Established in 1978.

S&J Auto Specialists first opened in 1978 by master mechanic Jim Hemela. In 1990, Csaba Buzy joined Jim and partnered in the establishment. After 23 years of close partnership between the two well-​renowned auto technicians, Jim passed away and Csaba took over S&J Auto Specialists in 2013.

Previously located in Altadena, CA, S&J Auto Specialists has established its new home in Pasadena, CA and continues to flourish from optimal service rendered to its customers and by word of mouth appraisal. S&J Auto Specialists looks forward to working with you and your vehicle, giving the best auto repair and exceptional service in town!

We have used S&J Auto Specialists for more than 15 years… for all of our cars — Acura, Ford Expediton, Hondas. The owner, Csaba, is extraordinary — honest, fair and highly skilled, on SO many different types of cars and issues! He has never recommended unnecessary repairs, and the repairs that have been done have been consistently excellent. He is patient in determining the cause of problems and a perfectionist in his work. Oil changes @ $ 60 are more than Jiffy lube but there is no comparison… Csaba carefully checks over the car and even test drives it to see that everything is ok. With his help, we have kept multiple cars well beyond 100,000 miles… even 160,000, in great running order. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Certain things mean a lot. Finding an honest mechanic, who provides top quality service at reasonable prices is one. At S & J Auto Specialists, I have found all of that and more in Csaba Buzy.
Csaba cares for my vehicle as if it were his own. During scheduled, well-​baby check ups, he always lets me know if there is anything else in need. For example, today, I was in for an oil change and Csaba noticed a nail in a rear tire. He asked if I wanted him to take care of it. (Of course!) We also plan upcoming maintenance so I know how to budget bigger ticket items. And I really like the ease of scheduling appointments!
Combined with all the above mentioned reasons, Csaba’s reliability, courtesy, knowledge, and professionalism allow me to recommend S & J Auto Specialists with the utmost confidence!

I came in first thing this morning to get car line service and a new brake system and I am so grateful my neighbor recommended me here. Chaba the owner was so professional, you can tell he really loves what he does. I expressed my concerns to the owner because the last time I got my rotors machined at another auto shop a few blocks away, the mechanics warped my rotors and I had to replace 2 new brake pads after only few weeks from the issue. Plus I sat at the shop for a half a day, just to get my car back screwed up.
Chaba was so confident and reassured me that everything would turn out perfect and he was absolutely right! Thank God! I am so happy I came here and was excited to write him a review because both him and the shop really deserve it. I’ll be taking my car here from now on. My car drives great again… I highly recommend this shop for your car service. Thanks guys!
