Had a nagging problem with my old CRV that was getting serious (died once while moving on the fwy, a few times on my wife at traffic lights) and none of the mechanics in town could diagnose it. After a referral from one with a bunch of positive Unilocal reviews who will remain unnamed, Anyway, Norton was able to fix it and did it in no time at all. His service couldn’t have been better, and he did great work at a good price. I think I’ve found my new mechanic!

This place seems to have gotten a lot of great reviews. But my experience has been so frustrating and not very good with this mechanic. Norton seems to be knowledgable, but I’m not. As a customer with very little knowledge about my honda, I’m allowed to ask questions. Never have I been so rudely cut off by Norton. The first time I went, I was getting ready to go to NorCal so I needed him to do a full check on my car. He said he wouldn’t check it fully, because he doesn’t know whats wrong and doesn’t have time. So I responded and let him know that I understood, so please check all the major areas that needed to be checked for a long road trip and also change the oil. The car sounded better when I left and he recommended that I do a full check before I went! I had asked him to do JUST that before he said he wouldn’t do it. On the way to NorCal, my AC stopped working in the middle of June in the 100 degree heat. It was miserable. I looked at my work record from him and he hadn’t even looked into the freon levels in my AC. But I thought that this was the first time, so if I explain everything to him and have him look over the car again while I was away this past weekend, it might not be so bad. The attitude was the same, don’t have time, what’s wrong, and no room for my questions. I think I have a right as a customer to ask if he is able to check certain parts and areas of my AC since it’s been acting up, but ALL he did was refill the freon and said that there’s no way for him to check the other parts. I get that he’s busy, but I also never put a time limit to him because I work from home and able to freely leave my car for some time, if needed. For small jobs like oil changes and filling up fluids in the car, I’ll say that it’s reasonable. But don’t expect him to help you with your questions if he’s busy and you better know what you want him to do otherwise a full check is apparently out of the question.

I have owned nothing but Honda’s the past 20 years and this is my go to place for Honda repairs. I was introduced to this place by a coworker who has an Odyssey. Norton is honest and provides a VERY reasonable price in comparison to the Honda dealership. He was able to diagnose and repair a wheel bearing issue that the dealer incorrectly diagnosed as a tire needing to be rebalanced.

I was due for my 100k service on an Acura TL. The dealer quoted me 2 grand and Norton quoted me $ 1500. Easy choice. In addition to saving me money, they also got it done incredibly fast (in at 830 and done by 4 same day), the actual price was below what they quoted me ($ 1350 instead of $ 1500) AND they replaced a motor mount (not included in the $ 1500 estimate). I couldn’t have possibly asked for a better experience. If you’re near Pasadena and drive a Honda/​Acura, you’re nuts to go anywhere else to get your repairs/​maintenance done.

My check engine light came on and he told me to replace Oxygen sensors first. Two other shops were eager to replace the Catalytic Converter. Big price difference, he explained why to do the O2 sensors first. I appreciate his knowledge of Hondas, honesty and desire to help me save Money.

Norton and his staff are the most efficient and honest mechanics ever! He won’t try and scam you into replacing parts that your car doesn’t need. For example when my check engine light came on he informed me that the code indicated that the issue was with a valve. Instead of trying to persuade me into replacing it immediately and spending $ 300 he turned off the light and told me that if the light comes back on that he would perform another check. Did I also mention they changed my engine oil, front and rear brakes and rotated my tires all in 1 hour!!!

Norton is the kind of man you don’t run into much these days. Very sincere, honest, fair, and hard working – he is not just looking to make a profit off of you. He has years and years of experience working on Hondas and it shows. He knows the quirks of each model and how to treat them best. Definitely take your business here and also convert all your friends and family! Oh, did I mention that his gold-​star quality work is done using genuine Honda factory parts at usually at least half the price? You will wish you had never taken your car to another mechanic.

EXCEPTIONAL service and GREAT prices! Norton was very thorough and diagnosed several problems with my CRX. I had brought my car to him on a Friday and he stated that he was very busy but he could get to my car first thing on Monday morning. He did some temporary fixes to get me through the weekend-​I was able to safely drive from Pasadena to Santa Monica and back :). I took my car in on Monday morning and shortly thereafter, Min from the shop called me with a detailed estimate. It was SO reasonable. He said my car would be ready between 2 PM– 3 PM but it was actually done by 1:30 PM-​talk about great service!!! My previous mechanic would keep my car for days and charge astronomical rates. I’m so glad I found Norton and Genesis Automotive. I HIGHLY recommend this business.

I’ve been to Genesis twice — once for a minor service and once for just an oil change and inspection. These guys seem very honest and straightforward which is a big contrast from the Honda dealership where I’d taken my car for many moons. Norton was great about giving me a heads up about things that might be issues — but didn’t use any «you will die in a horrible accident if you don’t make this expensive repair now!» tactics that the dealership folks seem to think works. The cost was also very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Norton is really nice, and truly knowledgeable when it comes to Hondas. The prices are right, and he’s someone I would trust with any repair. No worrying that you will get ripped off. Trust his knowledge and advice.

I had an issue with my driver’s window getting off track, he’d fixed it once before, so the second time, he did it for free.

If you are thinking Norton is too good to be true, so did I… after 6 years of taking my various Hondas to him for service and repairs, even a couple of my friend’s Accords, I cannot say anything but He’s the best. I just dread the day he retires. He never tries to UP-​Sell like those highly profit driven dealers with bloated payrolls.
I just ask him, «what would you do if this is your car, Norton?» and I go with that advice. It has saved me lots of $$ and hopefully sent more work his way by referrals.
I love that he’s across the street from the dealer so parts are not far away and a block from Enterprise if I need a ride for the day while he’s working his magic.
Oh, did I mention I live 450 miles away and still make time to have him work on my Element? Now that’s loyalty earned.

Fast and friendly service! I feel comfortable bringing my Honda here. I recently got my car’s ignition coil changed and talked to Norton about replacing a spark plug. He did everything I asked and only charged me for the ignition coil. Any other place would’ve charged for every service completed.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed Genesis until now b/​c Norton and his crew are so wonderful… real life savers. Norton is the honest mechanic that people spend a lifetime searching for. He always makes time to help you in an emergency and his pricing is reasonable. I like that he only uses Honda/​Acura parts. He’s taken great care of me and my car for 2+ years now. Give Norton a try if you haven’t already. You’ll love him!

The reason why I bought a Honda for my commuter car is because of Norton @ Genesis. He is honest and very professional.
I’ve been going to him for about 4 years and you can’t ask more from a mechanic.

I’ve been to this guy for a couple of things now: broken window motor, old spark plugs, tune ups, busted head light, etc.
First of all, he’s always up front and honest about price in that he charges you for his labor and exactly the parts that you need, nothing else. For example, the engine light to my Honda Civic went on. When I called the Honda dealership about finding out what was wrong with it, they said it would cost $ 105 just to hook up the computer to my car to run the diagnostic. I called Lito over at Genesis Automotive instead and he said it would only take five minutes to hook up the machine and that it would be at no cost. I was right there when he did it, too and he let me look at the computer read outs for myself.
Also, when my headlight wasn’t working, I took it in and asked him to help me out. This was my first ever visit to him. He said to wait ten minutes while he got a screwdriver so he could replace the head light right there on the spot. He didn’t even charge me for labor, just the $ 15 for the light bulb.
Finally, he tries to work with your schedule. By this, I mean that he gets the job done quickly if you need your car back by a certain time and also, if you can’t pick your car up until late after work, he’ll stay in the office later for you.
He used to work for the Honda dealership right across the street, but left them when the manager started cutting corners on work and charging more than what was needed to maximize profits instead of looking out for the customers.
Bottom line: he knows what he’s doing, and he’s an honest guy. Those are the best qualities you can find in a mechanic.
