Specialties
A non-profit organization that provides free live music and arts education in Memorial Park every summer.
History
Established in 2002.
In 2002, the Mortimer Levitt Foundation granted the City of Pasadena funds to transform the neglected Memorial Park band shell into a top-quality venue suitable for professional performances. The historic gold shell had been a beloved site for community gatherings, sing-a-longs, and concerts in the 1930s and 40s, but had not been in use since the 70s. A group of dedicated Pasadena residents, including our founders Douglas Huberman and Barbosa Polverini, soon came together as the Friends of the Levitt Pavilion Pasadena, to see the renovation through and develop an annual concert series for the site. Our mission is to enrich family values, encourage community spirit, promote respect for diversity, and enhance appreciation for the arts by providing free public access to outstanding music performances.
