Foodies Café is conveniently located in the Arts Center and is across the street from my job. So when my coworkers and I need a place to grab lunch we call on Foodies as one of our go to spots. We usually call ahead for daily specials and place our orders ahead of time because they do draw a crowd. Some of my faves are the lasagna, turkey/avocado/bacon sandwich, and pastrami. They also sell the usual chips, soda, cookies, and other baked goods. Foodies Café is also very reasonably priced and always comes with tons of food for the price. Service is always fast, friendly, and they strive to make sure you are satisfied. Will definitely be back.

I don’t like burritos but everyone raved about it so I ordered the breakfast burrito«with everything». It comes with two freshly-made salsas: red and the spicy green. Delectable favors in one tight package. Absolutely delicious. They serve good Starbucks coffee too. The service, by the couple who owns the place, is friendly, welcoming and easy-going. Large selection of lunch choices and a daily soup special are on the blackboard. It’s a tiny place with three small tables, inside the Arts School building, right by the 110 entrance, with no signs outside for the coffee shop, so just drive in and park in the building’s parking lot. The entrance is from the parking lot. They validate for an hour.

Let’s be honest with ourselves… for a cafeteria the food this Asian lady makes is Fantastic!!! I am a Fitness specialist and health freak that due to my super busy schedule I have been forced to even neglect my own body having to eat not what I should or at the times I should. I am simply way too busy to be able to eat the way I used to years ago. I am so happy I found this little place at a walking distance from the gym I work from so I can eat well now that this food is so clean and light in fats and sodium. No comparison to any other breakfast place I know, franchised or a whole in the wall. I am very glad I found this place, even my wife has less to worry! But please… don’t take my word for it, if you have time and are in the area try it yourselves! You will enjoy it as much as I did! And the portions are NOT small at all, it depends how much you eat. The prices… the prices are unbeatable! Try them! Highly recommendable!

The staff here is really friendly and the prices are great. They even remember my name and my favorite orders. They are kind of in a secret location in the Jacobs building, but I’m telling you – it’s worth stopping in for a breakfast burrito or one of their hot sandwiches.

I found Foodies because I have clients in that building and one day I wanted to grab some lunch before my meetings began. So, I went into Foodies, which is in the lobby of the 1111 building. I found the food and service to be terrific! I now arrive before my client meetings just to eat at Foodies! Sue and her husband and assistant chef do a marvelous job of offering high quality fresh food daily. They cater too! By the way, Foodies makes the best tuna salad sandwich, ever! It’s one of my favorites. I haven’t met anyone yet who doesn’t like the food and the people there! Breakfast, lunch, and very very late lunch but no dinner. I’ve grabbed take out at 3:30 one day. They mostly do take out, but there are three or four two-seater tables for seating.

This cursed area of town has next to no restaurant/lunch options within walking distance. Gerlach’s and Subway don’t really count as food, so imagine my delight in finding Foodies! It was only by a quirk of fate to have even found out about this place, it has no sign or outer appearance of existence, just one lone review putting it on «the Google map” – which my sharp-eyed friend came across. This is a lunch or breakfast place only, they set their rhythm to that of the employees in the office building they occupy, and close by 4 o’clock. What Foodies’ lacks in marketing savvy, they make up for in personable charm. The owners Su and Alex(think I got that right) are very attentive and warm, and remember you if you’re a regular. Most of the sandwiches are well-priced but merely so-so. If you’re going that route, I suggest the Cobb sandwich, one of the better options. I also liked their breakfast burritos. What you should really come to Foodies for is their daily specials. Unfortunately, those are set weekly, so you can’t know just by the day what the special will be. Su’s home cooking(the specials) is usually the stand-out thing to eat, accordingly I love love love the Korean BBQ(comes either *very* spicy, or non-spicy, or combo) which they made usually about once a week. Another favorite among my peers is the bi bim bap, and the chicken enchiladas are pretty good too. If you can find them, check ‘em out! Tell Su and Alex I said hi.

Foodies is the«office café» in the Jacob’s Engineering building, so I doubt you’ll come here for you’re Valentine’s Day dinner… Still Foodies has its charms, and merits notice as a step up from your traditional office café. I give it four stars — this rating is compared to its peer group, and not, say, The French Laundry(although both are very good). At Foodies, the food is fresh, made on demand, which is a real plus, as you can customize your order. They serve breakfast from 7−11am, and I can’t tell you nice it is to be able to get a late breakie at work. Well I guess I just did — it’s great. The breakfast menu has fairly standard SoCal café fare — various presentations of eggs & meat, breakfast burritos(available in small, medium, and instant cardiac arrest combos), as well as healthy options like oatmeal. Lunch has an assortment of sandwiches, a daily hot special, and a nice selection of salads. Some menu items have an Asian flare, which makes the menu more interesting. Everything is tasty. The staff quickly comes to know you by name, along with your menu preferences. I get that«Cheers» feeling at Foodies, but in an engineering building rather than a bar… The first time I ate here, I noticed that all of the meals were packaged to go. I joked to myself that it was probably so all the engineers could take and eat their lunches in front of their computers in their cubicles. Going back to my cubicle(with my lunch) I saw that, indeed, *almost everyone* was eating their lunches in their cubicles, while working silently on their computers. I couldn’t be so cliched — I’m a scientist and not an engineer — so I did a u-turn, and went to the lunch room, where I sat by myself and read the news on my laptop.
