If I could give Evolutions and Mike, the stylist, 10 stars I would! I have had many long term hair stylists and only change when I have to; I have been searching for several years now for a new salon and stylist. I have found it! I have difficult hair, allergies and sensitive scalp issues due to chronic health stuff, lupus being one of them. Finding a stylist who understands it isn’t easy. I have never walked out of any salon feeling this great about my hair — EVER! My hair is amazing, the color is perfection, and style is low maintenance! Mike is an artist and a magician! You have a lifetime customer, and I love my new cut and color!

I’m moving away from the west coast soon and Denise will be one of those irreplaceable people. She is an amazing stylist and consistently cuts with care and precision. Time and again, she has creatively helped me make a bob cut my own style. Denise is so professional striking such a great balance between being personable without invasive, as we visit while she cuts and styles my hair.
If you have short hair or a bob-​styled hair, you can’t go wrong with Evolutions salon, and schedule with Denise!
Lastly, Evolutions was consistently gracious with helping me find appointment times with Denise. I was traveling for several months and they we very accommodating, and always professional with scheduling and at the reception desk. Thank you!

Sabrina does a great job on my color. Love it. Prices are low for the area. Only downside (that they don’t really get to control) is parking: on-​street parking in front of the place is only 1-​hour which isn’t really long enough if you’re in for a cut+color, and I almost always see parking enforcement tooling around in their silly little cart. If you’re lucky you can grab one of their reserved spots in the back, but best to budget a little time to find parking a block or two away that you may have to pay for. Such is life.

I want to leave a review for Liz. I made an appt the day of and was able to come in for a quick haircut. I found evolutions on Unilocal so i was slightly worried tryig a place based on Unilocal reviews but… I am EXTREMELY happy and so glad i went. I got my haircut with Liz. I havent been to a new stylist for over 8 years and believe me, i was nervous. I have a strict A frame hair cut that i get all the time and Liz basically nailed it. The moment i walked out of the salon, i started receiving compliments from strangers i ran into, people asked where i got it cut from and of course, i recommended liz. I was dying to find a new hair stylist and now i found one! Thanks Liz and thanks evolutions for letting me come in last minute and the amazing experience!

Just had a fabulous experience and hair cut by Liz H at Evolutions Salon. Liz was awesome in every way — from her warm welcome and lovely shampoo, to her guidance and questions, and most importantly, the final result– all top notch! Prices are great. The receptionist is great. Very happy with my visit!

Where to begin? I chopped my hair that was down at my waist into a Christy Turlington circa 1990s short pixie cut. Initially I chopped it to a short Wilson Phillips 90s looking cut with Cat and then went in a few weeks later for the even shorter Turlington cut with Jess.
Cat and Jess are amazingly talented and I cannot recommend them enough. I have gone to other salons over the years when I had a flat-​lined rut of a love affair with long hair and they have given me basic bobs after telling me I cannot pull off short hair… which I now know to be more a testament of how in touch they are with their lack of skill and confidence and intuition to execute a short cut… and basically, fear attributed to their deficiencies as a hairdresser that understands the whole picture and a whole aesthetic. Going to the right salon is kind of like going to the right Doctor for a diagnosis… sometimes you need second opinions… if you go to mediocre doctors/​salons.
But if you go here, their expertise is sufficient enough to trust the first visit.
I am so happy I found a place full of confident and skillfully adept women capable of properly assessing the potential for transforming hair to their client’s precise aesthetic desire while working with their well informed intuition as to how it will work with my face, my lifestyle, how it will grow out.
Nothing but trusty experts here! Finally a hair salon I can feel good about. They have a lot of range and capability to transform your vision into a flattering look. It’s been a while but my friends still aren’t over my hair and neither am I.

2 years later and I’m still coming to Denise for cuts and color. Longest relationship I’ve ever had with a stylist! She’s wonderful, and I know I’ll leave her chair looking and feeling great every time. I went in for a cut and color a couple of weeks ago with an awful case of laryngitis and she made sure I had a hot cup of tea to soothe my throat in hand within minutes. I don’t make it in as often as I would like, but Denise fixes me up every time :)

My review is for Denise, she is amazing! She did my hair for my wedding and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the result. She is so talented and the sweetest person! She also cuts my hair regularly and is great at listening and executing what I want.

After trying & failing to dye my hair myself I decided to go to a professional. I saw this place on Unilocal,& called to make an appointment, the receptionist was super nice and accommodating .
Coming in for my appt, Cat dyed my hair and did an AMAZING job. She was so nice and new exactly what I wanted & I couldn’t be happier!

The previous hair stylist who had been cutting my hair (for the last 4 times) kept getting my part wrong (and it’s not even a strange part), so after I washed my hair and styled it in my usual way, I was always left with these long straggly parts of hair that fell in all the wrong places in the back. I decided to look for a new hair stylist, googled «inexpensive hair salons Pasadena» and found Evolutions Salon. I even got a same-​day appt. (in an hour), which also was a lifesaver because my hair was driving me crazy.
Liz cut my hair, and boy, am I happy with it! I felt so good right after she cut it! She listened carefully to what I wanted, took her time shampooing, and did such a great cut and blow-​dry. She didn’t even have to use a hot iron on it (which is what I usually have to do). I couldn’t be happier with this cut! And it cost $ 50, which I thought was reasonable. Even though I’m scheduled to move from the L.A. area within a month, I might go back to get a little touch-​up trim before I leave, just because I’m so pleased with the new cut. Thank you again, Liz!

Mike is the best!!!
He is incredibly talented and clearly skilled at his craft.
For someone who doesn’t like to spend the day at the salon BUT expects amazing results, Mike delivers. He is efficient because he understands hair and can be trusted for both curly and straight textures (not an easy trait to find!).
Bottom line, he gave a great cut and my blonde highlights are gorgeous.
Book him ASAP.

Sabrina and kat totally kick butt. I love their work. Sabrina is a great haircutter and colorist. I keep coming back!

Came back to the salon for a hair conditioning treatment and blow out and my experience was 100% better. Jessica was sweet and took great care of my hair. She made good suggestions and was efficient. The owner is super nice and understanding. Free parking behind the salon which is a plus for a busy intersection.

I called first thing on January 2 to see if I could get an appointment that very day ! Fortunately the receptionist was sweet enough to set me up with Laura for a appointment that very morning !
It was my first time at this hair salon and was a little nervous due to normally going elsewhere for my cut but after talking and meeting Laura she definitely put me at ease. We walked through together how I wanted my cut and how I would want it to fall and automatically she got it ! It was a quick and painless process and I was in and out within an hour with new healthy hair ! She was so friendly and gave awesome hair tips on how to keep my ends healthy !
PS she gives awesome hair washes ! I almost knocked out !

This review is for Mike. I have long, long hair, down to my waist, and most places would have charged me well over $ 90 for for a haircut that I wanted (I wanted tons and tons of layers throughout my hair) but he only charged me $ 70! Well worth the price.
I cannot express how amazing Mike’s attention to detail was. I was watching him work the entire time, and he would study the hair meticulously before cutting the hair away. He would even triple check that the ends were even and that the layers were falling where they were supposed to be. I’ve been searching for a hair stylist for the longest time, and I think I just found the one! Very easy to talk to as well.
Would definitely, definitely recommend Mike! If you like a stylist that would definitely pay attention to your hair, listens to what you want, and is very, very detail-​oriented, Mike is definitely your guy.
P. s. He used to own his own salon on the east coast! You’re basically getting your hair cut by a hair salon owner for a cheaper price. Will definitely come back in a few months to change my look up. Thank you, Mike! (:

I first came here due to the stellar Unilocal reviews and returned the second time to get another perfect haircut from Cat! I couldn’t be happier with my experience at Evolutions, from the warm welcome at reception to the blow dry finish. Also, the cost of a haircut ($ 50 for mine) is quite a steal for the very high quality you get. And first-​time customers get 10% off their visit if they check in on Unilocal!
I highly recommend Cat (Catalina), as she does an incredible job and is super fun and easy to talk to. I was cutting quite a bit off and changing my style and she knew exactly what to do and guided me through the whole process. I loved her enthusiasm for my new style as well. Thank you, Cat and Evolutions! I’ll be back soon.

I met with David, the owner/​manager, briefly upon my arrival and shared that I had recently had a haircut that I was unhappy with and was hoping to have fixed. David recommended Mike and I am so glad he did.
Before we began, Mike asked what I was looking for and made recommendations. Then he worked his magic. I came in with uneven, chunky layers that did not blend at all and left with beautiful hair. It was incredibly easy to build a rapport with Mike; I found him to be personable, professional, and highly skilled. I would recommend him to anyone without reservations.
During the session, David stopped by a few times to check in to ensure things were coming along smoothly, which was really considerate and reassuring.
The salon was beautiful and I found everyone at the salon to be extremely warm and accommodating. The level of customer service here is impeccable. From my experience, it was quite evident that they take a lot of pride in the services provided and go out of their way to ensure everyone is happy.

After failing to comb through my tangled, waist-​long hair, I called Evolutions and asked if they had anything open that afternoon. The receptionist was very friendly and scheduled me for a 2pm appointment with Liz.
I had trouble finding the parking lot behind the salon, so I parked my car 2 blocks away on a residential street. Note: Street parking lasts only 2 hours.
Liz greeted me and offered me water upon arrival. She asked me what kind of cut I wanted, and I told her to cut my hair up to my collarbone. That’s more than 10 inches of hair, by the way. Liz seemed pretty excited to help me with this dramatic transformation. She asked me lots of questions about whether I wanted layers, if I wanted the front of my hair to frame my face, how short I wanted my bangs, etc.
After showing her some photos, Laura immediately went to work. She washed, cut and styled my hair. She was very friendly and super meticulous with her work. The whole appointment took about an hour, and the cut was $ 50. I tipped 20% in addition.
It’s been about a week since I cut my hair, and it’s retained much of its original shape. Liz did a great job with texturing my hair, which is awesome because I don’t usually style my hair. My head feels so light, and my hair actually BOUNCES when I walk.

I have not been cutting my hair on a regular basis because I was scared that a stylist might mess it up, especially since I have been growing it out for the past 2 years from a pixie cut.
I came in on a Thursday (during my lunch time since it was walking distance) just to schedule and appointment. MAN! This salon is not super huge but it was very spacious and it felt very comfortable. Not to mention, the receptionist was extremely friendly and very helpful.
She scheduled me for a 5:30 same day appointment with Julie.
After work, I went to my appointment and this time there were 2 receptionists there and they also were extremely friendly and made me feel wanted at the salon. Of course, they let Julie know that I was here and offered me refreshments.
Julie was SUPER awesome and very easy to communicate with. I explained to her how I just wanted a trim to get rid of all my dead/​split ends and she told me that she would be able to do that, and recommended adding in some layers so that my hair wouldn’t feel and look so heavy.
She answered all of my questions that I had in regards to taking better care of my hair (since I like to dye it myself all the time ;)). Instead of telling me to come back and have her dye my hair, she gave me some pointers on how to not cause so many split ends when dying my hair (which I loved! and now I actually DO want to go to her to color my hair lol).
While cutting my hair, Julie was super nice and very easy to talk to. I was super nervous and anxious at first, but the more I talked to Julie, the more comfortable I got.
After Julie was done with the cut and styled it. OMG!!! I LOVED IT! It was still the same length, minus all the split ends. The layers that she added in were PERFECT and my hair felt so soft again! I felt like a million bucks and was EXTREMELY happy and pleased with this look. I wanted to give her a big hug, but I forgot since I was so excited with my hair. LOL.
I am most definitely coming back to her again for all my cuts and colors.

After my previous unsatisfactory haircut at Evolutions Salon, the owner David called and offered me either a refund or a complementary haircut by another stylist. He said he just wanted to make sure that I was happy. So I decided two months after my hair grew back to give this place another shot.
I got scheduled with Sabrina. She did a great job cutting my hair compared to what I got before. Evolutions Salon also gave me free hair paste which was very generous of them. In the end, they did right by me to rectify my previous experience.
