If you don’t have dental insurance, stay away from here. I came in to check on my wisdom teeth, and needed my x-​rays to be emailed to a new dentist. They were going to charge me an additional $ 100 to get the x-​rays back, and refused to email them (instead making me drive to get them). It’s 2015… emails are easy. Every other facility I’ve been to has no problem using email.

I had a difficult extraction and my regular dentist sent me here. I’m used to being in the chair and I’ve had my fair share of dental procedures along with the discomfort that comes with them. However this was the first time that I had to be put under general anesthesia and the thought of it left me jittery and nervous.
Ok, I was a big baby. None of this was a problem for Dr. Stamper or his staff who were all pretty spectacular from the moment I arrived. All my questions about insurance and payment were answered. Making arrangements for my xrays to be transferred to this office was no big deal. All of my questions were answered BEFORE they gave me valium to calm the eff down. I don’t even remember going under, I just suddenly had a mouth full of gauze and my husband was there to drive me home.
I wish this was my regular dentist office. Actually I wish I didn’t need to see the dentist so often, but when I do I’m glad this office is here.

A+! This morning Dr. Stamper removed one of my teeth that had an old root canal which had become infected. As an operating room nurse, I am well aware of good patient care and am pleased to give Dr. Stamper and each member of his staff an A+ for best-​practice of patient safety and comfort.
Each of the doctors in this group are highly skilled oral surgeons. The doctors and their well-​prepared office staff use state-​of-​the-​art cardiac, blood pressure, oxygen, and CO2 monitoring during IV sedation, and more importantly, they know how to READ and RESPOND to the monitoring.
Thanks to this well prepared surgical team, my tooth extraction was uneventful, which is exactly what good surgeons and their staff hopes and plans for for all patients.

On June 13, 1989 I underwent LeForte I, Bilateral Sagital Split Osteotomy (Maxillofacial Surgery for an OVERBITE) with Drs. Lytle and Stamper, which did not go as planned. My top jaw was brought down and a manmade plate was installed under my nose, and my bottom jaw was brought forward. I am still dealing with issues caused by this operation. I was considered an excellent patient because of my age and healthy living habits — no smoking or drinking. These are factors even the physician takes into consideration because they can contribute to your ability to do well with the operation and to heal afterwards. Issues occurred during the operation, but I was not awake during the surgery, so I cannot speak about what occurred then, but I can tell you about what happened afterwards. I found myself seated on a bed in a room with the door closed and I was propped over a bucket with a nurse’s hand against my back with blood streaming out of my mouth. I was coming to when I heard Dr. Lytle and the Anesthesiologist cussing at each other, so I was afraid to even let them know I was awake. Dr. Lytle was telling the Anesthesiologist that this was his fault because he gave me too much medication, and the Anesthesiologist told him if they had done their job right and measured the implant accurately then he would not have had to keep giving me medication to put me back out! As I lifted my head up and they realized I was awake they stopped yelling at each other. This is an issue you need to consider as well — how much time does the doctor spend researching things BEFORE the procedure? Make sure the doctor takes the necessary time and effort to verify measurements and your body. Otherwise, you might end up in the same situation — with an implant that does not fit your body and the need for adjustments to be made during the operation. Next issue: No pain medication can be given to a patient that will be discharged soon. Unfortunately, I ended up with a fever and my temperature was over 103 degrees, but the nurse would not give me pain medication, so I had to sign myself out of the hospital with a fever, which should never have happened. Make sure you have someone overseeing your medication at all times. I am extremely sensitive to pain medication and what might be too small a dosage for someone else is a lot to me, so I ended up having issues coming to and also with the medication they sent home with me. Discuss this with your doctor and see if half the dosage might work well, if not you can always take the full dosage. This way you aren’t overly medicated, which can cause you to become so sick you are vomiting. Also, inform your doctor of any known ALLERGIES to medication, Arisocort cream removed my facial skin. I would advise second opinions. I had two doctors that did not agree on how long my jaw should be wired shut. If I had gotten one more opinion that might have been helpful, but since I only weighed 115 pounds I felt I would end up in the hospital with anorexia if I was wired shut that long. Dr. Lytle wrote the book on this procedure, so I trusted his abilities. Unfortunately, I have subluxation issues and that made a big difference in my situation. You might want to verify this with your doctor too — could there be anything medically that could pose a problem. Post-​op appointment with the orthodontist: During my post-​op visit with Richard Nalin, D.D.S., he became angry and he informed me that I should have had Dr. Paul Bilovsky perform this operation because Dr. Bilovsky would have wired my jaws closed for six (6) weeks, allowing for healing and stability. Dr. Lytle had removed the wires from my jaws after two (2) weeks. While I was sleeping, I was awakened by spasms and found out subluxation occurred, which sent the jaws back into the position they were PRIOR to surgery. Dr. Nalin was so upset with my inability to close my mouth that he called Dr. Lytle’s office and then wrote a letter informing the doctor of this, and he advised me to seek professional legal help because he said I would have to undergo another operation. I could undergo another operation with jaws wired for six weeks or have veneers put on five upper teeth on the right side, so you would be able to see my teeth when I smile. Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to pay to have either of these done; if I did I would opt for the veneers. I am thankful I still have all my teeth… I hope this is helpful to anyone that is considering having this type of surgery performed!

I just got my lower wisdom teeth removed after having a pretty bad infection on both of them. It was all spur of the moment, so I was referred here by another great doctor and they scheduled me in the SAME DAY. I was treated with so much kindness and so much professionalism that I’m pretty set on this being my place for any other procedures. Dr. Lytle is funny and knows exactly what he’s doing. He even gave my husband his cell phone number and told him to call at any time. He also called me the next day to follow up and explain everything that had been done. Although having wisdom teeth removed is painful, I’m glad that my office visit wasn’t something I had to worry about.

My dentist and orthodontist insisted that I get my third molar removed. It was my bottom right wisdom tooth. I did a lot of research on the surgical procedure, and it was giving me anxiety. My orthodontist recommended that I look for Dr. John Lytle at Lytle Tate and Stamper. I did, and I went in for consultation. The place has a small parking lot and is location between a commercial and residential building. The office is shared with a DDS also, I got a bit confused when I went in. The staff greeted me nicely with professionalism, and made me feel very welcome (of course right? They want my business! That isn’t always the case, some places are mean regardless). So I got my consultation and they were very thorough with what had to be done, I felt more comfortable with the whole ordeal now. My actual surgery date came 3 months later, not because they couldn’t get me an appointment, something came up and I couldn’t do it just yet.
Finally, my day comes, it is 8₂₅_​2014.
I got an early appointment because I needed a ride, and that was the only time I could find someone not working. I got in a few minutes early, and once my appointment time came they took me right in, no unexpected wait time (an appointment should be an appointment right?). Once I got escorted to my room, I was immediately given tests, and was hooked up to several monitors. In about 10 minutes I was ready for gen anesthesia. The doc came in, put me to sleep, and I woke up and voila! I was done! They made me lay down in another room for 20 minutes so the gen anesthesia could wear off.
I left, and took the day off work to rest.
Later that night right before dinner, Dr. Lytle personally gave me a call on his cell phone to check if I was okay. I was like wowwwwwwwwwwww. I’ve never had the doctor call me just to check if I was okay. usually it’s the front desk person, or a dedicated call center for calling outpatients.
If you’re scared to sh*t about getting your wisdom teeth removed, I found the place and tested it out for you.
Planning to remove another third molar in a couple months, guess where I’m going???
One more thing! it has been almost 10 hours, no pain, no swelling, didn’t take any pain killers, only the antibiotics that were prescribed.

Dr. Stamper and his team were absolutely AMAZING!!! As soon as I walked in I was greeted with warmth and kindness. Throughout the whole process before and after getting ALL FOUR wisdom teeth out his team explained everything to me. I felt at home and safe. As soon as they were getting me prepared for surgery it was over and I was awake. I was walked carefully to a bed, where I was allowed to lie down till Dr. Stamper came in to give me an update. I went home and felt pretty good for having my wisdom teeth out. I had little pain and minor to none swelling. Later in the afternoon Dr. Stamper called me himself to check in on how I was doing. He gave me great advice on how to stop the minor bleeding. Black tea bags really work! I’m on day two with no swelling and little pain. I would suggest Dr. Stamper for everyone!!! It was such a wonderful experience and I am so grateful to have had Dr. Stamper as my surgeon and his rock star team by his side: D There’s not enough stars or accolades to show how appreciative I am of them all ! If you need your wisdom teeth out this is the place to go!

I made an appointment for a consultation for removal of a tooth about a week in advance. Two days before the appointment the office staff called to confirm. About 24 hours before the appointment the office staff called to cancel because they scheduled something else for the dentist. I will look elsewhere for a practice that offers better customer service.

I went to see Dr Stamper for a consult on my daughters implant. The staff and Dr. Stamper exceeded my expectations. They were quite helpful and explained thoroughly the process and what to expect during the surgery. We made an appointment and I will update after the first surgery in a month or so.

EXCELLENT! I had all three of my kids wisdom teeth pulled and not one problem. Worth every penny for the security of knowing that my kids were in safe hands with Dr. Stamper.

If you ever need any kind of reconstructive surgery done on your teeth, this is THE place to go. The staff are incredibly friendly, compassionate and understanding. At «Lytle, Tate & Stampler» you feel like you are the only patient they have and not a number. That’s how personal the service is.
When I go, I deal with Dr. John Lytle exclusively, so I am unable to speak for the other dentists there. If they are anything like Dr. Lytle, then you will be in excellent hands no matter which dentist you choose.

Dr. Stamper and his staff go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and explain your procedure.
I am visiting a friend, so I am not from the area, and he still treated me like I was a patient of his for years. I am going back in tomorrow for a follow up appointment, and I have never heard of a dentist/​oral surgeon who is in on a Saturday! It really is great for my work schedule and makes me feel at ease that I don’t need to wait until Monday.

Dr. Stamper is the happiest, friendliest, and most outgoing doctor I’ve ever met in my life! His infectious personality permeates his entire office and all of his staff are happy and extremely helpful when you visit.
This is doubly important if you are seeing Dr. Stamper to deal with a serious problem (i.e., not just having wisdom teeth removed). I had complications with my teeth and gums after wearing braces (for the second time in my life) on my lower teeth and Dr. Stamper made the best of a bad situation.
He is a nationally renowned surgeon, but he is not arrogant in the least. He is warm, caring, and he did an amazing job fixing my problem. His wonderful staff makes the experience the best it can possibly be.
There is NO other choice for an oral surgeon in the SGV!

I went in for night guard impressions for my tmj problem. Dr Stamper showed compassion & professionalism … Staff was friendly, Amanda took my impressions … She was very thorough and made me feel at ease & helped make my overall experience an enjoyable one. Two thumbs up! :)

This office location is their regular Mon-​Friday location. The other 2 locations on Unilocal in La Canada and Glendale sometimes serve as their Saturday surgery locations.
I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed last Saturday at 8 am by Dr. Stamper and his team. The experience was beyond extraordinary. Never have had such efficient and fast service. I say service because I was put under, and brought back out of my slumber in 15 minutes and all 4 wisdom teeth were gone!
I had to have mine removed surgically because 2 of my wisdom teeth had grown in horizontally (bottom) and the top 2 had already broken through my gums — so not fun.
Every single person had their wisdom teeth horror story to share with me in the weeks coming up to the surgery — 2 weeks on painkillers, 1 week looking like a chipmunk, etc etc the stories went on.
My experience was so different! Dr Stamper had told me beforehand that I should be up and running for work on Monday morning no problem, that the swelling wouldn’t last much longer than 24 – 48 hours, and it wouldn’t even hurt.
He was right on EVERY SINGLE COUNT!!! For the next 4 days I just had soft, cold-​lukewarm foods like yogurt and cold soup and soft noodles and stuff. But I regained feeling of my mouth, tongue, cheeks and chin by 12 hours later… I have had the occaisional odd sensation in the backs of my mouth that is probably to be expected — but no inordinate swelling, no pain at all — I didn’t even have to take any Advil, let alone the Vicodin he prescribed to me — no need for the pain meds because no pain! Yay!
After the 15 minute surgery they had a back room with a soft bench where they lay me down and covered me in blankets as I came to and recovered. They were super attentive and stopped in every few minutes to check on my blood pressure.
I got a cheek compression head gear thing with cold paks built in that was awesome in helping keep down the swelling.
I also got a courtesy call from Dr Stamper that evening to see how I was doing, and how I was feeling which was really very nice and unexpected!
The only –1 star is the overall price — but so goes such procedures.
What I do have to say is the office was very accurate about their estimate on wha tI had to pay. I was worried because of the cost, and I didn’t want to have an additional 300 $ to pay afterwards… the only difference was $ 4 more! Excellent!
Just a great, great experience!

I had nightmares about taking my wisdom teeth out… I dreamt that my wisdom teeth were being used to be transplanted into some other guy’s mouth!
Reality hit, and I was welcomed by the calm, peaceful atmosphere of the office. Consultation? Check. Valium and instructions for the procedure? Check. Questions answered? Check.
I came in a 9:45am for my procedure, stepped into my chair at 10:00am, and was done by 10:30am. Just like that. No pain. No knock out, but plenty of anesthesia. I had no idea they had already pulled out all 4 teeth. They’re good like that.
Dr. Stamper’s office was warm, cordial, and accomodating. My procedure? Like cake. I went back to work at 2pm for a meeting on the same day without any drowsiness.
I am so happy with my experience, the staff, and would strongly recommend Dr. Stamper and his office to anyone getting any teeth extractions.
***EDIT: Later that night of my surgery, Dr. Stamper himself called to check up on me. Definitely as good as it gets.***

I had 4 wisdom teeth removed here and have no issues with the skill of the surgeon or how well the work was done.
I would have preferred a bit more of a personal touch. I went if the consult and the doctor came in, explained that he was going to take out all 4, and it will be easy. Very fast, very to the point and very «I want to get out of here quickly». WHen I asked a question it almost looked like they were not expecting any questions. I got an answer, then poof they were gone. They moved me to the next room and told me to come back when I had my appointment.
Surgey day came and I arrived 15 minutes early as I was told. I was escorted to the back where they sat me down in the oh so comfy exam chair. I then got to wait… and wait… and wait. At least 45 minutes. By the time they began the real work it was an hour after I got there. During that time I basically just sat while they did who knows what. Not impressed. After the surgery everything went well. No issues at all, very simple recovery.
A few days later when I looked at the bill it did not make sense. I called, was told someone would call back. No one ever did. I did get an explanation from someone else familiar with insurance and doctors offices.
So for their skill at their art, 5 stars. The «you are patient number XYZ» feel of the office knocks it down to 3. I would rather go somewhere where I felt like a valued person than another insurance claim. I would trust what I’m being told much more vs wonder if they are just adding extras to get paid more (which some offices do).

Total quote actually came out to over $ 3000 when it came back from the insurance company. This is not including the consultation and X-​Ray charges. They offered me a 10% discount like it even puts a dent into a $ 3200 surgery.
I opted out of going with this oral surgeon. They charged me $ 199 for my consultation and Panorec X-​ray. $ 10 of the $ 199 is to pay for a black and white print on photo paper for a copy of the X-​ray and to mail it to you.
No wonder he personally gives you a follow up call and thanks you for letting charging you up the arse.
