I needed an LA lawyer and, of the thousands I could have picked, I chose Mr. Counts. And my experience with him shows that I chose wisely. Not only was Mr. Counts professional in every way, but all of the people on his staff were just as impressive. What I needed, and what every client and prospective client needs, is results. I had a challenging situation. A dubious «movie producer» defrauded me of quite a bit of money. Foolish me. I never expected to see any of my money. But, Mr. Counts had the knowledge and diligence to keep after this man and get me back my money. I never had to wait for reports of what was happening with my case. I was continually updated. And, I did not have to wait long for the next report because Mr. Counts and his staff did not let my case linger. Indeed, they treated me as if I was their only client. I could not ask for any better legal service.
Oh, incidentally, I suppose I should note that practiced law in RI for 35 years before retiring. I have dealt with many hundreds of lawyers over the years. I been among huge stars of the bar as well as people who should never have been allowed to become licensed attorneys. So, I have a pretty good idea of lawyers’ abilities, etc. And, in my estimation, Mr. Counts ranks with the very best attorneys I have ever known.

We had a lemon law issue with our car that was settled through Counts very quickly and efficiently. The fee was very reasonable and easily understood. We initially had a conference call with Attorney Counts to explain our situation then proceeded from there mainly through email, so no visit to the office was necessary. The office staff was always very courteous and professional. We would definitely use the firm again if we have a situation crop up.

This is an update review. Emahn recently advised me on a business contract for a startup I launched. I have used Counts Law Firm previously for 2 legal issues I was having. The first case was regarding a car that was a lemon. The second involved my need for a Power of Attorney for a family member. If their was a way to give 0 stars, I would. He will tell you that you get a ree initial consultation, but once you sign the agreement with him, he will bill you for it. He saids, it won’t cost much for the case, but will bill you many times over what your expecting. He charges a large hourly rate, and his billing hours are very sketchy. He can run up a huge bill in the tens of thousands on you very quickly. If you don’t pay the bill within 10 days, he will file a lien against real estate you own. If I had to compare his business practices to something, my best quess would be less than a used car salesman. Take my advise, and run away from this lawyer. My guess why he has some good reviews are they could be his friends. He is a one man operation, that has hurt our case and milked us for lots of money. Stay as far away from this man as you can.

If your fortunate enough to find this review before hiring this attorney, Don’t!
I paid 5,000 $ grand after listing to him tell me how great my case is, when looking back on what issues I needed help with it wasn’t about how strong the case was I simply needed a lawyers help to have my voice be heard– Emhan Counts himself did a fantastic job convincing me that this would be the case.
That is until after I got my bank on the phone and paid his retainer fee, from that day forward not only did I put together the entire case file for counts office but it was nearly impossible to get Emhan Counts on the phone for the next 6 months.
Here’s the good part to keep a long story short… I get a phone call from there office 2 days before my first case hearing in an official court.
Only to listen to them telling me I not only owe another 5,000 $ retainer fee for another 6 months yet I owe roughly 1,600 $ for paperwork they have been filing for me…
One other thing before I go on, Emahn counts will give you the whole sha bang about how Unilocal is being sued for the bad reviews, etc… If you ask. Try to stay away from that, his office is very shady and I’d do your research before going to him.
Unfortunately Their office was recommended to me by the state bar and in a state of desperation for help I made a huge mistake.
At the end of the 6 months Emahn counts and his short supply of trained staff called to tell me as well as email me if I did not make or come current on what I owed, which was a complete surprise to me they would file for substitution of attorney.
For those who don’t know, not only is this unethical but your attorney shouldn’t never tell you this…
I’ll try to post photos from my email from this firm to show the seriousness of my situation, very unethical attorney who will play himself up to you hear them most likely take you for your money & run know you’ll have to go through the slow process of contacting the state bar to file an ethics suite to possible get your money back.
Regardless a year worth of lost time… It’s not worth it!
Stay away from this guy.
Hired about 9 months ago from today’s date January 1^st 2015. Lost over 6,800 $ to his firm that I will probably never see again.
Don’t get tied up in 2 lawsuits, if you find this before it’s too late don’t bother calling him.
I’ll try to get those photos up soon, brand new to Unilocal but this predicament an attorney who I thought would protect me & be my voice now has me wanting to be the voice for our people before «professionals» like this hurt more people…
But don’t take my word for it, look at all his other horrible reviews. Unfortunately, I found this too late.

So I am a HUGE Unilocaler. I found Counts Law Firm via LA county bar association and of coarse I immediately Unilocaled the firm. I was extremely hesitant based on the reviews. But after receiving the phone call from the reception, Amy (to get my info) those feeling went out the window. Extremely professional and polite. When dealing with a law suit you cant think clearly and feel overwhelmed but after speaking with Amy it made me feel as though everything is going to be ok.
I was set up a few days later for a phone conference with Ehman to explain my case. I got advise on different options (nothing I wanted to hear) but it was very important for me to know facts in order to make a decision on which route I want to go. I got a great vibe and sincerity from him so I decided to have him represent my case.
Through out the process it has been very easy for me to communicate and receive answers (promply) which once again makes me know I made the right choice.
At this time my case has not been resolved but I still felt the need to post my experience on Unilocal.I am not sure what the out come will be but I know Counts Law Firm is doing everything on their end to represent me the best way possible, Thanks guys!
