywhere else from now on! Beautiful work, perfectly shaped nails and great prices. The nail art is the best I have seen — just stunning. You can go in with a picture of what you want and they will reproduce it exactly as you asked. I also appreciate that I can sit there in total silence if I want to, and no one forces me into an awkward conversation. It would be nice if they featured something other than the horribly cheesy «Just for Laughs Gags» on their TV (some ridiculous show that I think is filmed in Montréal??), but you can’t have everything!

Today was my first time here and I had a wonderful experience so I thought I should write a review. I found this shop on Unilocal because I needed to find some place near me that was quick and they were the first shop I called. I was able to get an appointment right away for a mani/​pedi. Everyone was very nice, the shop is small but clean and comfortable. I was asked if I wanted the callous removal treatment (I needed it!) for an extra $ 8. In my past experience this extra service is a rip off but as I mentioned, I needed it so I decided to give it a go. I didn’t get the name of my nail technician but she did a great job with the treatment! They scrub your foot first, then apply a gel and place you in a plastic bag for a while, after that you get a vigorous scrubbing. Definitely worth the extra $ 8. Since I was not planning to get my nails done that day I did not have flip flops but at the end of my service the technician placed my shoes in a bag and very carefully put a pair of disposable flip flops on for me!
My only complaint, and this true of my shops, is that they only take cash BUT they have an ATM in the shop so you can get cash right there if you forget. I wanted to leave a larger tip but I was pressed for time and could only pay with the cash I had on hand. I will definitely be back though, so I will make sure to make up the tip then.

Spent $ 30 on a gel manicure here yesterday only to have it already chipping off today. Their sign says it’s guaranteed for 10 days and the gel manicures have had in the past from other places have never chipped which is why i pony up the dough for them. First and last time here.

I started working in Pasadena about a month ago and it was imperative that I find a good nail place. Well, VP NAIL CARE is IT! It’s been a week and my manicure has not chipped at ALL! Yes, the edges are a little run down, but it’s hardly noticeable! Not sure what kind of top coat they used, but it’s kind of miraculous! I got a regular mani ($ 13) before the Thanksgiving weekend and I was prepared for chipped nails after all the cleaning and cooking — but nope! They still look great! Linda was my girl and I look forward to my next visit!
(The other details: Back lot parking is $ 2 — note to self: park somewhere else! The facility is clean and comfy and you get to watch trashy soap operas with closed captioning.)

Love, love, love. First time here last weekend for the ritual pre-​bridesmaid mani-​pedi and so impressed.
Cleanliness: A+++. Love how they open the sanitary bag with their tools right in front of you.
Atmosphere: A+. No acrylic smell! (They don’t do them here, fyi.)
Professionalism: A++. Very nice staff.
Quality of work: A+++. Very detailed and precise. Exactly what I wanted.
If they added spa chairs, I’d want to move in.

Lately, I’ve become really obsessive over my nails and have been neglecting my poor little piglet toes for quite some time. Normally I do my toes myself and let me tell you! They have been taking a beating since I’ve had to wear high heels to work. Also, I tend to pick at my nails and so the only solution to that problem? A mani, duh! I’m less fussy when my nails look pretty I guess. After some searching on the net, my husband gave me the cash to get them done for my birthday. My first visit was back in April and I just recently came back for round 2.
The chairs aren’t your normal massage chairs with an attached soaking tub. You sit on a couch! It’s actually comfy for me, but I can see how some people dislike it. Michelle was in charge of my manis for both occasions and has done a fantastic job! I enjoy the fact that they take time and care and don’t over cut my cuticles.
For my first visit I did the gel manicure + French tip toes. I came on a weekday afternoon before everyone got off work so I was able to find parking right in front of the building. It wasn’t crowded and they took me in right away. The ordeal took more than an hour because I got designs on every single nail. FYI pricing for nail art ranges. If you get a design on every nail, $ 10 will be added to the total cost of the manicure. Single designs range from $ 2-​$ 4 depending on difficulty. Your tech will verify pricing with the manager first so always ask if you’re not sure on prices!
On my second visit, I got a regular pedicure with gel, but designs on only my ring fingers. My little Peter Pan collared shirt cost $ 4/​each. I came in around 10am on Sunday and it was packed. A lot of people got turned down because they had so many appointments stacked for the day. I highly suggest you either try coming when they open on weekends or schedule an appointment.
The only cons I have are that parking can be difficult sometimes and they only take cash. I do like that they have little baskets with each techs name for tips. This has now become my destination for a few hours of relaxation and pampering.

This place was pretty good. They were attentive and did a great job.
They don’t have the massage chairs with the foot soaking. They have individual tubs… much cleaner. Each tub is lined and filled with water. Then the water is dumped and bag is thrown away.
I didn’t give 5 stars because the parking situation. Either you drive around looking for parking or you have to pay for upstairs parking. And the cash only is a little inconvenient.

So, I called in around 11 on a Saturday and requested a 3pm appt and luckily Lily was available.
Lily worked on my hands while a male employee worked on my feet. Both were efficient. Lily totally understood what I wanted when I showed her my «ideal» manicure picture. We tried different colors, she was knowledgeable and helpful. My nails look amazing.
This business is very Unilocal-​oriented. Lily showed me pictures from Unilocal.Some other customers were talking about Unilocal too.

Only regular nail polish and gel. It makes the atmosphere a lot cleaner and less noisy.
For pedicures, they have plastic foot bath bins they bring to you, lined with plastic. Not the massage chair/​foot jacuzzi things.
For manicures you soak your hands in little pet food tin bowls lol. It works.
I think this place is very clean. The techs are great. It’s small, so I would advise making an appt since I saw several people had to come back at a later time.
Parking is kind of tough, but Lily had the male employee check if my tires had been marked at the 1hr street spot (it wasn’t!)
But it was so thoughtful and I totally appreciated it.
In total, my shellac manicure with cool designs and my cool pedicure came out to $ 60 but it was completely worth it. Not too bad either!
The design was $ 15 extra. (But I love it)
