Any agency that helps cats is cool with me. The f’ing tsuenami of cats that cover the USA is horrible because so many mudd buts give little girls nursing kittens found or given by other people who would rather blow $ 3.00 at Taco Bell than buy a can of real cat food. So the explosion rolls on, those little girls at the shopping center with a box of wet kittens… $ 5? Jeez! The problem is the vacuumed auto billing. We adopted a cat online who was ferel but needed sponsors. Cool, here is $ 15 a month for a year, monthly. Cats name was sunshine and it was a real POS who fought and bit. We signed on but were pissed to find THREE months were taken out on the very first billing! WTF? Big difference between $ 15 going out overnight and. $ 45! Could never get it resolved and changed out account to avoid hits like this! Greed?

This place confuses me. I called years ago for a cat that was having trouble giving birth, it was not my cat but I couldn’t let it suffer. I knew about this place, and thought I’d give it a shot and see if they would help. The lady who answered was extremely rude! I felt like she was blaming me for the cat suffering. I was very shocked, but made an appt to take the cat in anyway. I took the cat in, they helped it and that was that. A year or so later I decided I wanted to adopt a kitten. I looked on their website, and found the perfect one. I went through the application, got approved and was able to get the kitten no problem. Just a few days ago my husband’s aunt found a litter of kittens under her house with no mom cat. I told her about cat house and she called them to see if they would take them. The same lady must have answered because she was extremely rude to her. She yelled at her telling her that she has too many cats and she can’t be taking her cats. My husband’s aunt explained she was just looking for a place that would not kill the kittens. The lady told her it was her problem, and she wasn’t going to deal with it. I don’t understand their customer service. Good customer service can go a long way, and they definitely need to work on that.

Great place. All the cats are friendly and taken care of. You can tell the cats really enjoy living here. It doesn’t smell either I was thinking a cat place it’s going to stink. Nope it was ok. :)

Just got the worst service from a lady from Cat House on The Kings at the Petco Adoption Center on Ashlan and Blackstone. She kicked us out and snapped her fingers in my face all because I asked to see her policy on looking at some cats inside their Petco Adoption Center. I can’t believe I’ve donated for these people! And to see first hand how they treat their customers is insane! I thought they cared about getting their animals into safe homes?

Action speaks louder than words. Having met, interacted and played with the cats on the property it seems they are loved, cared and sheltered with all dedication in this world. To me it felt like the zen-​est place on earth. Thanks to the founder and director of Cat House.
C’mon people if you think you can dump strays, or a litter of kittens you have found in your backyard that you don’t want– give this woman a break who single handedly, after having given up all her savings is running this sanctuary on her own. To have 800 odd cats safe, healthy, happy and human-​friendly is not a sign of being a hoarder, but a sign of true human compassion.
I hope there are more places like this, and this place gets its deserved award and support from the world.

The negative reviews here do not understand what the Cathouse on the Kings is all about. This place is run by angels, the woman are incredible and they devote their lives to the cats. The cats that live here are all healthy and the place is spotless. Here is the thing, they cannot just take in every cat. Lynea is a no nonsense woman and when you first speak with her she will try to get you to find a solution for your cat first before bringing the cat to the Cathouse.
I am so grateful that my cat is being taken care of to the end of his life. I pay $ 68 a month for this service that without Lynea and her crew, I would have had no where to go. She has cats from all over the world. So please try to understand that she has 1000 cats there, they run a world class hospital, they do their very best to take care of every cat but it costs a lot of money to run the place. I take exception with the negative reviewers because believe me they do not get what is going on or the dedication these women have to what I believe is one of the most remarkable places on earth.

I think this place started with good intentions. Upon contacting this place for help, you get chewed out by the owner. She clearly does not want to help. our neighbors were evicted and left their 3 cats on the porch. they come over to my yard to sneak food and fight with my two fixed cats. The city wont help, Fresno doesn’t take cats anymore, and we are definitely afraid to call this lady and get chewed out for trying to help these cats next door. She isn’t pleasant to deal with as we have had kittens thrown over our fence and called her in the past to help, but got none just a big fat chewing out. no thanks. and I watched that show. it portrays the place in a light that isn’t really shining anymore. perhaps she got overwhelmed. too many Aholes dropping off cats would piss me off too!

My wife and our 5 kids got two new kittens in January 18 this year. Very difficult process as other reviewers noted but we stuck it out and passed. About three weeks after adoption and Lexi’s snuck out of our backyard while playing with our boys and we could not find her anywhere. We searched for days and even called the cat house to let them know so that they were aware of the situation since we knew both cats had an RFID Chip. Today we were looking on their website and realized they have our cat Lexi on their site for sale under the name butterscotch. We immediately called the cat house and told our story to someone there and now they are refusing to speak to us and since the phone call they have deleted butterscotch off their page. We have five brokenhearted children and we have no idea what to do with these people but definitely do not feel that they are reputable in anyway. If they felt we were not suitable than they should not have given them to us in the first place and once they determined we were suitable they should’ve worked with us because it was not intentional. From the statements of the other reviewer’s and our own personal situation at this point we feel the cat house has no business conducting any type of adoptions whatsoever and we believe they are highly government funded and we would like to let the government officials in charge of this know of their activities. I just adopted the most beautiful loving kitty ever, the cathouseonthekings take really good care of Thier kitties, over the last year I have been watching them and going to events they have, and I can truly say when the time came for me to adopt I went to them, they were so kind to me, and caring, I really don’t understand anyone rating them any less than all stars, thank u cathouseonthekings for all you do,

I read some of the reviews and was a little worried but after going there today and adopting my sweet kitten I have nothing but great things to say about the cat house on the Kings!
I applied to adopt a kitten only a week ago and by Monday afternoon I found out I was approved (do not be discouraged by the applicants who got denied). My boyfriend and I live 3 hours away so we had to wait until the weekend to go meet our sweet kitten.
Immediately upon walking onto the grounds of the cat house I was so impressed. Walking up to where we would meet our kitten we were greeted by 10 – 15 of the happiest cats wandering around and just as friendly as can be. We walked into the kitten adoption area and both of the girls working there were very friendly and they showed us to the kitten room. There were 15 kittens and then we saw our adorable little one. I immediately fell in love and we spent a little time and knew she was the one for us.
The paperwork from there was quick and painless and then we paid our very small adoption fee and we were finished! This was the best experience I could have imagined and I highly recommend anyone looking to adopt to check into the cat house on the Kings!

I sent in an application for a cat. Took forever to reply. I had already gotten another cat from somewhere by the time they even bother to say anything. Plus they were quite rude. Don’t even bother sending an application just go somewhere else.

Very odd as I am certain I had written a review about this place. First off this woman is a cat hoarder, simple as that. She is not stable either.
All you have to do is call up there and inquire about needing help with a cat. I had a couple strays that had been dumped at my house and I was not able to keep them. Since the news is always saying that she never refuses cats, I called in hopes that she would help. Big mistake that was. She was a total rip on the phone. She accused me of just wanting to dump cats on her. She wanted $ 5000 per cat! Go to her website if you don’t believe that and you will see in writing that she charges that to take a cat, regardless if its a stray you are trying to help. She suggested that I just kill the cats, as it would be a better option. What the hell kind of no kill rescue suggests that too people?
This woman is nuts! I wouldn’t give her any animal to care for or donate any supplies to her either.

I think the Cat House probably has good intentions, but their practices are dangerous. I truly hope that they make some serious changes. And I urge people to not use their kennel services per our experience below.
They offer long-​term boarding in group and private kennels here. My husband and I intended to board our two cats for a few months while we travelled. When we arrived, the grounds and kennel looked nice enough, and one of the staff members walked us through the contract and details. We dropped our cats off in a large outdoor kennel that had a little house in the middle. They took down all the health info about our cats and took their photos as well.
I estimate there were maybe 20 to 25 cats in the group kennel. It appeared large enough and clean to accommodate all of the animals. We were assured that they were checked daily, and that volunteers or staff would interact with the animals.
The day before we were to leave for our big trip (2 years in planning, scrimping, and saving), my husband had a bad feeling and wanted to check on our furry buddies. He drove all the way from Orange County to Fresno.
When he arrived, it took him a few minutes to register that the mangy tabby crawling towards him was our cat. He had lost a significant amount of weight (over 40%), was drooling and vomiting, and collapsed as he tried to reach my husband.
The Cat House NEVER called us. They had no idea. They even tried to claim that the cat was healthy. His bones jutted out and he could barely lift his head. Everyone who saw the cat when we brought him home gasped. He had been a big, overfed boy when we dropped him off, and after four weeks he looked like a skeleton.
We drove him to our vet in Orange County. The vet diagnosed him with Fatty Liver disease. This can happen when a cat doesn’t eat for a few days. He had to stay in the hospital for three days for a series of tests. When we took him home, we had to force feed him from a syringe six times a day, give him daily IV bags, and about four different medications. This went on for an entire month until he finally started to put on weight and was able to eat on his own again. Our vet bill was well over a thousand dollars.
We had to go to court to get our vet bills reimbursed (they refused to work with us after numerous attempts to mediate), but ended up having to cancel our trip and lost several thousands of dollars in flights that we were not able to reclaim in court.
We still haven’t been able to take our dream trip, but our kitty is now alive and well. It was clear that he had been dumped in that kennel and then ignored for four weeks. If even a cursory health check had been performed once a week, someone would have noticed his illness and the trauma would have been avoided.
Again, I think that the Cat House COULD do some wonderful work, and probably does, but there are some serious ego problems and lack of organizational structure that makes it just as harmful as helpful.

Great idea to have a place for cats to live out there lives. Unfortunately, they are overly picky on adoptions. They act like they want to give cats homes, but deny homes based on a few questions. If they are really concerned about their animals they should do oral interviews and home visits. Makes me wonder if there is some fraud going on here. If your wiling to drive out to Timbuktu then I’d say your probably serious. If you have to sell someone no. Give them reasons why your not able to care for cats.

If I could give them zero stars I honestly would. I’ve been looking into adopting a cat from here. I called to see if I could get an appointment and rudely a man answer the phone instantly saying I need to call the cat section and said the number so fast in no way could I understand what he was saying. I then asked him to repeat himself and in an ever ruder tone he repeated and hung up. I then called the number he gave me and asked if I could make an appointment to view their cats for adoption. The woman was then extremely rude and asked me if I had filled out an adoption form, I then replied with «no, how to I do that?» And in a very aggressive voice she briefly explained! I felt like they could careless to have a cats adopted! I knew the second I got on the phone with this woman that this is not a place I want to adopt a cat from! If you want good customer service this is not the place!

Our family filled out an application to adopt a cat from this place and we were denied!!! Never actually spoke to anyone. Never got a reason as to why we were declined. We are a typical family of four, own a large home, have a high income, have never lost a pet or had one die of unnatural causes. I’m pretty sure this place isn’t really looking for homes for these cats!!!

For those with a bent for cats, this is Shangri-​la, nirvana and Mecca rolled into one.
Set on a 12 acre plot, about 15 miles south east of Fresno, this is home to around 700 happy cats (and 3 grumpy ones).
There’s a whole history to this place involving divorce, settlements, neighbourhood arguments and, of course, cats.
There’s ample parking on arrival with entrance on the right side through a springed gate.
All visitors report to the kitten house to check in. This is where it got a little weird. Obviously if we come here it is because we have an affinity for cats, yet we were initially made to feel less than welcome.
When asking to view the kittens one lady rejected us while the other welcomed us to view them. For cat/​kitten lovers this is a paradise with the most amazing, loving kittens. There is a vaccination room where the youngest are kept and they were off limits.
Incredibly clean and well maintained, to come out of here without a kitten, you have to have a heart of stone, a cat already or rejected by the CATF*
It is open 1 – 4, by appointment and we came @ 3, unfortunately missing the tour, which takes place at 1.
But we were welcome to roam wherever we wanted to after that.
And we got our groupies. We were constantly followed by a cluster of cats of all shapes and sizes. And as we would leave one area, another group would take over.
Wander the grounds, pet the cats, take in the atmosphere and enjoy the experience. Don’t forget to go into the house full of cats and the plaques in the wall. There’s even a koi pond in one of the houses with an untouched koi. (I guess they have no Turkish vans…)
And don’t forget to donate to this dedicated bunch. It can’t be cheap to feed these wonderful creatures.
As Michelin would say well worth the journey. And 5 hours of driving later, I agree.

We had an AMAZING experience here yesterday! It was very easy to make a reservation for the tour. It lasted around 90 minutes, and was absolutely wonderful! We loved seeing so many happy and beautiful cats that will forever be in a safe and amazing place. We work in rescue and had been looking forward to visiting for the last few years. We were not let down. The workers and volunteers here are very dedicated and the wonderful woman who started it all was so nice and friendly! We loved the tour, and we loved all the cats! A definite must see for all cat lovers!

This place is heaven on earth! We drove all the way from Los Angeles to visit and it more than exceeded my expectations. I called on a Thursday to make a reservation for that same Saturday and the woman who answered was very friendly/​helpful. She made us feel very welcomed despite our last minute plans.
Once we arrived I couldn’t believe how truly amazing this sanctuary is! You can tell the cats here feel very safe and secure because they will walk up to you as soon as you walk in and follow you throughout the entire tour. It’s an incredibly clean compound, doesn’t smell at all.
It’s astonishing to see cats living not only cage free but also harmoniously with countless other cats, dogs, peacocks and humans. If you’re a cat person, you will never want to leave this place. Can’t wait to visit again! ¹⁰⁄₁₀
