Sally Nguyen

Sally’s definitely my go-​to hair girl! I had long brown hair and decided I wanted to chop it all off and go light so of course, I wanted to go to someone who will do a great job at it (since it was a big change for me). Seriously, after my first visit, I couldn’t stop staring at myself (not trying to sound vain) because my hair looked so perfect! I’ve came back twice after my first visit and I never leave dissatisfied and am always in shock at how good I look! She’s super friendly and personable so time flies when you’re in her seat. I definitely recommend her if you want to get your hair done perfectly :)

I came into the salon for an appointment with Sally in March, she sits and asks me what I want, I show her a picture and stated that I want a dark base with low lights or somewhat of a subtle balayage and haircut. She then says «I can’t do that», mind you my hair is below my waist and had some split ends like everyone else does. She says my hair is too damaged and doesn’t have the time to even cut my hair or color it, although I had made an appointment months ago specifically for what I wanted and knew it would take at least a few hours! How does she say she has no time for color or cut? Ugh, My roots were grown out about 3 inches so I tell her to do what she can, being my first experience I was hopeful. She then says «I can only add highlights». She was so rude to me complaining about my hair, giving me attitude, and making smart comments, and when I mentioned a couple of people who knew her and had recommended her to me, she then completely changed her attitude and became fake!
She puts bleach on my hair (in a rush), has her lovely assistant do most of the work, then looks at my hair and realizes she left it on for too long burning my hair but luckily my hair toughed it out and didn’t fall out. As I listen in on Sally scolding her assistant about her mistakes of leaving me under the heat for too long, Sally added 2 treatments to my hair, I assume because Sally was not communicating well with me about anything that was going on or what she was doing.
So after all, she «had time» to cut and blowdry my hair, style it and make it look «not so burned». I felt embarrassed, sucked it up and accepted that my roots were so obvious, and my hair looked bad, the next day it looked worse! my hair looked dirty no matter how many times I washed it. My roots were black and then I had other tones in it. I will never come back, maybe she didn’t like me, I don’t know but I kept my cool and was never rude or disrespectful. NOT WORTH $ 300+ dollars I spent, and also buying some products she swore I couldn’t get anywhere else! I spent another $ 100+ on that! Not worth it and will never come back. This is my review on MY experience, to each it’s own and good luck! I do not recommend buying products here, save your money and buy elsewhere for way less! Nor do I recommend Sally.

Omg I love Sally! I’ve been going to her since 2013 and I only trust her with my hair now. She knows how to cut my hair exactly the way I like it, and each ombré/​balayage she’s done on me has come out perfectly every time! I’ve gone through several sessions already but my hair is not dry or damaged at all. She’s my lifetime hairstylist and I will continue seeing her for as long as I can!

Thank you to Sally for making all of my hair dreams come true! I came to her for my first ever balayage and showed her some pics of what I wanted — she knew exactly the look I was going for and went above and beyond! The results were so beautiful and I am so happy with my experience here. Sally, as well as her assistant, were so kind and considerate. I really appreciate how she took her time to make sure everything went perfectly. Throughout the entire process, she was always checking in with me to make sure I was happy and comfortable. She also made sure to tell me how to properly care for my new hair and recommended a few products for me. I will recommend Sally to everyone. Thank you so much for everything!

I came in for a cut and a balayage with Sally! I’m pretty bad with my hair and color and I always have trouble figuring out what I want to do, but Sally took the time to talk to me and gave me suggestions for my color and cut. She’s an excellent conversationalist and I felt at ease the entire visit. She and her assistant took great care of me and were very detailed in their work. I would 100% recommend her! When I booked her she booked a month solid but it was completely worth it.

Went to Sally to get a haircut and balayage after finally deciding it was time to find a hair stylist in LA. She really took the time to understand what I wanted and to make sure I was happy! I never cut my hair short but went for a lob this time. She assured me it would look great and walked me through every step of the way. I’m so happy with the end result and will be making this salon my LA go to!

Came here on a whim to try to get a consultation. When I got here the lady said we needed to make appointments for a consultation. Fortunately Sally was available to see me real quick. Made an appointment for March 5 even though it was too far away. Luckily I was able to come in two different days, one for cut and one for color. Love my hair. Sally is amazing!

Sally is the best! This is my first time dyeing my hair, and I can’t recommend her enough. She is super friendly, takes time to listen to what you want and gives great advice. The result is amazing, I love how my hair looks! Will keep going back to her

It’s pretty recent that I’ve wanted to have my hair professionally colored, and so I’ve do a lot of research to make sure that I know what I want, and that the stylist I book with has experience creating the same results that I’m looking for — all at a fair price. My schedule pretty much only allows me to go to the salon only about twice a year, so I was really picky about my decision. I found Sally on Instagram, and lucky for me, she had a last minute opening for an appointment soon after I emailed her.
I’m typically wary of businesses with too many positive reviews, but this is one of the rare cases where I agree that all the reviews were correct. Sally is extremely professional and puts a lot of effort into trying to understand what the customer wants. She takes the time to explain what she’s going to do, and is very upfront about the final cost at the beginning of the appointment so that there are no surprises. She takes the initiative to make conversation without being overly intrusive, and she would periodically check up on me to see if I needed anything. I ended up with a cut and balayage (on top of a pre-​existing balayage) and the results were amazing. It came out to the perfect ashy light brown/​caramel tone I wanted, and my hair has so much more dimension now. It’s the first time I can’t stop staring at my hair! It all came out to a price point that might be a bit more expensive than most salons, but I thought was very fair because you definitely get what you pay for. Very excited to book my next appointment :)

Another 5 star review for the fabulous Sally. I found her IG account last year and was pretty impressed with all her pics! I came to her hoping that she would be able to fix the bad ombré I previously had. I didn’t even have to show her any pics. I think I just said please do what you think will be nice because anything will look better than what I have right now. She ended up giving me balayage honey color and gave me a cut that made my locks look healthy and shiny again. She also taught me how to care for it and prevent it from turning orange which happens often to Asian hair. After a few months, my hair still looks great and I I try to see her every few months to get a toner. I will be back again in a few months to get it recolored/​cut.

I finally found my go to hairstylist who can cut my hair and do my highlights the way I want it. Sally is really sweet and personable. My first hair appointment with her was for my balayage highlights and I’ve been coming back ever since!

Sally did an amazing job coloring my hair. I had previously attempted to get a balayage/​ombré color job from a Korean salon, and was disappointed by the sloppy job. Sally worked with me and really made sure that she understood what I wanted. The ash brown balayage came out perfectly! I’m in love with this hair color, and the soft and natural look of the color blends well with my dark brown/​black Asian hair. I have since received lots of complements from friends and strangers alike about my balayage highlights, and I can’t imagine trusting anyone else other than Sally in the future with my hair color!

I did balayage for the first time and after doing a lot of research, I stumbled upon Sally and her devoted followers on Instagram. She was amazing! My hair came out gorgeous, soft, ashy, but natural — just like how I wanted! She’s also super sweet and great to talk to. I highly recommend her and will only come back to her now for coloring!

Sally does my hair and is amazing in every way possible.
Two years ago I had my hair done by a friend in her kitchen (not the best idea I know) and the auburn I was thinking of turned out into a dark burgundy on my hair. I hated it. So I turned to my trusty fellow Unilocalers to help me find a salon that was excellent at color correction. Thank God for the salon that set me up with Sally.
Sally is amazing. Just amazing, I can always trust her to listen to exactly what I want and do a better job than I even envisioned. Sally has seen me through all the colors of the (natural) rainbow, from my ashy blond natural, to my beautiful, long copper balayage that she has tweaked to long lasting perfection, and almost everything in between. I get compliments constantly on how beautiful and healthy my hair looks and its all thanks to dear Sally. I trust her implicitly with my hair, and as long as I live in the greater Los Angeles area will never go to anyone else.
I would follow Sally anywhere. She is always a good sport when I tell her I was thinking of something slightly different than her tried and true formula, and works with me to develop the perfect color. She is super easy to talk to, and extremely talented. She has changed me from a vibrant copper to bright red with deeper lowlights to the rich auburn I’ve been rocking for the past 4 months and each one has been just as pretty as the last. Go see Sally! She’s amazing!

Sally is my go to girl! Quick trim: she’s got you. New look: she’s gonna help get you there. I’m in love with the way this girl works! So professional. She asks all the right questions. How do you regularly style your hair? Where do you part it? How short do you want it? What colors are you going for? Ok ok, one may think every stylist asks those questions, BUT do they listen to you? Sally does! I’m in the process of growing out my hair so I didn’t want a cut too short. Usually stylists cut and cut and cut, and I’m stuck with a cut 3 inches more than I agreed to. Who wants to pay for something you didn’t ask for? Not me… I showed how much I was willing to chop off along with the instruction of long layers and she followed exactly what I asked for. Color wise, this girl is golden! I told her specifics: ombré, I can’t have it too bright, can’t have it too high, but I would like to see a definite change.
AH-​MAZ-​ING! She mixed colors together and got the color I wanted! Genius!

I’ve had several hair cuts and coloring done by Sally. Each and every time, I have not been disappointed. She has a energetic and fun personality. She makes you feel welcome and comfortable during the whole process. She recently moved to a new salon, so if you are thinking about getting a quality cut or adding some color to your hair, I would highly recommend her!
