Ice House Comedy Club

Love comedy clubs!!! So I was excited to attend a company Christmas party here but overall, I had mixed feelings about this club.
The service wasn’t all that great and the bartender had bad attitudes especially the girls behind the bar. Seem as though they were all about socializing instead of taking care of customers. For drinks, I tried the Bigfoot margarita, chocolate martini, and strawberry daiquiri. Service wasn’t great but at least the drinks were good so at least they got that.
For dinner I had the salmon and my hubby got the prime rib. The salmon was overlooked and slightly under seasoned. The prime rib was very dry and tasteless, fat consumed most of the meat, very disappointing. Although, the mashed potatoes were excellent!!! Delicious even. That’s some bomb mashed potatas they got there!
I enjoyed the comedians that were on stage. I forgot their names but it was entertaining. Although we left early because the jokes became dry and boring after the 2^nd comedian went on stage. I overall had an okay experience but would not come back. There are plenty other great comedy clubs in Hollywood.
TIP: 2 drinks minimum, street parking available.

The comedians were great! The staff and management could use some people skills. I felt like a nuisance rather than a customer. I go to comedy shows (and take groups) to support many of my comic friends almost every week. It’s been a couple years that I’ve been to the Ice House, and after last night I remember why. Most comic clubs have changed to a 2 (menu) item minimum rather than a 2 drink minimum now. I don’t drink alcohol so I usually get a (non-​alcoholic) drink and a meal plus entry. Waitress informs me it’s a policy she can’t change (w/​an attitude of arrogance) and invites me to speak w mgr outside. Mgr was inviting and cordial at first but that changed. I walk outside (while show if going) and explained that I’m happy to order 2 items and how I didn’t know it was 2 drinks instead of 2 items. She says she can’t do anything so I ask if I can say hey to my friend in the green room and then leave so I don’t have to break policy. She says she’ll let it slide this 1 time. So in the middle of the show (after my friend walked off stage), I stepped outside to say hey for a few minutes but when I get back, my (half-​eaten) food is gone and the bill is there. I stop the waitress kindly and asks where my food went. She said she didn’t take it but they must’ve thought I left. I said, «my keys were next to my plate and my drink was over half full. I was standing just outside the door to the comic room.» She invites me outside to speak w the mgr again. At this point, I don’t want to keep walking out missing the show to talk w the mgr. so I make up my mind I’m not ever going back there. The next day I find out the staff was saying I was rude and difficult. Hence, why I will NEVER go back to The Ice House again nor recommend anyone to! Plenty of other great comedy clubs in LA.

5 star venue with 5 star service. I was able to wave down a server during the show and order another beer without saying a word. Without a doubt I will be back at the Ice House for more laughs!!!

The show was about average funny but the drinks were just horrible. I paid $ 24 for flavored fruit water. seriously where the hell was the alcohol?! such a scam!

One of the best comedy clubs in the country. Great club, staff and audiences. Ice house runs great shows, not every club does. It’s not easy to run a good comedy show, but this club consistently has great shows. I know I sound like a bot, But I’m not. Ive been over a dozen times now. As performer and audience member and the comics are always solid, sound is great and it’s always fun

Great time, came here for a graduation performance and everything went well. The food was good, the drinks were good. There is a two drink minimum
The thing I found funny was that there is only one toilet in the ladies restroom.

Couple months back, my friend, a comedian invited us to watch him perform. We RSVP with him and he said we were all on his guestlist and its good to go. This was my first time going to the Ice House, mind you, so i was pretty stoked about it. We showed up and i walk up to the guy at the stand and let him know we were on the guestlist. He told me that they sold our tickets. I was confused… what is a guestlist for then?! He said its a first come first served basis (then why have a guestlist again?) I texted my friend who didnt respond (because he was actually on stage) and long story short… we left because we tried getting into a later show and they were all sold out.
We ended up across the street at the hotel bar… our friend who was performing showed up only to apologize in person (we were a group of 6+ people, a couple came down from chino hills) and told us the guy at the stand messed up coz he had his guestlist for a later time and he didnt want to own up to his mistake and lies to us. Also advised us the manager said she will definitely take care of us next time.
My thoughts? Manager: thank you for the kind gesture and the attempt to rectify a bad situation. I may give you guys a second chance when im no longer upset.
But the guy that lied to me and told me it was a first come first serve basis even if im on the guestlist, then gave me an attitude and told me he needed to help others? For his mistake that he didnt want to own up to? I really hope you lose your job. You could’ve at least been honest that you screwed up and tried to rectify the problem (i wouldve been much more forgiving and left without being pissed) but no, you wanted to lie and give me attitude. Not cool.
Will i be back to give it a try? Maybe when this guy loses his job… definitely not a good first impression though.

Main Room is the best for seeing comedy, period.
I’ve seen Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, Ari Shaffir, Tom Segura, Chris D’elia and on and on and on here.
It’s a perfect room.
The drinks are average, at best. I stick to beer, so that doesn’t bother me. They have Guinness, so I’m happy.
Surprisingly, the hamburger I had there was on par with any burger I’ve had anywhere. It was f’in delicious.
The staff couldn’t be any better. Hats off to them.

Wow so worst comedy club experience ever. So I’m there with friends and we laugh at the first comedian. A couple of the folks in the crowd are heckling but it’s all good. Then this guy, Joe Bartnick comes on. He has a few black jokes. Not funny but I’m not insulted. But for some reason, by the 3^rd or 4^th — maybe it’s the energy and interaction from the crowd — I blurt out «that’s not funny.» Joe Bartnick proceeds to tell me «I’m sorry I cant see you I can only see your smile.» It’s another not funny black joke — this time directed at my skin color. I say «not funny.»
Then Joe Bartnick takes it to another level and says «I’m racist so what… I’m a racist what are you going to do film me and put me on snap chat.» At this point I’m thinking this guy is not Michael Richards (Kramer) and frankly he’s not worth me taking out my phone. He proceeds to spew 3 – 4 more black racial slurs. Joe Bartnick is no longer telling jokes now. He is just spewing hatred. The crowd is quiet. At this point I couldn’t help but say «you aren’t funny.» And this is where the security guard comes over and tells me I need to leave. Now this is where it gets weird. Remember the people heckling the comics I mentioned earlier. Well the security guard had come over and talked to the two groups and they were allowed to stay. But for some reason calling the comedian out on his racial epithets is not allowed.
The security guard calls two other staff over. They ask me if I’m cool. I say «I’m cool.» They both say «you can’t talk to the comedians.» I say «ok I get it. I won’t.» At this point I just want the security guard to move on so I can enjoy my night. The two people he called over seem cool with me acknowledging the rules. But the security guard isn’t. He’s standing on the side fuming that his boys didn’t back him up and kick me out. He stands right in front of the group to our left and stares at me. While Joe Bartnick makes one last attempt to make a funny black joke. «I hope the next comedian is a black woman» he says. Confused looks all throughout the crowd.
Now don’t take my word that the ice house security is hypersensitive to comments towards the comedians. Read the prior Unilocal reviews. I mean really? If you’re going to talk trash about people in the crowd and expect them to not say something back you’re not only being unrealistic, you’re just being lame.
Fast forward one comedian later (Wendi Starling was next and she’s actually funny) the security guard is still fuming. Meanwhile my friends and I are just laughing at Wendi Starling, the next comedian, who is actually funny. We pay no attention to the guard. But the security guard, not to be outdone sneaks off and calls the cops. Really man? The situation was over 15 mins ago. Everyone is having a good time now. And you want to call the cops??? WTF? The real police come in and escort us out. Kelsey the manager didn’t do anything to diffuse the situation. She says «I have to side with security.» Not listening to the other two staff members who were clearly ok and gave me head nods. So the cops escorted us out. No refund for the entry fee. We are the only group that gets kicked out for so-​called heckling. The group next to us was so disgusted by how they treated us that they walked outright after us in protest. And they let management and the cops know they were protesting on the way out. I asked Kelsey why we got singled out. Kelsey at this point, realizing it wasn’t just us, said she’d let us back in. At this point it just wasn’t fun any more.
We decided to leave.
Props to that couple.
Joe Bartnick, security guard, Kelsey, shame on you guys. You give the Ice House a bad name. Comedy should be fun. And if your comedian stops telling jokes and goes on a personal tirade about any group of people, you should check him, not the crowd that calls him out.
WORST COMEDY CLUB EXPERIENCE EVER.
Pro tips:
–the comedians will to try to engage you but don’t fall for it. Security may kick you out
–skip Joe Bartnick (he goes first) unless you’re up for unimaginative race jokes (think: a poor man’s Andrew Dice Clay)
–Wendi Starling is funny

So we came to the ice house tonight and after 2 great comics the 3^rd comic JOE BARTNICK comes out with Donald trump type bravado to make not only racist but unfunny jokes and ice house calls security calls the police when we call him out for his jokes. We will Never support this place again. Several tables walked out on this show with us when this happened. The management sided with their racist unfunny comic and kept our ticket money. As I promised here is the review.

Horrible experience, horrible security, horrible management. A racist comic named Joe Bartnick couldn’t take the heat when he was called out on his racist comments. Security was called and then the police. Thank you to the other tables that walked out with us. We will never support this place again.

Love this place! My boyfriend and I are locals and are grateful it’s just down the street. We come about once a month. They serve great drinks and never fail to make us laugh! We Would defiantly recommend this place any time of the week.

It was fun.
But if you’re a comedian, and are trying to interact with the audience, Don’t get offended when the audience members start joking back with you.
Your a comedian learn to take a joke! Stop being a bitch and calling people out! And telling security to put a stop to it!

I went to see Chris Rock on Wednesday. First, let me say how the Ice House made a mistake on the day Chris was performing. First, I read Tuesday, then my ticket said Wednesday. Ok. Fine.
I arrive Wednesday and get in line. Some ruuuuude Vato asks to see my I.D. I am inside and ask another ruuuuude staff if I could sit in the back since I went solo to this event. She explained she couldn’t accommodate because the seats were reserved. Ok, fine. I am then smashed in between 2 couples and ask the waiter if I could sit in the back corner since it felt too crowded. He said he’d ask someone else. My waiter returns and said it wasn’t possible for me to change my seat. He then takes everyone else’s drink order EXCEPT MINE. He COMPLETELY IGNORES me for the remainder of the night.
I decide to ask 1 more time to sit in the back since we were already 40 minutes into the show. Six Reserved seats were empty. I ask the Vato again if I could move and still got a «No.» I asked why not and said he would talk to his manager. B. S!!! He didn’t want to deal with me anymore. So, that was my experience with the rude ass staff at the Ice House. Overall, I had a great time and Chris Rocked!

I signed up for their email notifications, so when they added a last minute Chris Rock show, I pounced at the tickets.
Normally huge comedians pop in only to test new materials… In Chris Rock’s case, they were materials for the Academy Awards hosting.
We parked in the garage structure across the street. I remember usually paying $ 5 to park but I guess it’s free on weeknights.
I didn’t print out the tickets, I just picked em up at the window. We got in line, big security man checked my ID to verify I had purchased tickets before letting us to the ticket Window… It’s an extra $ 7 for VIP treatment. I think that just means guaranteed good seating if it’s jammed packed.
So they sent us all to Stage 2 waiting area by the bar where people can order food or drinks (which don’t count toward the 2 items minimum per person FYI– it only counts if you order in the showroom)… Well, our show was @10pm but they didn’t start seating till 10:30ish. Oddly, even though it seems that we’re behind a mob of people, we still got wonderful seating by the stage.
Before entering, they made sure we silenced our phones n then locked each cell in a pouch that we carry with us… To be unlocked outside, after the show. I guess per request by the comic star. No wiki leaks here.
The intro guy is the creator of Real Husbands of Hollywood. He shocked everyone when he welcomed Louis CK to the stage!!! That was our warmup guy!!! Well, he and Chris Rock do go wayyyy back since The Chris Rock Show back in the late 90’s. He dished out a bunch of new materials as well. Chris Rock, needless to say, was solid genius.
Service was on point, they’re awesome at what they do! Tip: Know where your restrooms are because its importante… Trust me.

If I could rate this place with negative 5 stars, I would.
This place was home to me & my family for generations. My mother grew up going here & I started coming since my 24^th birthday. I would bring my friends here all the time.
The past month though they had some free shows for comedians so I decided to try it. I brought a lot of people, & u can bet they brought the Icehouse a lot of business.
So last night when I did another show, I was un-​pleasantly surprised when they demanded $ 7.50 at the door to my friends who traveled over 20mi away. I asked the comedian hostess & she said that was not the deal & sat us. She thought maybe it was for another room.
Then, in the middle of the show in front of everyone, Brandon the manager pulls me out from the last act of the show because 2 of my friends didn’t pay the drink minimum. No last call, nothing. So I said I’d cover them, the manager says it’s too late & wont let me back in.
He blocks the door as I’m demanding over & over to let me back in as I’ve had plenty of friends who paid & he just keeps taunting me. My friends have no idea what’s going on so I just went & tried to open the door with him on it & he says I «laid hands» on him & shoved me back across to keep me from going in, telling me to leave. Then he called the cops on me.
No more Icehouse for me! Not unless Brandon and all that management can get their communication on point & they learn how to respect people. Worst service I’ve ever received. Bad move on Icehouse.

I had an amazing time last night at their All Star Thursday night. The food was great. Drinks was reasonable but service was slow once show started. Our waiter never checked back in with us to see if we had an additional request.
The comics was good. We even had a surprise guest. Overall my experience was great.

Two drink minimum with our show. Not sure if this is the case with every show, but I didn’t really care for that. Came on a slower night where the service managed to be even slower. Two drink minimum AND slow service was not a great combo.
The comedians were ok. Some were hit and miss for me, but I can’t really hate on comedians and their acts because I respect their hustle and grind. I will say though, there was one guy who did like a carrot top style, propped filled act that was not that funny to me.
Come here for a low key time but maybe also on a day where there’s a comedian you want to see. That may help your experience.

We got here at 7pm for the 8pm show… We sat in their cute little bar/​waiting room. The bartender never came to take our order so we went to the bar to order… Maybe that is how they do it… No one seemed to mind. Everyone that came into this bar/​waiting area went up to order. It was a cute little waiting area with a couple of tvs. There was plenty of tables and stools. The restroom’s were co-​ed (boy/​girl) that was different… I thought twice about going in, but after a glass of water and a martini, I didn’t have a choice! The restrooms were very clean! I was impressed! There are only three bathrooms in the place so don’t wait till the end of the show to go… The line was about 10 minutes long at every restroom!
At 730 they walked us in. They stand at the door and tell you where to sit! I like to sit in the back so that no comedian can use me in their jokes… But… They sat us right in the front of the stage! Excellent seats! They did include me in a few jokes!
The comedians were so funny! And so not politically correct! Never stopped laughing.
We had a shrimp kabob plate, chips and salsa, two beers and two martinis… The bill was $ 65… Not Bad!
At the end of the show they pulled a name from the little cards that were filled out on the table… They called My Name! I got a free pass to go back and dinner.
We will definitely be Back!

RAISING THE LAUGH-​O-​METER!!!
BACKGROUND:
Opened in 1960, this little club located «in an alley off a one way street» is truly legendary. During 50+ years, over 4 million people have hared thousands of hours of laughter and song at The Ice House. It’s difficult to name a major comedian who hasn’t appeared here. Robin Williams… Lily Tomlin… George Carlin… Steve martin… Bob Newhart. and others too numerous to mention have all wowed audiences in an intimate 200 seat showroom.

EXPERIENCE:
It’s been a bit over a decade since I’ve been to the Ice House for some laughs. Fellow hiker purchased tickets online and we arrive well before the required 30 time so we could hang in the bar sipping on hoppy suds. After check-​in we were escorted to the bar area. The bar wasn’t crowded at the time as we were able to snag a table and a couple bar stools. Just as we were finishing up, a host entered the bar and instructed everyone to line up. Being very close to the entryway of the showroom, we didn’t have to stand in line long before we were seated.
Since it wasn’t a sell out, we were able to pretty much choose our seats. Not wanting to be picked on, we choice the darkest seats in a corner. Server was quick to come by and take our drink orders, both beverages ordered at the same time to minimize distractions during the show. Beverage selection is limited and a bit on the pricy size. Surprised?! Shouldn’t be, they gotcha. And don’t think ordering a carbonated drink will save you any money, they are just as expensive.
Once a majority of the attendees were seated and drinks were delivered the MC of the eve came out to get our laugh warmed up and on track. Each comedian had their own style and unique delivery.
All-​in-​all, Ice House is a quaint Pasadena icon to come with a friend or more to relieve some stress through laughter.

I came here on Saturday night to support a friend. Who would have known that going to this comedy house would cost so much money?
The first obvious expense are the $ 20 entrance tickets. Be sure to check on Groupon and third party sites to find discounted tickets! They do exist!
The tickets recommends you to come in early. Be aware, if you do come early, you are most likely to wait in the bar and buy drinks. The drinks are carefully measured with jiggers and you do not get one drop more/​less… unless you pay extra. Their mediocre alcohol was not cheap and I remember being charged ~$ 11 for a simple vodka soda.
Once you enter the performance area, the usher asks how many people are in your party and seats you in a large yet packed room. I guess this is why it’s important to come here a little bit earlier… because you may miss out on a good seat. The seats are not permanent and you can ask to move before the show begins.
Prior to the performance, the waitress/​waiter takes your REQUIRED two drink minimum orders. If you ordered a drink at the bar, your bar drink is NOT included as your two drink requirements. Their cocktail menu is pretty large and it is roughly 12 — $ 14. Fortunately you can order non-​alcohol drinks, and meet their drink requirements as well.
The performances started a couple of minutes late and it was quite entertaining. Even if the acts were over-​the-​top amazing, I really didn’t like how this venue has so many strict requirements.
Be prepared to dish out $ 50+ per person.
