My grandmother who is 90 years old is EXTREMELY hard to please and she was used to living alone in her beautiful home in Pasadena. It was crucial for us to find a place where she could make friends and live comfortably and that place is DEFINITELY Villa Gardens. She has lived there for over 10 years and loves it. She gets checked up on regularly, the food is good, the staff is amazing and attentive, and we could not be more pleased. I could not recommend it further.

My mother didn’t want to cook for herself, and didn’t want to live in a big, empty house. We checked a number of retirement facilities in and around Pasadena, and Villa Gardens was the best, in our opinion. It’s expensive, but it’s like being on a cruise ship. The dining room is clean and elegant. The menus are varied and you can even order a la carte if nothing on the menu pleases you. There are continuous activities. The library is bright, cheery, and well-planned. The staff is attentive, positive, and upbeat. Help is always available. My wife and I even stayed in one of the guest suites for a weekend, and it was up to hotel standards. The pool is great, and there are weekly pool exercise classes. There are weekly movies and presentations. A lot of the residents are ex-teachers, and some are ex-Caltech professors, so stimulating conversation is not lacking. My mother is happy there, and we can rest easy, knowing she is well cared-for.

Gramma is 98 and has landed in the rehab a few times. They are lovely to her, she says the food is better than her usual place and the garden is lovely. Certainly worth checking out if your relative needs care.

I like giving back to the community so I help out the elderly and visit them here. Lots of elderly Trojans living here and they throw Trojan get togethers during football season. It’s cute. One thing I did notice was the lack of Asians in this place. I guess it’s a cultural thing.

If I grow old and my kids wants to send me to a skilled nursing facility, I would want to stay here. Why? It’s luxury!!! This facility is very clean. You dine in a white cloth table cover. You don’t drink on those plastic cups. You drink on wine glasses. Guess what, you also have waiters and waitresses. Now, does that sound like a nursing home? Nope! Not to mention, low ratio of resident to nurses. It’s a small facility too so you know that attention is easy to get =)
