Dental Exam

A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by your dentist at your initial dental visit. Regular check-​up exams will include the following:

Examination of diagnostic x-​rays (radiographs): Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. X-​rays also help determine tooth and root positions.

Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.

Gum disease evaluation: Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.

Examination of tooth decay: All tooth surfaces will be checked for decay with special dental instruments.

Examination of existing restorations: Check current fillings, crowns, etc.

Dr. Choi had her own private dental practice in Chino, California for 6 years before she moved to Pasadena, California. Dr. Choi has been in her current Pasadena dental office since January, 1991. She has been an ongoing member of California Dental Association and American Dental Association since 1984.

Dr. Choi graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1984. She was a registered nurse at Loma Linda University Medical Center before she started her dental career.

Dr. Choi then led her own private dental practice in Chino, California for 6 years before she moved to Pasadena, California. Dr. Choi has been in her current Pasadena dental office since January, 1991. She has been an ongoing member of California Dental Association and American Dental Association since 1984.

Dr. Choi has been involved in community activities as a Donated Dental Services Volunteer: CDA (California Dental Association) Foundation; Young & Healthy: A Community Medical & Dental Service Program for the Underprivlediged Children in the area of City of Pasadena

It is always a pleasure going to Dr. Choi’s quaint and clean offices for my check ups! She, along with her staff are all so friendly (I love Tina!!) AND I know my teeth are in excellent hands… so much so that even after moving 2 counties away I STILL make the drive to keep my bi-​annual appointment there! They make me actually look forward to going to the dentist :)

I’ve been Dr. Choi’s patient for over 20 years. I trust her and feel comfortable with her. She has an excellent memory and asks me about my family and job every time I visit her. Her prices are reasonable and she is ALWAYS on time. I have recommended her to several colleagues who have gone and switched to her. I am not a fan of dentists but I do not dread going to see Dr. Choi.

Dr. Choi has been my dentist for over 10 years, until I went to Hastings Ranch Dental Group for a Groupon special of $ 35.00 cleaning, x-​rays, and whitening. Big mistake, as they then tried to scare me into $ 4,000.00 worth of work. Said I needed 3 wisdom teeth pulled, etc. Went back to Dr. Choi, and it was only $ 150.00, no teeth needed extractions. She is very honest, and only does what is necessary.
She keeps her prices reasonable by not buying all the new high tech equipment like Hastings. All the work she has done on me has lasted, with no problems. She also puts me at ease, as she is very personable and caring.

For the past 11 years Dr. Choi has been my primary dentist. She has expertly and cost effectively provided me with teeth cleanings, fillings, replacing a broken tooth with a crown all in a painless and courteous manner. I am now over 50 so my dental care is becoming more important every day. In my life I have has several dentists and Dr. Choi and her staff are right on the top of my list. Only recently I needed to have wisdom teeth extracted and oral surgery is not a service Dr. Choi offers, but she was able to refer me to Dr. Larry Lytle who was a true expert in the removal of the wisdom teeth. With all this said I will end with my high recommendation for Dr. Choi to be your dentist too. Just don’t make her too busy as I need to make a cleaning appointment soon.

I completely agree with everything the other reviewer mentioned. Dr. Choi’s basic fillings all had to be replaced within 2 years. 1 cracked the first time I flossed. The fillings were painful and when I said I was in pain, she was unconcerned and said it was near a nerve.
My husband just switched to my new dentist and had to have his filling fixed and they found an additional one she missed.
Not only is she incompetent but her receptionist will HOUND you for an appointment. STAY FAR AWAY!
