The Best Little Cat House

The Best Little Cat House in Pasadena is one of the best things about living here — I have never felt comfortable boarding my cats anywhere but here. The girls are lovely and clearly care about taking great care of the animals, the facilities are clean and cozy, and I love that I can bring my extrovert to the group room and allow my introvert to stay in her own private condo. I’ve brought our cats here 3 – 4 times in the past 2 years — basically anytime the whole household was out of town for a few nights, and need them one more time before the end of this month. Not even a second thought — if I need boarding, I bring the cats here. They are always calm when I pick them up — and for the introvert — that is Very Telling. I even got to see my extrovert play on the kitty cam — really sweet that Best Little Cat House provides this service. I was really shocked to read negative reviews — but understand sometimes nothing goes right. For me though, I’m batting .1000 here — I can’t think of too many other service providers that have that kind of perfect record of caring for my little friends. :) Yay for Best Little House! :)

This Pasadena location is as exceptional as the la brea location that I used to go. You have photos of hairstyles you can pick. But I usually go with the lion cut. They are very careful with your pet and makes sure your cat is comfortable. I don’t know why, but after shower and grooming, my cat has been wanting my attention. I think he’s saying «hey! I look awesome! Look at me!» I would definitely come to this place again. My cat left the little cat house smelling awesome, looking good, and most importantly, in a good mood!

These people do not know how to run a business. I was told wrong information on pickup times, twice, and could not pick my cats up because of that without having an extra $ 150 fee. My cats had to stay boarded an extra night unnecessarily. I ask for a manager to call me. One did the next morning and she was one of the rudest people I have ever had to talk to. She made it out to be my fault and that I should have known they were closed on Sunday, even though 2 of their employees told me it would be fine to pick them up when I specifically asked about picking them up on Sunday. She even questioned why I would give them a courtesy call before trying to pick them up. I believe she way implying that I knew better the whole time. She had the audacity to tell me I was rude to her staff when I was anything but that and hung up on me. It’s a shame, because I liked other members of the staff that I’ve worked with. Their management staff needs to be trained on how to handle complaints. I will never take my cats back there!

+My cat Moo weighs 20+ lbs and he’s a tough cookie to wash. He doesn’t really struggle during the bath time but when he decides to twitch when my bf & I are holding him down, it feels like we’re fighting a bull. So one day we dropped our beloved Moo off here because 1) his hair was getting too long (he’s a long hair kitty 2) we wanted him bathed by a professional. After an hour or so, we came to pick Moo up and oow and behold, Moo came back 2x skinnier looking and so pretty because he was nicely washed!
+Luckily Moo didn’t seem to be traumatized like other cats after the bath & grooming. Obviously he looked a bit curious about his whereabouts and eager to get home but he definitely wasn’t upset with us for taking him there.

+Once you go in, there’s a boarding room in the left of the building with clear glass wall so you can see all the cats chilling together.
Due to other reviews, I don’t feel comfortable taking Moo here to get his nails clipped but I would be more than happy to bring him here to get him washed & groomed (Will do his nail clippings on our own at home).

Have used their services twice this year. Both visits were outstanding in their services and interaction with the customer.
If there was six stars available, I would rate this place as such.

I was very excited when I heard about this place. With that said I took my cat for a grooming and cut when I picked her up they said everything went well to my surprise because I know my cat and their is no way she was easy and pleasant. On our way home I noticed her collar was missing I called then and they said they forgot to put it back on, we drove back and got it before closing. When we got home she was twitching and licking her self excessively. I thought she might just have hated it. Waiting for the next morning and she was still the same I got worried so we took her to a pet hospital because since it was Sunday her normal vet and most vets are closed. After seeing the vet she said they cut one of her nails too short (keep in mind I cut her nails all the time so how is it that someone who does this «professionally» wasn’t able to do it right?) anyhow she told us my baby is having some nervous anxiety and that’s why her body is having uncontrollably twitches including her tail, head, and ears. We had to get anxiety medication that can take from 4 – 6 to help her. And that’s if it’s not a long term affect. She was traumatized!!! I regret ever taking my baby here. I advise you to not take your cat here or anywhere unless you know someone personally there. I know they lied and said she did fine no way did I believe that one bit my cat is a scardy cat. I wish I would have never taken her here.

This location is great! I’ve had sub-​par service at the Burbank location, but each experience here has been really wonderful!
I bring my little cat here to get her nails trimmed. She’s a pretty cranky creature so I try to give the groomer a warning when she takes her. They’re always nice about it and tell me she was vocal, but not too much of a troublemaker (they might be lying, but it’s definitely nice to hear either way). She always comes back with nicely trimmed nails so I assume she’s tolerable enough for them to do the job. And they’re always pretty quick about it: I’m usually in and out in 10 minutes. Plus the place is clean. There’s definitely a subtle pet odor (how could there not be?), but not the reeking stench I’ve smelt at other boarding houses/​groomers where it seems they’re neglectful in their litter maintenance. Plus the cats-​only aspect is very appealing to someone who has a slight fear of dogs, and a cat who hates all other animals.
I have yet to try the boarding service as my cat does not play well with others (shocking, I know…) but this is my go-​to for all my cat grooming needs.

I’ve now taken my cat here twice for grooming and I don’t see any reason why I won’t return again and again in future! They do an excellent job (fairly quickly, I might add) and my cat always returns looking quite handsome. The staff is always kind and polite, and they even gave me courtesy call to ask me how my cat was doing a couple of days after his trim.
On top of this, the range of grooming services that they offer is better than anywhere else I’ve been: some places have outright refused to do any sort of trimming and insist that you can only give cats a «lion cut». Not so with The Best Little Cat House!
There really is no reason I can think of to take your cat anywhere else for grooming in Pasadena. They truly are the best!

I am so happy with the hair cut my baby boy got! I opted for the kitten clip which is a bit longer than a lion cut. Jessie was awesome and very patient with Sherlock. This was the first time for the both of us so I was very anxious about how long it would it take to get his bath and trim. I dropped Sherlock off at 9am and they were booked that day so it took a while to get to him, which made me flip out even more. Well, when I picked him up, I was so happy with the hair cut and that he was doing okay that all my fears went away. Reservations are definitely required, but weekends tend to be the busiest. I am probably going to shoot for a week day so I won’t have to wait as long to pick up my baby. The cost of he grooming is pricey, but kitty gets a bath plus the hair cut. The sanitary trim was extra, but necessary for my guy. All in all, I was happy with this visit and will be back in three months!

This is such a sweet place to bring your cat when you go out of town. The staff always takes a cute picture of your cat to give you when you pick up your kitty and at Xmas the cats all get presents. When we drop our little guy off he’s a bit sad and hissy at the other cats of course and sometimes is ready to leave when we pick him up, but twice he made friends and did NOT want to go home. He’s a black cat he made friends with three other black cats who were staying there last time. They all went around and slept together. The staff called them «the Black Kitty Club» One of his new buddies even photobombed his picture. He’s a camera ham, so he looks pissed. LOL! So when we when picked him up he held onto the cat tree with both forepaws and would not let go! He was like «Noooo mom, I’m having so much fuuuun! I don’t wanna go!!»
It’s great to know our precious guy enjoys his sleep-​away camp and is taken excellent care of when we’re out of town.

I took our 2 year old female long hair cat for a blended lion cut and it was great! Really a nice job! Not too close to the skin, no irritation, very clean, etc. Our cat is very happy as are we!!!

I boarded my two kitties not long ago while I was out of town. After calling around this seemed like the best option. Check in was quick and it was more or less what I was expecting — a little house for cats!
I really enjoyed the group rooms for the cats with plenty of perches and beds. I had one cat stay in the group room and the other in a private area. No problems really with either, they were going to be upset either way :)
The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that they charge you EXTRA to feed your own provided food? Seems very backwards? When I picked them up there were food bowls laying out in the group room. if I wasn’t in such a rush to get them before work I would have inquired further on pick up. Didn’t get a food report or anything like that or any of my food bags that I portioned back. Were they free feeding the cats? But I’m paying extra to have my kitties eat their own food?

Best Little Cathouse put our cat on a starvation diet!
We had to board our cat for the first time ever at the end of March. We had a lot of reservations about boarding him at all, as he previously had an incident where he developed a urinary blockage for unknown reasons. We had to switch him to an all wet-​food diet with water mixed in, in order to ensure he was getting enough water with the goal of keeping him hydrated and urinating regularly so that he wouldn’t block up again.
When we checked him in, we left EXPLICIT instructions as to the amount of food he was supposed to receive each day (4 oz. + a tablespoon of water, or a third of a big can of Wellness), and we brought a supply of food for his entire stay.
When we checked him out 5 days later (this past Tuesday), he was NOTICEABLY thinner, and TBLCH returned over half of the food we had brought for him, un-​opened. We didn’t realize it at the time, but in a followup call the next day, they revealed that they had been giving him only a tablespoon OF FOOD mixed with water at each feeding.
They claimed they were gave him so little food based off the amount the fed him when we dropped him off, rather than our instructions which they had even written down in his file! It is hard to imagine that of the care takers he had, no one thought to double check with us or to follow the instructions they themselves had written down.
To their credit, they gave us a refund for our cat’s stay, but we won’t be boarding him here again.

My cat sushi had a grooming about half a year ago, and I fell in love with this place. They gave her so much care and was so gentle with her. I ask for a lions cut, and it was so perfect. My cat loved it. They got about 20 fleas from sushi which was also great. Her nails were also cut very short without damaging her nerves. It’s too bad I don’t get to go home with her that often, otherwise I will come here everytime I need a groom.

I’ve brought my kitty here twice now. Once when he escaped from my house and got lost for a week and most recently when he decided to cannonball into a heap of dirt for no reason. The Best Little Cat House has always done a solid job of getting my little cutie all clean and smelling yummy. A bath includes brushing and a nail trim, plus your choice of shampoo (love the oatmeal one!) They charge depending on the length of your cat’s hair and mine was $ 49 for long-​haired. It is a bit pricey if you’re doing this regularly but there aren’t that many grooming places that specialize in cats. so oh well. I like that the employees I’ve met so far seem to genuinely like cats because grooming can be a traumatic experience and it helps if the groomers are gentler. Tip #1: their Sat appointments book up fast so if you need one, call them asap. Tip #2: I think their latest drop off time is like 11am so if you go past that, your cat won’t be able to get groomed that day. Tip #3: The Pasadena location has a hard time answering their phones (probably cause the groomers double as the «front desk») so just leave a message and they’ll get back to you.

I have been extremely happy with the grooming my cat Nook has received at this location. Joy is an awesome groomer and you can tell she genuinely loves her job and working with kitties.
My cat has gotten the kitten clip twice and this last time I chose to get the lion cut. She looks great and I even got her claws capped with the cutest violet-​colored caps. I really love the bow they added to her collar as well.
The Best Little Cat House in Pasadena has always been accommodating when trying to schedule an appointment. I’ve called the Burbank location twice (because I live in the valley) and twice I’ve been told there was at least a month waiting list. I called Pasadena and received an appointment the same day. Talk about great service!

I brought my cat Tigress in to get a lion cut and the results were awesome! First of all she had built up quite a few hair matts that I could not take care of myself. Joy was her groomer and did an amazing job. Tigress is pretty testy and can put up a good fight so I was so impressed with Joy. Definitely taking Tigress back!

My cats stayed here for 2 weeks. They were very scared and uncomfortable and hissing at all the cats the first few minutes I brought them in. I have never seen them so angry. But I was comforted knowing I can peek in anytime on their web cams and the staff said they would be monitored carefully and if they cannot adapt, they will transfer them to their own private suite. You know it can’t be a bad place if their own cats stay there and they are very well behaved and help welcome everyone. I first heard of them from John Fulton’s Must Love Cats show.
At first I wanted them to have their own suite away from the other cats, but all it is is like a bedroom with closet spaces or cubby holes, which is what they call a suite, one for each cat family. If there are multiple cat families at once, they take turns getting out to explore the room with a cat tree in the middle. If there are no other cats, then your cat would have the whole room to himself.
The downstairs sun room is nice in that the cats have the option of getting plenty of sunlight and fresh air. It has a lot of fun cat furniture, and sleeping and hiding spots, but at the time it was full of male cats, some of them seemed rambunctious, it also seemed to have the heaviest odor out of all the rooms.
My cats ended up in the upstairs group room with other female cats, with the aquarium and birds. From the web cam, one of my cats loved the aquarium, she slept next to or on top of it everyday. My other cat enjoyed the birdwatching. Even though it is a group room, seems like the cats keep to themselves.
You know they are well taken care of because I do see multiple staff go in to clean and feed the cats at least twice a day. And right before I picked them up, I had one last peek on the web, and saw my cat cuddling with Joy. It was the cutest thing because I have not seen her do that with anyone else.
I got email updates while I was away. And they gave me souvenir pictures to take home.
The only downside I can think of is that is very expensive: $ 600 for 2 weeks!

I’ve only come here twice for the soft paw treatment, but from both visits, The Best Little Cat House has left me a very happy customer.
They are easy to schedule appointments with, are readily available with answers to any and all questions you have about the treatment and in general are just very nice people to deal with, for both me and my cat :)
As a cherry on top, their soft paw treatments cost as much as it does to buy a set at Petco, and although the set comes with enough nail caps for maybe 2 – 3 treatments, it’s near impossible to get your cat to sit still for it, and it’s just so much easier to have them done.

The Best Little Cat House in Pasadena must have worked some kitty magic on my cat because after a recent visit in which Chloe was treated to the full works (nail trim, bath, and a modified lion cut — a necessity due to some unfortunate matting she had going on; they also offer a kitten cut which leaves the hair slightly longer), my formerly aloof and independent cat has never seemed happier! I couldn’t believe it when she purred all the way home after having yowled the entire way in. She also has become super snuggly of late. Maybe she’s just cold because half her fur is gone? lol. Whatever it is, I’m not complaining!
The last time i tried to have Chloe bathed at another pet grooming place, it was a total disaster, so i was a little nervous at this second attempt… but my fears were more than allayed and i feel i can trust the Best Little Cat House to know how to handle even difficult felines.
Their services are pricey (and they just recently upped their prices by $ 5 i believe) but worth every penny (although I only say this because I don’t foresee having to visit them more than say 1−2x/year). They do give you 10% off if you come back within 3 months of your initial visit.
Highly recommended! They also offer boarding and have locations in mid-​city and Burbank.
