Called Air-​Tech in Pasadena a few years ago for information and a quote on a Mitsubishi ductless air cooling and heating system. We were very impressed but weren’t ready to invest in it at that time. Fast forward to Spring 2015. We called Air-​Tech to come out again to discuss the system. In a short time, we purchased the system and it was installed. Every employee of Air-​Tech that we have been in contact with has been professional, courteous, respectful, knowledgeable and very skilled. We couldn’t be happier with our new «cool air»! When we had one small issue with the unit, they sent out a technician right away to take care of it, no charge. We would definitely recommend Air-​Tech!

Air-​teach replaced my old unit last year in my condo and I’ve been happy with it ever since. The new unit uses energy more efficiently and this year, Mark came out for maintenance and he was extremely personable and helpful. I would highly recommend this company.

Summer is the worst time to have AC problems and we didn’t know who to call. Our plumber, whom we like very much recommended Air-​Tech and we were as pleased with them as we are with him. They were prompt, professional and trustworthy. We can recommend them completely.

I am extremely satisfied with professionalism of Air Tech. I have two 4 ton systems that were installed when the house was built over 20 years ago. After receiving $ 600 to $ 800 electric bills in the summer, I decided it was time to upgrade the systems. Air Tech install 2 Lenox 4 ton systems and we have never been happier. The sales man Rod explained how inefficient the original installation was and that we needed to relocate the second unit closer to the other side of the house. This would cut down on the duct runs and improve the efficiency in the Master Bedroom. (This was very important to ME) After they completed the installation, I now fully understand what he was talking about. Why didn’t the home builder install it correctly in the first place???
All of Air Tech’s installers were nice and very courteous. They laid out drop cloths each morning and cleaned up everything each night. They were in and out in one week, right on schedule with what Rod promised. The house now maintains temperature which it never did before. I have now received my first electric bill and even though it is winter time, it was the lowest bill for the entire 2014 year. I am very excited to see how these units perform this summer. I would highly recommend Air Tech.

Air Tech exceeded our expectations in a huge way. We recently restored a 100+ year old house in Los Angeles. For some background, when I say «restored» I mean just that and not «renovated,» as we attempted to keep the property historically accurate, We did not use any sheet rock, we used horse hair plaster. We designed the kitchen so all modern appliances were hidden. We even hid all of the other electronic equipment (DVD players, cable boxes etc.) So when it came time to add a heat and AC system to a home which never actually had one (no existing ducts) we were very concerned about, obviously the functionality of the system but also equally important to us was the aesthetics. Which brings me to why I am writing my first Unilocal review. Rod from Air Tech came over and immediately saw our vision for the old house and together we designed a system that met our needs. Air Tech employee Francisco, whom I cannot say enough good things about, handled the installation itself. He made sure everything was done perfectly. He checked with us each time before cutting each needed hole into the house and was very concerned with making sure the system was as efficient as possible. With the help of another excellent employee named Walter and a few very nice helpers, they really nailed it! They also worked extremely clean, and being a typical neat freak Virgo, I really appreciated it. The job took about a week to complete but every night when they left, the house was still totally livable and not a dust mine. Finally Rod found us some beautiful — era appropriate — cast Iron register grills that in the end we believe actually enhanced the look of the house by tying all the room s together with a uniform look. That all said, and in the end most importantly, during the last heat wave we were wearing flannel indoors and sleeping at night with a down comforter! Take that Global Warming!
If you are restoring an old home, Air Tech without a doubt is the company to use!

I’ve used Air-​Tech two years in a row to maintain my HVAC units. They’ve shown up on time, completed the service as promised, and demonstrated a professional and courteous attitude throughout. My technician Oscar also has gone the extra mile to address questions and concerns I had about my ducts and my air filters. As far as I’m concerned, this company delivers on its commitments.

Well, I guess business is great for Air Tech.
Made an appointment but I wasn’t important enough for them to show up. I guess they might be good… or might not. If they showed up for your job, good for you. If they don’t, you’ve been forewarned.

Just went online to get Air-Tech’s Phone number for a person I was referring and I realized I haven’t written an update since 2010… It’s like a happy marriage, We have been happy and satisfied so thought there was no reason to update. But When I saw the negative Reviews I wanted to weigh in and update. Also, please let it be known there is the excellent Air-​Tech, owned by Larry Rodriguez, Pasadena, and a different non– affiliated AirTech company here in LA county. To repeat, the two companies are not connected.
Unfortunately, most of us only think of the AC on the first horrible day of summer and then we’re screaming when there are three of those horrible days together, and the AC isn’t working. To avoid this, It is best if you are a regular customer doing the annual maintenance visits, and get your AC checked in April.
All good things come to an end. Our «wonderful» 5 ton AC unit failed last year after 25 years of loyal service. If there were a shrine at our house it would be dedicated to the person who invented air conditioning. We called Larry and first they sent a service person – it was bad news, the unit was on death’s door and because it was 25 years old. the technology had changed and blah, blah, blah. Environmental issues, freon or something being discontinued. In medicine we say you are given R B A (risks, benefits and alternatives). Well we chose to go with a new unit. Another 5 ton Bryant. All our ducting is fine, that was designed by Larry 25 years ago. Supposedly the new unit will use less energy than our old one. So that’s a good thing for us and the environment.

I’m extremely dissatisfied with this company. I usually do not write low reviews for companies with such low amount of reviews, but I really feel this time it is justified.
When I called as a first time customer, they informed me that they would charge me $ 119 for assessing the problem with my a/​c unit. I have used a/​c repairmen plenty of times in the past with no fee for assessing the problem, but felt like since it was an emergency, I decided to bite the bullet and pay that amount for them to come out. Usually with this amount, if there’s any work to be done, they credit that amount into the service. This was not the case with this company.
A pleasant Airtech employee came out to assess the problem. He said there might be a slight leak in the a/​c unit, and that there was no freon. At this time, it was 4 pm… he said he wouldn’t be able to fix it at that time, and would have to come back another day, to put the freon in. This was already a bad sign, as I have had freon leaks plenty of times in the past, with the a/​c companies performing the job at the same time, and not charging me to assess the problem.
The next day, I called the company and told them I needed to get a guy to come out to fix the problem. (I felt it was strange that they didn’t try to accommodate to me knowing that they didn’t fix the problem… a followup call would have been nice). This time, a different guy came out mid-​day, to assess the problem AGAIN (I was like, what was the point the first time?) and told me he thinks it’s a small leak, and if I wanted to check it I’d have to do a leak test for around $ 350. The other option was to put a super sealant and put the freon in, and he informed me that would 80% do the trick with no problems. He also said it would probably work for 2 years or so, and he sounded very confident. The total charge to me was $ 600 including the 119 from the previous day.
2 days later, we’re still hot, the A/​C is not working. They come out for the 3^rd time, and then says it is actually a big leak now that I can visibly see. He said I have to replace the whole unit which will be $ 6800 and we’ll credit you $ 500 if you go with us. I was upset at that point. I didn’t understand how he didn’t see that big leak before… and how all of a sudden he saw something vs. before when he couldn’t visibly detect any leak.
I got other quotes from 2 different places who are charging me more than $ 1000 less than these guys. Right now, I am trying to get into contact with the managers about getting a refund for money spent, and me still sitting here sweating with no A/​C $ 600 and 3 visits later. They are obviously not returning my calls for a reason, and I have been nothing but nice over the phone, and as super patient as I can be.
Please do your due diligence as far as pricing goes, and if you want to save time and money, I would advise not using this company.

This complaint regards an unethical decision by a manager (Larry) of Air-​Tech of Pasadena, CA. I had a problem with our AC unit and called for service. An Air-​Tech technician came out and told me the evaporator coil was leaking and needed to be replaced. I agreed to fix it, paid $ 119.00 for the service call and put down a $ 200 deposit for the coil. I requested that the technician be the same one to come back and install the coil and was told no problem. In addition, I called Air-​Tech directly and requested this technician to perform the work and they agreed. However, on the day of the scheduled repair it was a different technician who arrived. That technician tried to assure me that the original technician had told him how to do the installation. I asked to talk with an Air Tech manager about it. I explained to the manager, Larry, that the original technician was requested and I was told that it was he who was going to do the work. Larry said that technician was not available and would not be able to come out for weeks. I informed him that I was willing to wait and asked to schedule the appointment. Larry said he would call back in a few hours with an available date. Over a week passed and Larry never called. Realizing at that point that I would likely not receive a return call, I called Air-​Tech to ask if they planned to do the repair or return my deposit. A week later an Air-​Tech technician «fixed» our AC unit by replacing the evaporator coil on the unit for $ 1,814.00 ($ 1,695.00 for the parts and $ 119.00 for the labor).
The first time the unit was turned on after the technician left it did not put out cool air. Air Tech was contacted and asked to come back out. A scheduled service call was set between 3 and 5 in the afternoon the following day. That day at 5:15pm I placed a call to Air– Tech to inquire about my appointment. I was told that I would be called back. Thirty minutes later I received a call from the technician stating he was finishing another call and that he would soon be on his way. He apologized for not calling and not making the agreed upon time. The technician arrived around 6pm and quickly discovered a fuse was the problem. He replaced the fuse and told me the service charge was $ 119.00. I explained to him that we had just spent close to $ 2000.00 to fix the unit, which obviously was not done completely the first time, and I wanted to speak with a manager about the charge. He called his manager Larry who told him to collect the $ 119.00 because this was a «new» problem and hung up the phone without speaking with me. I asked to speak directly with Larry since the technician did his job and was not involved in the earlier work. Larry was contacted again and stated to me that he has to pay his technician and that this was a different issue then the other AC work that was previously completed. I told him that my understanding was that the AC would be fixed for the original charge of $ 1,814 and that was not done. It simply did not work the first time it was turned on. Larry asked me if I wanted to pay the $ 119.00 or not and I said no, that I did not think that was fair given the number of problems we had encountered with Air Tech. Larry then told the technician to disable the unit by removing the fuses and putting the damaged fuses back in. I offered to pay for the fuses, but the technician said the manager would not accept $ 100.00 for either fuse now since I complained. The technician told me Larry would fire him if he did not disable the unit. After asking the technician not to cut any wires or anything else to intentionally damage the AC units, I allowed the technician back on to my property to do what his manager had ordered him to do.

Ok, this experience was much better than the first. We had our AC serviced to make sure we don’t have any issues this summer like we did last year. The tech arrived within the time window, was very nice, and had the work done quickly. Still doesn’t make up completely for last year’s experience where they arrived several hours after the time window (twice), but it definitely gets them a better review this time around.

I was very pleased with Air-​Tech Heating and Air Conditioning of Pasadena. They installed a four unit Mitsubishi Split Air and Heating system in my 1946 year old home. My house has a very shallow attic and can not accommodate ducting used on most HVAC units. The Mitsubishi or Fujitsu split systems were my only options for a modern heating and air system. The house only had the original 1946 wall unit heater and window air conditioners. Air-​Tech of Pasadena was very knowledgable and experienced with these split air systems. I searched three Mitsubishi Diamond dealers. Only Air-​Tech and another San Gabriel business gave me a written quote. The third business from Los Angeles gave me a verbal quote that was 25% more than Air-​Tech and would not put their work quote in writing.
Ait-​Tech was the only one of the authorized Mitsubishi dealers that was willing to place the Split Air system units over a closet door in a room. The other two businesses wanted to place the room units on exterior facing walls.
In the two bedrooms the only exterior facing walls would have placed the units directly over the beds. This was not a good solution for me. Air-​Tech knew had to run the HVAC lines (about 3 inches in diameter) in the crawl space under the house, and up through a interior corner of a closet wall, thus placing the room unit in a much better location to distribute the air and heat over closet doors. The other two businesses like exterior wall placement as it reduces their costs and labor, but at your indoor comfort. I was so pleased that Air-​Tech knew how to place these split air units for the best distribution of heat and air and aesthetics. Thanks to Air-​Tech I have three small lines going under the house and one small line going through the attic to the four room units. If I had used one of Air-Tech’s competitor’s I would have had four rain gutters covering the lines on the exterior of my house, not so pretty. Instead I have three inch flexible hoses containing all the wires and refrigerant going under the house, up an inside closet wall and to the wall unit over the closet. They are hidden.
These split air system are energy efficient and very, very quiet. They are excellent! The Air-​Tech workers have been with the company for many years and like their work and business owners. They are professional, work hard and clean up every night. A supervisor/​owner visits the work site every day. Their were no surprises or problems, just a very good experience with this Air-​Tech of Pasadena and their representatives and workers. It is also important to know that both Mitsubishi and Fujitsu require an authorized dealer to warranty this product. It is a unique system that requires training and education on it’s instillation. From my experience, I strongly recommend AirTech.

On a recommendation from our Contractor, we started using Air Tech (circa 1997). We’ve used them ever since. Fast, reliable, and reasonable. It’s 2013, and yes we still use them.

This company did a great job installing central air and heat. The lead installer was very professional and thorough. The price was very fair. I would highly recommend Air Tech

I have used Air Tech before and I will continue using and recommending them in the future. My fan quit working on my AC. Air Tech showed up before the time they said and fixed my AC before the heat of the day.

I’ve used them twice now:
FIRST TIME: Just a general annual maintenance with a coupon. Rep was super professional, wanted to be sure he was clear and showed me pictures of my attic and how rodents had gotten to my ductwork because it was installed improperly
SECOND TIME: Had complete reducting and new vent plates. Much improved! and much quieter as the original work has skimped on materials.
When another vendor came to blow in insulation; they commented on how superior the job was in the attic, and done very well. Tied up to the roof or wall properly so you could move around.
Each time they were timely or would call if they were going to be delayed. Rep who came out was was great, professional, courteous and open to any of my questions.
Excellent service and quality … highly recommended.

Thank you Air Tech! I lost my heating unit (it actually started to melt the duct work and singe the attic) on a chilly day and called them to get a quote on the work and/​or replacement of the unit. Oscar arrived as scheduled and listened to all the info that I had about the unit and it’s use. He was very clear in describing what he had found and when I asked him for a quote to replace the unit, Air tech did so within a few hours, giving me some options.
They were hard working, clean in the installation, respectful of my floors and property, and all the way very communicative about the process so there would be no surprises. We wound up getting an entire new HVAC system due to their competitive pricing and availability in getting the job done fast (the cold weather had just returned). The new unit is amazingly quiet and I couldn’t be happier with their handling of the entire install and transaction. I would recommend them to anyone, they were great!

Do not waste a moment in the heat waiting for the non existent service of this company! They scheduled a visit with me at 8:00 am… assured me they be at my home between 12 and 2 p. m…called later and told me it would be between 3 and 4 p. m…I was flexible and agreed… then at 2 p.m. they call to find out what another company had found the problem to be. I asked why they needed to know that and they said they only wanted to come over if i was a big job — they were getting busy and didn’t want to keep our appointment if they were only going to get a small amount of business out of it! REALLY? If there’s a possibility you are only going to get paid $ 75 for a service call to determine the problem — it isn’t worth your time??? Obviously I told them to forget it — I am more than happy to give my business to their competition — the lady scheduling the service said «OK Great»! Hopefully the lack of desire to obtain business will get this company exactly what it deserves… ZERO Customers!

Air Tech was recommended by a friend who is an architect. We found that Air Tech gave us a fair price for our new duct work and air conditioning. Rod had given us several options at different prices, and wasn’t pushy. His crew was prompt, conscientious about keeping our house and floors clean, considerate of our comfort though fthe 4 days of their work, and the quality of the work was first rate.
