Marcus J. Lemley, MD, started practicing Ophthalmology in Pasadena, CA at 185 South Euclid, in October 1974. The office relocated to 259 S Euclid in 1978, to 213 S Euclid in 1991 and finally in 2012 to 2619 East Colorado Blvd, Pasadena. The office in Glendora, CA was opened in 1991. The office in Arcadia, CA was acquired in 1998 and relocated to Monrovia, CA in 1999. These three locations comprise California Eye Specialists.

I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years and I can never complain. Doctor Lee is awesome and she’ll do what ever she can to find the best solution for her patients. On my scheduled appointments, I never had to wait! And a lot I’ve been seen before my appoint time!
5⁄5! I would totally recommend this place to anyone !

This is the worst place to go for any medical issues. Grossly unprofessional and uneducated doctors and staff. The so called «doctor» who did my Cataract Removal was the most grossly unprofessional, rude, not collected, and had anger management issues. He did not even care to tell me to take my eye medications after the surgery!!! The most unpleasant, uneducated, had no bedside manners and disrespectful. While I was waiting for my surgery, he attacked me verbally, he intimidated me and almost verbally harassed me. Unfortunately, I had IV in my arm and could not walk out. This is the worst, I mean «The Worst Medical» place that you need to use. The Surgery Center that they use takes the patients to the rest room to go over your paperwork!!! Do not use this facility and do not, I mean, do not use their doctors. The doctor who did my surgery needs professional help. This is my honest review so no one can go thru this. Run, Run, And Do Not Even Look Back. Horrible experience.

Haven’t had the surgery yet but I have no complaints at all about the office staff or the doctor. I was greeted by the front desk with a smile, my appointment was on time and the technician giving me the tests was friendly and very efficient. The doctor was very, very knowledgeable. He seemed so sincere and I felt at ease with him which is important to me.

Worst office ever, over-​booked, it’s been one hour since my appointment time was scheduled, and I’m sitting in a room waiting.
I’m just waiting for results.
No stars at all.
I should have known, they messed up my appointment a few times before I actually saw a doctor.
Wow!
I will also tell my primary care doctor how bad it has been.
I type real slow… still haven’t been seen!

Late, late, late. Had a 4:00 appointment. Managed to get in at 5:00. Happens every time I (unfortunately) need to go there.
Worse than the wait time is that they refuse to set up your next appointment when you’re there. They tell you to call a couple of months before your next appointment should be… Then when you call, they tell you there are no appointments when you need them.
This place is a JOKE.

I accepted the referral with reservations as I had read so many negative reviews here. I’ll start with the bad: I didn’t see Dr Lee until 20 minutes after my appointment. Thats all. Dr Lee conducted a thorough examination, and discussed many aspects of eye health and aging. There was nothing to complain about (they even had free parking), and I’ll gladly go back next year.

Tuesday morning, 3÷10÷15 (first time visiting)
A nice private parking lot with ample space without the crowd. I accidentally walked into the wrong office. While facing the building, enter through the right doors for California Eye Specialists. I walked to the front desk and one of the two girls greeted me. I signed in and she handed me a clipboard to fill out for new patients.
I took a seat in the waiting area where there were plenty of available seating. It had an old-​fashioned feel but calming. I believe it took about 45 minutes before I got called in. Once in the room, an assistant came in to do a quick evaluation and then left. Another 15 minutes passed by and then the doctor arrived.
I told the doctor the purpose of my visit was presumably pink eye but she analyzed my eyes and told me it was not. Apparently I had extremely dry eyes. It was a straight-​forward diagnosis and the visit went smoothly. She gave me sample of eye drops to use temporary and coupons to use when I buy more at the store.
My review is not based on the eye exam for glasses or contacts. This visit was pleasant based on a quick eye exam, which was to find out if I had pink eye or not since my eyes were bothering me for 4 months.

I don’t get all the negative reviews. We’ve had nothing but good experiences here. Dr. Ong is the utmost professional while the staff is courteous and pleasant. The office’s interior design and décor is unmatched by any other office i’ve been to. Great care was taken into the color scheme and lighting. One piece of advice-​this place gets busy so don’t be late for your appointment. In fact, go early and get in the queue early.
As for Dr. Ong, she’s very knowledgeable and has great bedside manner and her followup is impeccable. We’re glad our insurance referred us here.

This was one of the most unprofessional places I have ever been to. When coming here with my mother for her eye appointment I decided to make an appointment for my son and ask them if they excepted his insurance, they said they did. A month later upon returning for the appointment I had made for my son, they then told me they did not accept his insurance. Taking the day off to come in to get his eyes checked was a complete waste of time.

First, let me say the place is very pretty. Clean. Now on to the rest. Bridgette on the front desk is very nice and very helpful. Dr. Ong is great too. Marina in the surgery scheduling section, not so much. It seems as if one is infringing on her time by trying to get a surgery scheduled. I guess she would not be so condescending if it were her eyes needing surgery. Condescending. That word describes her perfectly.

Really hit or miss on any given day. And this location, along with their prior one on Euclid Ave. is always, always busy as in every waiting seat is packed. Have visited here four times (including their old Euclid Ave. location) to see ophthalmologists, who are actually very efficient and qualified. Never had an issue with billing from my HMO either. However, wait times here can get atrocious so say… a 3pm appointment will actually look like seeing a specialist at 5pm. Which is unpleasant if you are experiencing ocular pain like I have had in the past. There is sometimes only one ophthalmologist on-​site, so therein lies the problem.
Desk staff are fine, though the call-​in procedure is a bit confusing at times. Better to overstate than under to ensure a quicker appointment ;) All in all, this is my only choice for this type of specialist, but I’ve found it better to take time off work than try to jam in here during peak times. Something to keep in mind for those that have to schedule here.

If I could give them less than 1 star I would. The doctors seem well qualified, but the staff is most unhelpful. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to get through their wait time to make an appointment and once you get through you’re greeted with a ridiculous amount of attitude. Furthermore, their receptionists do very little to accommodate you in the appointment-​making process. It takes over 1.5 months to book an appointment unless they deem your concern an «emergency», in which they have a very ambiguous definition as to what that is. Even while explaining that I have a patient who needs immediate assistance due ongoing to eye pain, the receptionist did not consider that an emergency worthy of an immediate appointment. For the price we pay to see this doctor, it’s not worth our time or money to deal with this terrible service.

Had an appointment and I was told that my insurance only covered the «medical» part but if I wanted a prescription it would be an additional 55.00…I don’t know if something changed with the insurance but the last time I went I didn’t have to pay an additional fee to get a prescription. Hey but it’s a nice looking office

Too Expensive! The employees are rude. NO such conduct of customer service! If your doctor refer this place … AVOID or go to a different eye doctor or get your glasses some where else. Its a headache to get your eyes and glasses check up here.
