Grace has done my engagement makeup and hair. Let me just say that she is a wizard with bridal beauty. BOOK HER! You wont regret it. I wanted to have a little fun with my engagement photos and so on the day of our engagement photo I showed her a photo of the beautiful French actress Bridget Bardot. I wanted to have big hair with dolled up makeup. My fiancé and I are a bit quirky and chose to have a mod style/​lifestyle photoshoot, which is a little less conventional than the normal natural bridal look. Just one look on my iphone for reference, and Grace was on it. She knew exactly what would look great for me and did it.
My photographer just gave our photos back and I love how my hair and makeup look. Amazing style Grace has. I was a little apprehensive at first because I thought I looked a little over the top but it worked out great for the photos. I believed it flattered my face shape while still giving me the vibe and style I wanted. It was a lot of fun too! As a person, Grace is kind and very very sweet. I genuinely enjoyed talking to her, and she is incredibly calm and so hardworking! She is not at the very least inconsiderate or pushy like many makeup artists out there. She also takes her time, and listens to your every concern. She has made this process so much easier for me. So thank you! If you can book her, you won’t have to worry about how you are going to look on your wedding day, because she will make you look beautiful!

I had a great experience with Grace and her team for my wedding. Grace was always very responsive to my questions and requests, and gave a lots of candid, professional advice in terms of the overall hair/​make-​up design for me. As Grace wasn’t available to help me on my wedding day, I had Renee help me with my hair and make-​up. Renee was super nice and very attentive to my questions and requests. She also made sure I always looked great during the wedding day, fixing my hair and doing touch-​up for my make-​up without me asking for it. I had five bridesmaids, and Grace and her team did a wonderful job with all of them as well.
I’d definitely recommend Grace, Renee and the team to my friends and family.

I am very pleased with Grace’s skills and artistry!!! She and her team did makeup and hair for myself and my bridal party and the results were WOW. She really knows her crafts and makes me super beautiful. I got compliments all night long thanks to Grace! She is very sweet, patient, and hardworking. On top of that, she genuinely cares about you and your special day. She kept telling me I look like a celebrity LOL… it’s an exaggeration but she certainly makes me feel like it. I have had the pleasure of working with Grace’s company three times! The first time was when I was a bridesmaid for my sister’s wedding. Grace and her team did an exceptional job. My sister had several bridesmaids and friends who were serviced by Graces’s team – everyone looked beautiful. So when my wedding came around, I chose to work with Grace again.
My experience with Grace the second time around was even better. I originally booked her for a date in May, but when my husband and I had to move our wedding up to February due to an illness in the family (giving us only two weeks to plan the whole wedding), Grace was completely understanding. She was very quick to rearrange things and never gave us a hard time. If anything, she showed such sympathy and respect for the situation we were in, it was very touching. She was going to give me another trial session in case my original makeup and hair artists couldn’t be available in two weeks, which I know she really didn’t have to do; it was so kind of her! Thankfully, she ended up securing my original hair and makeup artists (Tee and Rene, respectfully… They were AWESOME!). She and her colleagues worked so hard to help give me what I wanted on my wedding day, despite such short notice… Can’t really put a price on compassion.
The work that Rene and Tee did was amazing. I wish I knew how to post photos (I literally signed up for Unilocal just to write this review so I don’t know all of the features available). They did the makeup and hair for my entire party and everyone looked stunning. They came to my house at 5am and finished everyone (8 people in all) by 9am. I remember being so grateful for Grace and her entire team. They were just so professional and kind. Something that is so appreciated when you’re dealing with the chaos of a wedding. :)
The last time I worked with Grace was just recently for my brother’s wedding. Again, it was a last minute request (about a week’s notice) that Grace somehow managed to pull a team together for. As usual, she and her team delivered on quality and talent. While doing my makeup, Grace and I were reminiscing about our past encounters. She was able to recall the dates of my wedding (both the original one and the sudden rushed one). I was impressed! It’s clear she sleeps, eats, and breathes her profession. By now, I’m pretty certain Grace will be called upon for many future parties and weddings. We still have two more siblings in the family who haven’t gotten married yet! :). I look forward to working with her again very soon! :).

Grace Lin was recommended to me by my wedding photographer and I’m so happy she was available for my wedding! From my first inquiry I knew she was going to be awesome. I just had a trial with her 2 days ago and I am so happy that I booked her :) Grace was really sweet and so easy to work with. She also made you feel so comfortable which is really important. You could tell from the moment you met her that she knew exactly what she was doing and that she loves her job. I never had airbrush done before, but it felt so light like I wasn’t wearing any makeup yet gave great coverage. Even my fiancé who usually doesn’t like makeup said that my makeup was perfect. I couldn’t have been happier with the results. I can’t recommend Grace enough, she is so talented at her craft and you can tell she really loves what she does. If you’re thinking of booking Grace, act quick before she gets booked up! She’s worth every penny. I will update after my wedding day.

I booked Grace Lin for my hair and makeup for my wedding day. From my first meeting with Grace, I knew I made the right choice. Grace really listened to what I wanted and took the time to help me find my perfect wedding look. She recommended Halle to do my wedding hair and makeup. Halle turned out to be the perfect person for me. After I doing her trial, I knew I was in good hands. Halle really is a «one stop shop» when it comes to wedding beauty. She does hair, facials and makeup. She was awesome! She made me look perfect for my big day.
I can’t forget how great Evie was too. She did all the make up for my wedding party and every girl looked amazing. They made my wedding day perfect.

Worked with Halle, one of Grace Lin’s team member to help me with my wedding day makeup on 4÷30÷2016. At the makeup trial she spent her time to meticulously create a perfect spring look for my wedding. She spent so much time to work on making my eyes appear bigger (I have those Asian monolids if you know what I mean). Knowing that I had naturally oily skin, she recommended using air brush technique for my foundation so my face does not shine so quickly. She came on time (even a few minutes earlier than scheduled) to my house the day of the wedding and worked quickly to go through my Mom and my bridesmaids’ makeup. She did a wonderful job on my makeup and she was even available to come later during the day to touch up me and my mom’s makeup. Overall, she was wonderful and accommodating and easy to work with. I highly recommend her for future brides. Thanks Halle!

I wanted to get doll up but not overly made up for a friend’s wedding. So I consulted with Evie and asked her to do my makeup and hair. I personally don’t like heavy makeup but also don’t want a barely there natural look for the occasion. Since I didn’t really have an idea of what makeup look I was going for, I told Evie to decide for me. I requested no heavy foundation though. Evie was extremely patience and took her time in trying to accommodate my request. She went for a look that is not too heavy on the face but still makes me feel special for the occasion (I didn’t want to overdo the bride as well). She was quick at giving helpful suggestions/​advices and quick at doing what she does. Also, love how she was able to get my hair to the hairstyle I requested (btw I was late for the time I was told to arrived. Forgetting how much a monster LA traffic could be…). Evie was able to complete the hairstyle in the nick of time for me to leave. Thanks to Evie I got many compliments at the wedding for hair and makeup. Thanks again Evie for taking your time and effort in helping me get ready.

My makeup artist was evie bang, she was great with hair, makeup and nails. She really took the time to talk to me and understand what kind of style I was looking for. She was very creative and artistic, she tried her best to accommodate what looks the best on me vs. time. She works quick and was very detail orientated. I would highly recommend her as your makeup artist.

These girls know what they’re doing.
Halle and Maggie are absolutely WONDERFUL. They are masters at their craft and understand lighting, angles, and facial composition. These ladies listen to the client and are so accommodating. Emergency? They don’t even blink. I can’t thank Halle and Maggie enough for making everyone look flawless and feel cared for. Professional and veterans, they know what they’re doing and effortlessly collaborate with videographers and photographers to make sure your getting ready shots are perfect.
My makeup and updo lasted ALL DAY. I did not hold back on the dance floor — that updo was impressive!
Grace was also perfect when it came to booking and logistics. She was so understanding with the various changes I had to make (within the policies listed in the contract, of course) and never made me feel like I was troublesome.
Masters at what they do and professional? Can’t ask for more!

Short version: I used Grace Lin’s senior artists for my wedding. I had to fly in for my makeup and hair trial and the hair stylist was not available when I got to my appointment. I ended up doing 2 hair trials but they were both below my expectation. My hair was falling out everywhere after a few hours. They seem to be unable to work with fine Asian hair.
They were late on my wedding day. I had to change my hairstyle because I found out from the trial they couldn’t do what I hoped, and my makeup was totally different from my trial, which came out fine but I wasn’t impressed. I also had 1 mom’s hair and 3 of the bridesmaids’ hair & makeup done, and they felt the same way. We had a complimentary makeup & hair service for the groom (worth $ 50). The makeup is just a dust of powder foundation. His hairstyle did not stay. He could’ve done it a lot better if he did it himself. I paid $ 530 just for myself, which is definitely not worth it. They need to work on their punctuality and communication skills.
Long version: My wedding was a destination wedding, so I wanted to schedule to meet with all of my vendors the same weekend. I originally wanted to fly in the weekend before Halloween, but the hair stylist Maggie was not available on that particular weekend to do my trial. So, I scheduled to do my trial and set up all my meetings with the vendor, some which I had to reschedule, during Halloween weekend.
The day of the trial, my makeup artist Halle greeted me, but my hairstylist Maggie was not there. I was in shock because I had changed my flight and appointments with the other vendors so I could have my hair trial on the same day as my makeup trial. Halle also seemed really surprised especially when I told her I had to fly in from out of town. She mentioned that she had spoke with Maggie and Maggie told her she was not on the schedule. Maggie lives in San Diego so she couldn’t meet us last minute either. Halle immediately went to call Grace and when she came back the story seemed like it changed. Apparently Maggie got food poisoning and emailed Grace saying she had to go to the emergency room. Grace couldn’t even come in for her since she was in Taiwan. If this was true, I understand things happen but why didn’t Maggie call Grace, instead of emailing, especially if she knew she had an appt with me? Then maybe Grace could have found someone else to come in for her. Why didn’t Maggie tell Halle about her situation? There must be a lack of communication within the team. Why did I change my appointment with all the other vendors and decide to fly in during Halloween weekend when I would have preferred to stay at home and spent it with my friends? Grace apologized, but I never heard anything from Maggie herself. BUT something was telling me that Grace actually forgot to schedule Maggie for a hair trial with me. Especially since Halle had mentioned that Maggie didn’t see her name on the schedule. Also, Grace sends Google invitations when you have an appointment, and I noticed a few days after my trial that Maggie’s name was not on the list of people who were sent the invitation. I guess I will never find out what exactly happened. All I know is I was really upset and it caused a lot of stress for me.
Halle ended up doing both my hair and makeup trial. I had a side updo with some braids. The hair was falling out everywhere after a few hours. For my makeup, I did want something natural, but it came out a little too natural (except for my eyebrows were too dark) so we agreed that for my wedding day we will add a little more. Another annoying thing is that my trial took more than 4 hours because of Halle needing to call Grace and she had to continuously fix one part of my hair to try to get it right. This caused Halle and me to have to change our plans for the rest of the day.
Grace did reschedule my hair trial with Maggie the day before my wedding. I had so much to do that day, especially since I was coming from out of town, but that was my only option. I tried the same hairstyle as my first trial, but the hair started falling out a few hours again. It may be because I have fine hair, but I had higher expectations for someone I’m paying $ 530 and has experience working with Asian hair.
On my wedding date, they arrived a few minutes late and when I called them, I didn’t get an answer. This made me very nervous thinking they might not show up especially because of what happened during my trial. They also finished about 15 minutes later than what we expected. Since my hair didn’t stay during the trial, I decided to leave my hair down and went with a wavy side swept style. My makeup was totally different than what I had done during my trial too. My eyes looked a little too «Asian» and she did not curl my natural lashes so you could see it under my fake lashes. Also, some of my eye makeup did smear by the end of the night even though I didn’t cry. Definitely not worth what you’re paying for.

What can I say more about my stylist Cece! I could not ask for more about my experience with her. Her whole team were very professional and easy to communicate. I came in on an early Sunday morning with a photo of me in my future wedding dress. I was not sure what kind of hair and make up that would look nice with my V neck, cap sleeves wedding dress. I wanted something a bit like a combination of traditional but trendy. Cece took her time understood my needs and showed me a few photos of her suggestions. And she looked at my hair and suggested two styles suits me the most because I did have a lot of hair.
She was extremely patient with my makeup options too, since I did not like heavy fake eye lashes, she tried three different options on me and we finally decided on something really natural looking and made me super happy.
She almost acted like she could read my mind about my style, my experience at her lovely and quiet studio was such a pleasure. She also seems very knowledge about different styles of wedding dresses to go with the perfect hair styles, which did provide a lot of comfortableness for me.
When I saw my husband’s tears on my big day, I knew how pretty I looked. Thank you so much!

Makeup by Grace is the best of the best. I have used several makeup artist including those at MAC and Sephora and Grace blows everyone away. Not only did she do exactly what I wanted but it was better then I could have ever imagined. She is a true makeup artist and her passion shows through her work. She uses all high quality lashes and products. You will be amazed, My makeup stayed on all night without a need for touch up. She just made the final adjustments on my wedding day. I HIGHLY recommend her if you want quality.

Grace Lin Make Up is wonderful! I knew Grace and her team 5 – 6 years ago when she did my sister’s wedding. I went back to her for my wedding and needless to say she is, again, worth every penny! Grace loves her work so its not just a job for her anymore. She strives for excellence and it is very inspiring to watch her work. You want to work with a makeup artist who not only has talent, but works hard and loves her job. You also want to work with an trust worthy artist who consistently put out great work, not just depend on how she feel that morning! Grace Lin and her team is it!

It was a pleasure working with Grace Lin’s team for my October wedding. Her team is very professionally run in all aspects of the business.
Scheduling for make up trial was easy. Grace took genuine interest to get to know the client and provided thoughtful suggestions. Nora and Tee did my trial. Both of them were patient to listen and understand my expectation. Also very open minded to my feedback.
On the wedding day, both Nora and Tee showed up on time. They did a wonderful job on make up and hair for my brides maids, mother and myself. Their work is solid and consistent throughout the day. Grace also followed up to check on client satisfaction afterwards. I appreciated the ladies for creating some of the most gorgeous moments in my life. Highly recommend!

I decided to get my hair and make up done at the very last minute…2 days before I had engagement pictures. After I wanted to find a place where they were familiar with Asian make up. After checking Unilocal and looking at all the great reviews, I decided to give Grace a call. Grace got back to me right away and was able to book me with Rene, her senior artist. She quoted me $ 150 for hair and make up. Rene did a great job with my make up. it looked very natural and enhanced my features. My hair didn’t look as good as in person but it looked amazing in the pictures. Rene was very sweet and she was always willing to fix something if I wasn’t satisfied. She also took her time as well to make me look good. Because of the good quality make up and hair service and the great customer service, I decided to book facials with Vivi, so that my skin will look nice for my wedding! I’m excited to see how that will turn out… I will have to write another review for that :)

I first met Grace when I went with my friend for her wedding make up consultation; which she end up booking. I really liked her style and professionalism. Later, I had the opportunity to take some of her classes. I am a make up addict. so I know a thing or two about make up and hair. Whether you are a newbie or have your fair share of make up/​hair knowledge, Grace can teach you from the basic to giving you tips and tricks to on enhancing your natural beauty. If you are a make up addict like I am then you know how often trends and products come and go. Grace is constantly searching and learning new trends and styles. I really enjoyed the class and gain much more knowledge than I started with. I can’t wait to see what new materials she has to teach next.

Grace Lin is amazing! I loved what she did for my engagement and wedding makeup/​hair (engagement shots done December 2014 and wedding done in July 2015). For full transparency, I spent nearly 4 weeks reading reviews, interviewing, and looking at blogs. Of all the vendors I used for my wedding (florists, photographers), my make up artist was someone I spent the most time on.
Specifically, I initially interviewed 4 other vendors — Kelly Zhang, Theresa Huang, E2Beauty, and Elaine Chou — and thought that Grace and her team was the best given the price and what she included. She was extremely open to suggestions and very, very flexible to things that I wanted. I sent her a bunch of pictures of makeup and hair that I liked and she was honest with me about what could work and not work based on the hair type and facial structure I had.
Grace also really knew what she was doing — she knew how to accentuate your best features. As an Asian girl, I’m always focused on making my «eyes» look bigger and Grace did just that, but in a natural way too! The pictures turned out amazing and I received so many compliments. I even referred her to two of my friends who got married this year and they all went with Grace as well. Grace is an absolute pleasure to work with and a great person as well. She is not simply a «make up person» but is truly an artist. She is extremely passionate at her job and always is striving to improve herself and her art.
