Active Rehabilitation- Congress Medical Associates

this is THE place to go if you’re a Masochist. Parking is a BIOTCH, therapists don’t follow doctors’ orders, unprofessional environment, and no privacy (hint: don’t wear your granny panties here!!). One star for a competent billing department. Angel is who you want handling your claims.
I have been patronizing this place for 2 yrs. the better therapists are Andre and another male, but stay away from Josh (more below on him). A few good aides have left (Naveen, Jeff) but Renzo is still one of the original three. He’s awesome!
Here is what to expect:
First, navigate the dreaded parking lot (two ticket machines greet you at entry and should you chose the wrong one, get ready to be chewed out by the parking attendant on your way out!) Now you proceed left and upwards but are stuck because there is ONE lane so you have people zigzagging around those that are entering/​exiting and SLOW POKE pedestrians (just stating the facts as I’m a slow poke myself) walk in between… Ok so you FINALLY get a spot and climb (crawl??) your way down the stairs (because the elevator never shows up) with whatever injury you suffer from.
Second, hobble/​hop the 5 minute walk to the building and AGAIN SLOW POKE ELEVATORS greet you. Not a problem. Active Rehab must be reasonable right? Surely they’d understand that not all injured patients can teleport like Nightcrawler? NOPE. (My shape shifting powers are of no use here).
Third, sign in and make it past the double frosted doors. Now get ready to hear who messed up their schedule for the day and who was 5 minutes late and if it was you… do I pity thy soul of evil tardiness. Snickering, gossip, yeah highschool behavior from the oh so professional gals if you’re still too early for them to turn you away. With a hoot and a holler in front of other patients this was my lovely welcoming: «What was it this time — the traffic light??» Good news though! These wannabe doctors get to shave off 5 minutes from your TEN whole minutes of session so they can go chit chat and you’re free to complete a series of exercises which you can do at home for FREE without anyone hovering about while you enjoy your favorite podcast and inhale essential oils of lavender and grapefruit. But instead you’re stuck in a sweat filled germy place worried half the time that someone doesn’t step on you.
If you have short hair, more power to ya girl. But hey I don’t want to be freakin hassled by insecure chicks to chop off my long ethnic hair. I’m not there to give a history lesson on how my ancestors would literally roll in their graves if I chopped it off. I JUST WANNA GET MY PT DONE. Sheeeesh.
I agree with Robert B. about Josh Arellano. He actually told me about a year ago that there wasn’t anything more he can do for me. I’m like WTF? I had an active script for PT from my doc. My TOP OF THE LINE insurance is active. I have no past due balance. The next time I returned, deciding to ignore him and his FABULOUS personality and follow my doctor’s orders, he says, «Good news! You’ll be starting pilates with Jennifer!». Wow in one week I graduated from permanently damaged to healthy enough to kick A$$.
PS as far as the «Pilates», do yourself a favor and rent a video. The instructor uses YOUR time to do HER workout and you get smushed into the area right in FRONT OF THE FREAKIN BATHROOMS… enjoy the aroma!

Way to mess up my physical therapy. I had scheduled a time on the weekend they could «fit me in». Arrive 15 minutes after their window and they can’t see me; 45 mins of driving in traffic and they can’t see me. Now I have to wait two weeks for a consultation.

Looked up your LinkedIn profile and it says you rehab dogs as well. Maybe spend less time with the dog rehab and more with the human rehab and you wouldn’t have to turn me away after 15 mins. WTF. Times must be hard.

I’ve been going to Active Rehab off and on for about the last 3 years. I play a lot of tennis, and my injuries are mostly tennis related. I work with a PT therapist named Jason, who is great. He’s very knowledgeable, addresses the issues, and has helped me get back to playing tennis. The PT assistants at Active Rehab (Tim, Robbie, and Jeff) are far better and more attentive than PT assistants at other facilities I’ve been to; they are also very knowledgeable and always available to help you with your exercises.
I know that «rajiv p.» and «Siobhan J.» gave rather low marks to Active Rehab, but personally I think the place is great, and that the therapists and PT assistants do a great job of assessing your problem and setting up an exercise program. Personally, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I’ve been to multiple physical therapy places and this place was just okay. Andre was great at diagnosing what needed to be done for my PT regimen, but his assistant was not knowledgeable. He also didn’t pay attention to my form and I would constantly have to ask him if I was doing things correctly. I was paying out of 100% pocket so every visit was important for me.
If I was going here again, I would ask Andre for an evaluation and then what exercises I am supposed to do for an entire month including the progression through each one. No need to go for more than 1 or 2 visits cuz you’re doing everything on your own with the lazy assistants.

I was thoroughly impressed at first and then became disillusioned with the facility. I ripped a tendon in my foot and wanted to avoid surgery. Andre assessed my injury and prescribed an appropriate course of therapy. He was very clear in his explanation. I also worked with Thez, another physical therapist, who is absolutely wonderful. I made a great deal of progress with Thez, I don’t have a high pain threshold so breaking down the scar tissue was a challenge, but I understand the need for it. I stopped going to the facility because of Andre. I will not go back.
I worked with a couple of PT technicians. The first one was Hiromi. She was very personable and professional. She was efficient and nice. She has excellent people skills. The PT tech that I worked the most with was Vince. I don’t think he likes his job. He would rather text or remain silent than chat with his clients. I did notice that he would chat with the male clients, but not the female clients, certainly not the middle-​aged female clients. I’m a friendly person and it was stressful being around someone who was so unwilling to interact.
The facility itself is very nice, clean and spacious. It does get crowded, though. The office staff is very friendly and efficient. You are given a robo-​call to remind you of appointments. The billing process is clear and uncomplicated.
You do have to pay to park at the facility. They give you a discount, but it adds up. Unless you can walk several blocks, you will have to pay for parking. As I was on crutches, walking wasn’t an option.
