Amy Keller, PsyD MFT

Dr. Amy is a remarkable therapist. Her guidance has helped me through some very rough periods in my life these last several years. What I think is truly extraordinary about her approach is her ability to sense when more traditional methods are not working and when it is time to try something different, maybe even a bit unorthodox. She also has no problem calling you out on your own BS (in a nice way, of course). It’s great to know that whenever life throws me a curve ball, Dr. Amy will be there to help out if I’m feeling overwhelmed. Thanks Dr. Amy!

There is really no other way to put it: Dr. Amy changed my life.
Several years ago while going through a pretty horrid break-​up, I decided to embark on the oh so scary world of finding a therapist who could help me get through the tough times. I first tried with another therapist I found on the internet, and couldn’t be more horrified from the experience. I talked for 50-​minutes to this doctor who spoke only to ask the totally cliché questions of «…and how did that make you feel?» and did little in terms of providing any advice or support. I tried two sessions and quit, deciding that therapy must not be for me.
AND THEN, by some stroke of luck combined with finding my [therapeutic] Soul Mate, I met Amy. She is everything you’d never imagine a therapist to be– she’s warm, and compassionate, and hilarious, and SO OPINIONATED, and encouraging, and inspiring. And she’s a genius. She is, with no exaggeration whatsoever, a life changer. She got me through my break-​up, helped me deal with changing friends, leaving my job (and career), encouraged me through my relationship with my now-​husband, gave me tools to deal with my not-​so-​perfect family, and now helps talk me through my fears (and excitement) about having children. How does she do it? I don’t have a clue, especially because our sessions feel more like coffee with a friend than they do therapy.
I could go on and on about Dr. Amy but I’ll stop here, lest everyone out there try to fill up her schedule ;) I joke with her that she is my savior, but it’s really not a joke at all; Dr. Amy has made me a better, healthier and happier person, and I’ll be grateful to her forever for changing my life.

I’ve seen Dr. Amy sporadically, mostly individually but also with my husband. She offers an inspiring blend of positive energy and pragmatism. I leave my sessions with more hope that I can change things that are bothering me in my life, and also some practical tools for doing so.
She is also experienced, intuitive, and wicked smart. It might be a false fear, or snobbery, but I dread situations where I feel obligated to take advice from someone who seems well-​meaning but not that insightful. To put it bluntly, I want my therapist to be smarter than me (but not condescending about it)! Dr. Amy offers that. She asks questions that help me clarify what I’m thinking and feeling for myself, but is also willing to offer her own insights and opinions.
If you love your trainer, you’ll more likely go to the gym: Even if I’m dealing with tough issues – not my favorite thing – I look forward to hanging out with Dr. Amy!

Dr. Amy Keller is an exceptional clinical supervisor!!! Dr. Keller meets her supervisees where they are and pushes each of them to expand their practice, grow as a clinician, and always enhance their knowledge base. She encourages her interns to find their own clinical voice while simultaneously teaching her interns a successful private practice model. Dr. Keller invests personally in each of her interns and always makes herself available for support, consultation, and mentoring. She also consistently refers clients to her supervisees – an opportunity that is very hard to find!!! Working closely with Dr. Keller has afforded me many professional opportunities. Dr. Keller demands excellence from her interns, but she provides every opportunity and support for you to thrive!!!

I’ve been going to Dr. Amy now for over a year now and, I have to say, she is pretty amazing. I had never really been to see a therapist regularly, but after I noticed some recurring relationship problems, I enlisted her help. I’m definitely not one of those people who is really in touch with their feelings and is used to just talking about what’s going on in my head. But Dr. Amy was able to pull information out of me that I didn’t know was in there and, more often than not, put into words what I couldn’t say, but definitely felt. I’m an engineer, so it’s really fantastic having someone so empathic because I’m so much the opposite. Going to see Dr. Amy has been one of the best decisions of my recent life so far. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ — would recommend for basically anyone who feels like they want/​need help.

There aren’t enough good things to say about Dr. Amy. As a total skeptic when it came to therapy or counseling, I was pretty hesitant to reach out for help during a tough time in my life. I’m so glad I finally did. Throughout this time, Dr. Amy has proven to be a good dose of humor, honesty, and an eagle eye in helping me identify and work through challenges. I love her forward-​thinking approach and her positivity. When I talk to her, I don’t feel like I’m talking to a psychoanalyst, but more like I’m talking to good friend. She’s even down with my occasional swear words, and I don’t feel like I have to censor myself around her at all!
In addition to a couple individual sessions I’ve had with her, my husband and I have seen Dr. Amy as our marriage therapist. I highly recommend her couples therapy, as she is lighthearted, but focused, and always fair. We are really pleased with the progress we’ve made under her support and guidance. I can honestly say she’s been a much needed resource, and we’re so glad we found Dr. Amy!

I’ve known Amy (aka the fabulous Doctor Keller) for about 4 years now. She is an incredible professional and an amazing person. What I love most about her methods, is she is able to work from classic psychoanalysis while weaving in intuitive advice that goes above and beyond what any book could do. With her support, I have made it through many challenges including the loss of a job, significant other and pet drama (ack!).
Having Dr. Keller on my side, helps me to feel grounded and maintain sight of the most important things in life.
Due to her education and skills, she is in high demand, but I recommend being patient and trying to get on the calendar. She is the real deal!

I’m a patient of Dr. Amy’s, and I can’t recommend her enough. She is caring and empathetic — she really invests herself in her patients. She will make you work hard to face things about yourself that you might not like, but those revelations will change your life. It was difficult to truly face my issues, but somehow she made me laugh through the toughest of times. Dr. Amy provided me with tons of resources to absorb and even homework between our sessions! Working through my issues and seeing how I could break my unhealthy patterns was incredibly empowering and I began to feel better and better. She managed to make my emotional growth fun and eventually change seemed to happen effortlessly (even when I didn’t do my homework all the time.) I can honestly say I am a happier, healthier person now as a direct result of my sessions with Dr. Amy. I heard she has interns now, so if you can’t afford her I would recommend seeing one of them — hopefully Dr. Amy’s teaching them her own special brand of therapy that’s so effective!

Dr. Amy is an amazing empathic soul. She is just the right balance of butt kicker and cheerleader with a comfortable, homie office and demeanor that will allow you to share easily. If you want results, accountability and most of all support in accessing your true self underneath all the drama, she is your woman.

I don’t think I can recommend Amy enough. She is truly great.
She has a warm smile that makes you feel comfortable from the very beginning. She is methodical in her approach and also capable of tuning her interaction to fit a person’s needs. She speaks from the heart.
If you are looking for an exceptional therapist that will help you navigate through your tough times in a caring and concerned fashion, you’ll really like Amy.

Dr. Keller is truly one of those uncommon individuals, whom I characterize as outstanding. There are legion psychotherapists in Los Angeles, many of whom are fine psychotherapists. Dr. Keller’s many years of study, and quick analytical thinking, are evident from her assessments and treatment formulations. Additionally, she has a way of conveying understanding and empathy in a way that is rarely seen these days. Her commitment and ethical standards are beyond reproach. I recommend her without reservation.

I’ve been seeing Dr. AMy for about 1.5 years she’s the best. She’s everything you could want in a therapist. I drove an hour each way to see her every week and its beyond worth it.
