History

Established in 2013.

Around the Cycle started in early 2013 when Ryan, a bike lover and ironman triathlete realized that he could help people buy, sell, and repair their bikes and make a living doing so. Hundreds of bikes and thousands of parts have made their way from the greater Los Angeles area to over 40 countries and counting.

With a 100% positive feedback rating and Top Rated Power Seller status on ebay, we’re showing that attention to detail, customer service, and just plain good deals are keeping people happy to do business with us. As a benefit of our success, we have the infrastructure, experience, and discounts to make reCycling even more valuable.

We’ve expanded into a storefront in February, located just one mile from the Rose Bowl, to better serve the local cycling and triathlon community.

I just had a static bike fitting at Around the Cycle. Ryan was great. He is very knowledgeable and experienced in how to fit a bike according to a person’s body and preferences. He was also very informative and helpful in educating me about the proper form and technique.

Extremely sweet and helpful guys. Knowing very little about bikes and being a newbie, they went above and beyond with helping me out. Bicycle shops always somewhat intimidated me, but several of my friends recommended this place and I was not disappointed with the referral.
I won’t hesitate to come back with any questions or repairs needed. Just in case you can’t ride your bike here because you need it fixed, there’s a parking lot that always has space and plenty of street parking.

The price they pay for your bike is not that much but it will save you efforts to sell your bike online.
The prices of the used bikes they have are good compared to brand new bikes. They have different varieties of bikes. They helped me with choosing my bike. The workers are professionals and they know what to do. ALSO the music there is good.

Tons of different bikes through consignment and you might find yourself in a lucky position to find a great one that’s barely used and at a reasonable price.
The Mr. came here to get his cassette switched and something or rather done to his wheel. I’m not necessarily in tune with the bike world, but I can certainly speak to their professionalism. While waiting for a few extra things to get done, I noticed that one of the guys was helping a young, non California native with her bike and accessories she’d need to travel around Pasadena and to school. I could tell that she and her parents didn’t know what to look for, but the guys here helped them out

This bike shop is awesome! Basically, I wanted a bike — but an inexpensive one to ride along the river. I went to a bike store near me, and the guys there were kind of dismissive. They didn’t sell «cheap» bikes, they said. So, I was totally put OFF to going to bike shops.
I ordered my cruiser bike off Amazon. I was planning to assemble it myself, since I was not in the mood to have snot thrown my way by avid urban cyclists — but if I had a bike mechanic do it FOR me, the bike would be warrantied for life.
What to do.
I found this place, and long story short — the owner took amazing care of me. He assembled my bike with no dismissive attitude, and I could see they were taking care with EACH customer that came in.
But, most importantly, he even helped me assemble my Amazon bike rack, so I could get the bike home. No charge, just helping me out, since I was grunting and sweating and looking dismayed at the mess of racks, arms and straps (he did it, in, like five seconds). I even locked my keys in my car (it was not the greatest day), and he let me use his phone to call Triple A. Basically, this is THE place. I am telling you — for all bike stuff, bc they are COOL and know their stuff!
I will go to this neighborhood, instead of my own, just to not deal with the total BS of other places and be treated like a human being and, ALSO, have my bike expertly serviced, because they clearly care about ALL cyclists, not just the hard-​core ones.

I’ve been in twice since purchasing an ebike off of an Indiegogo campaign this summer. Both times, John took time to not only do the work necessary, but explain what was happening and why… And how I can keep it from happening again. Ryan and John are fantastic. The selection of used bikes is great — some really amazing bikes in there. This is my new favorite bike shop.

Drove over from Encino with an older bike that was not getting the love it should and wanted to put it on consignment here. I had researched this shop on line and liked what the business is doing for the cycling community. They were true professionals. I was treated with an easy, comfortable respect, as I am sure they would anyone that comes in.
They have a great selection of used bikes for all levels of rider. I even left with a «new» cruiser for my wife.
I am very happy with my experience here. I would recommend Around the Cycle to anyone seeking cycling gear. It was definitely worth my time to drive over from Encino.

Around the Cycle is by far the best bike shop I’ve ever been to. Perhaps even the best shopping experience I’ve had in recent memory. These guys are super knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about what they do — and this is the kind of business that we should all be supporting.
I do not pretend to be an expert on bikes and I’ve found many bike shops have an air of condescension about them that makes it uncomfortable for us non-​experts to get the kind of info and service we need. Not so with Around the Cycle! The whole team was incredibly friendly, helpful, answered my questions thoroughly and made shopping for a bike (admittedly, not my favorite pastime) a really pleasant experience.
But don’t think their kindness makes them any less bad-​ass at what they do. Quite the opposite. Their enthusiasm for what they do is contagious and their expertise and know-​how is impressive.
Overall, I highly, highly, highly recommend them. They have more than fair prices, great selection and variety, and superior customer service.
Side note — they are so deserving of good reviews that I just spent an inhumane amount of time figuring out how to retrieve my Unilocal login info after a loooong hiatus in order to write this review. They are that great.

These guys are super nice and very helpful.
Used bikes are typically cheaper than brand new bikes, which is why I checked them out first. They let me try out every bike in the store. I took each bike out to the parking out and rode around a few times while they analyzed my fit and position. Then they let me take the bike out to the Rose Bowl loop. Unfortunately, I didn’t buy a bike from them because they didn’t have one that really caught my eye.
Once I did find my ideal bike, I brought my old bike here to sell. They took my bike and gave me a fair price for it. These guys are great! Highly recommended.

Went here a few weeks ago at the referral of another local bike shop. I let them know my price range and what I was looking for and they recommended around the cycle.
Once I made it to the store I was extremely impressed. Ryan, the owner, is extremely knowledgable about the bikes and for me this was great as i was looking to get my first road bike. He asked what I was going to use the bike for and I let him know I was starting to train for triathlons and he steered me to a couple of bikes he had in my size. I found one I really liked but it had sold before I had gotten a chance to pull the trigger– so word of advice since this is a used bike shop if you like something put a deposit down because it can go fast! He had another bike that was a little out of my price range but we were able to work out a deal between my trade in and what the consigner was willing to accept.
I’ve had the bike for only a couple weeks so far and still need to take it back to get a couple of more things added on but I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a bike. They have everything from low end to high end and in all styles. If they don’t have what you are looking for they are willing to help you hunt it down.
Make sure you head to around the cycle before you buy your next bike. These guys are great and deserve your money.

These guys are craftsmen. They are addicted to doing the job right and keeping bike ownership from becoming unnecessarily expensive.
My office is just down the street from their shop. At one time my adult son worked for me and, while riding his bike to work, he got a flat. When he got to work he could only say great things about the service that he got.
So. I brought in my late uncle’s 10 speed. Although he bought it in 1965, I knew it was an excellent bike, and I wanted to ride it for sentimental reasons. However, there’s a limit to what I would spend.
Ryan attacked the rebuild with passion, and updated me on the costs. I picked up the bike and I’ve been writing it for months. The rebuild job was perfect.
I’m not sure I would wholeheartedly recommend this shop to people who aren’t serious about their bicycles. While the work would be done in the first class manner, a purely utilitarian spirit might become frustrated at the amount of care in detail that they will have to endure :-).

This is a new bike shop in Pasadena doing really cool stuff. They sell really great used gear and even offer to buy your bike, which is pretty cool.
I know the mechanic there as well-he’s super honest, super helpful guy. Won’t charge you all these extra fees and will tell you straight up what you need and what you don’t need (everyone needs a mechanic like that…).
I had a chance to talk to the owner and he’s just a great guy. Overall, the whole business seems to consist of really honest people.
Would definitely definitely definitely come back for my bike needs. If you’re in Pasadena, you should definitely check this place out.
