The Garbage Man

We have really liked the service we get from Garbage Man. The only time they’ve missed us is when there’s been extreme snow. Otherwise they come and will take pretty much what we put out, and that can be a lot! We had Waste Mgmt before and their service was always iffy, but the rates kept going up. It’s been several years since we switched and haven’t regretted it.

I should have read the reviews here first. My first date of service was today. Predictably, my garbage and recycling were still waiting for me when I arrived home from work. Do not sign with these people.

I switched after several steep rate hikes from Waste Management. The service was great for me, including recycling. I had an issue with the office one time, but was able to get it resolved quickly.

STAY FAR FAR AWAY! Hands down the most abysmal service and customer service I have ever experienced! I am now on my THIRD missed pickup in less than two months. They steadfastly refuse to call me back as promised to resolve the issue, have not issued credits for missed pickups as promised, etc. I am sick and tired of having my trash out for an entire week hoping and praying they come by. Extremely embarrassing with neighbors driving by constantly. Good riddance! The service is, quite literally, GARBAGE.

Do NOT use this company. We hired them and in the two months they only managed to pick up our trash twice. We had to call every week because their drivers were too incompetent to find our house, even tho our neighbors used them too. There were times it took THREE weeks for them to pick up our trash. Useless trash company. Garbage Man sucks. They also charged us for service after we canceled.

The worst experience ever! Please do not set up an account with them!
Here are the reasons:
— We have to call them at least twice/​month to have our garbage picked up, because «they miss them»
— When you call them, the customer service WILL ACCUSE you that it was your fault, because the trash can wasn’t out there, despite the fact that we usually put the cans out the night before or by 6:00am
— On more than we would care to count occupations, the TRASH guy will just dump the Recycles into his truck (into Trash truck) and simply drive away
— I had to go out side to catch them doing this in the act so I can tell them to stop and leave our recycling bins so that the Recycling trucks can pick them up.
— When I called the customer service, the man that answered (after 50min. on hold) accused me of making it confusing for them. When I said we have two green recycling bins the clearly states «Recycles», he asked me «well… what do you think is the reason for them putting the recycles into the trash truck?» Are you kidding?
— We have tried to cancel our account and get refunds, but NO ONE will get back to us. We have called and talked to someone, left messages, emailed the company multiple times and NOT one will respond to our request. And we just keep receiving the reminder to pay for the service in mail and via email.
— Just this past Friday (8÷28÷2015) The Recycling truck didn’t come despite the fact that I have the calendar of their pick-​up schedule right in front of me. So I called and I was on hold for this time nearly 1hour. When a woman answered the phone she didn’t even acknowledge that I was on hold for that long and she took my phone number and said she will call me back to find out what is going on with the Recycling truck. You guessed it, she never called me back. So around 6:00pm, I brought back the Green Recycling bins back inside.
The only good news is that our service contract ends on 9÷1÷2015. So We get to finally be released from this «contract» where one of us pays for the service and the other party gets to not abide its contract.
Please please DO NOT use this company!
I will be contacting BBB on Monday.

*10−15−15 Update. Another pitiful comment from Bob about his company on Google Reviews. I was and still want a refund for all the time that I’ve spent dealing with his company. I still don’t even have the refund promised and just got hung up on again after being put on hold for five minutes by Barbara. Fine operation Bob has here. Seems like he respects the hell out of his customers. I’m out trying to screw anyone, though it looks like ‘The Garbage Man’. Buyer beware.
This is for «The Garbage Man In Parker» and not the other one. I was ready to give Bob and his team kudos and even a decent rating, but I can no longer.
In 12 weeks, I had to call 7 times total to work out issues with my garbage, maybe more but those are the ones that stick.
Multiple missed recycle pickups (there was only ONE pickup for recycling that I didn’t have to call), causing my recycling garbage to sit on the curb an extra day each time.
When I signed up, I was told that I could ‘put garbage in anything (I) want’, so I put it in a 96 gallon that came with the house.
3 Months in, this is suddenly a problem and his driver doesn’t want to pick it up. The pail is half full and not that heavy… I’ve had luggage that’s heavier and I don’t think this even breaks the 50lb mark.
My honest opinion is that I think animal waste in our garbage grossed out or in some way made the driver not like the pickup and they’ve just been telling ‘stories’ to Bob and his team.
Bob called me this morning to tell me that after 3 months, he’s not going to have his teams picking up my garbage anymore. He tells me the other day that his guys can pick up up to 80lbs or something, but it changes to 50 lbs in conversation today. I think Bob is tired of dealing with me and would rather just cut his losses.
This is a terrible way to do business and I think a terrible business to do business with. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone wanting easy, on time, on schedule and overall reliable garbage service.
Just remember, they’ll call you back IMMEDIATELY to get your money for signing up or dues… I’ve had two return calls out of seven when I complained. Just two. Take that for ‘customer service’ as you see fit reading this.

If you enjoy bizarre additional fees then this company is for you. We cancelled after the latest one, $ 21 plus they added an extra special surprise… a $ 5 late fee! It was reversed after I advised them that we had been taking pictures of our garbage.
They claim that the drivers levy the additional fees. Really? Really?
Since I am home I have watched their performance for over 2 years. Trust me they do not take the time to record information. They empty the cans and throw them on the yard and roar off.
I have never observed any form of recycling services so most around here that use them do not recycle.
Pretty sad to have to take pictures of your garbage for proof.

Paid for service, never received anything from them-​ever. I asked for a refund and never heard from them-​ever, until I threatened to bring in the BBB. Do NOT ever use this company.

We have been a customer for about three years. The have never missed our pickup day and the service is great. We use the recycle service and have been very satisfied. I would highly recommend The Garbage Man Parker.

Switched to The Garbage Man a year ago because they sold themselves as «small», «local», «green» and a «lower priced option.» Well, after a year of spotty service (we had to call several times to get our garbage and/​or recycling picked up) and then witnessing them combining our garbage and recycling in the same truck/​load (not «green» at all), we’re back with Pro Disposal. When we called to cancel our account and told them about the comingling of the garbage/​recycling they just said that they were short handed and sometimes that happens. I’m sorry, but if you’re going to hold yourself out as a «greener» company, you best deliver and not use it as a greenwashing way to get business. After canceling our account, they charged us the very next day for the next quarter and then it took 3 weeks of calling and bothering them to refund our money before we saw the check. Bad decision to switch from our original, reliable carrier.

I previously used this business at my last residence and loved them, was extremely happy with them. I used them for over 2 years and never had a problem and loved their combined recycling. However, this time around I went to sign up for service at my new address and they entered my address wrong into the system. I signed up for service last week and they were supposed to come by on Tuesday. They never picked up my trash and have since been promising every day this week that someone would be by to get it. Today I told them to either come get it or cancel my service. She said the drivers could not come by to get my trash. At this point I have 3 bags of trash and a trash can that have been in front of my house for days because of their poor service — not to mention that the trash can has since been ran over by someone and damaged. Customer service seemed completely uncaring that I wanted to cancel service with them. They also have been poor about returning calls anytime I’ve left messages on their voicemail when their call volume is high — I know when I was cancelling service at the last location it never got entered in the system and nobody ever called me, therefore I got billed again and had to call them to have them refund the charge. If you’re lucky enough to be in a good route area, you may actually like their service. But their customer service is abysmal

I’m in Castle Rock. After having poor service from three other local trash service companies, I wanted a local business. The other companies left me with trash all over the place, broken glass in my driveway, questionable pickup times, frequent next day pickups. Not anymore. The Garbage Man has been perfect! Early morning pickup with no issues. He even emailed us AND sent us a letter when they were expecting a delay in service from a holiday. Sorry for the folks who had the other bad reviews, but here in Castle Rock, The Garbage Man is the best here at the end of 2013.

Really incompetent. We set up service and had the previous owners garage cans, which we were told we could use. After a week of service, out trash cans disappeared. The company was confused and picked them up. I spoke to the office and the girl said she would talk with the manager and get them back to us «ASAP». 2 weeks later, I’m still waiting for them. Not impressed.

Sooo frustrating! We have been with these guys in Littleton fro the past two months after buying a house and this company has been incredibly unreliable both in pick up and customer service. They didn’t pick up our recycling for 1 month (2 pick ups) and when I called, I sometimes got stellar customer service and sometimes had horrible customer service (literally to the point where I wanted to ask them if they actually worked there). For the past two weeks things finally came around and I thought they were getting on track until today when my trash wasn’t picked up. Come on guys… This shouldn’t be this hard!!!

I liked the idea of trying a company other than waste management but am really wishing I stuck with what I knew worked. They came by 3 months before service was going to start promising all sorts of things that I should have been smart enough not buy it all. Considering that they had 3 months to prepare, you would assume they would have things like trash cans ordered but that would be asking a little too much. I have been going over a month storing my trash in the garage attracting all sorts of mice and unwanted friends. I would probably be more flexible with it but every time I call them they insist the cans will be there when I get home from work if they even pick up the phone.
The customer service is fairly lacking because they will say whatever you want to hear on the phone with no intention of actually doing anything. It was impossible to actually get a bill and each time I called I was told something different. I would happily cancel once my 3 months I signed up for ends but they have a $ 100 fee if you leave within 2 years.

Not impressed. Missed pickups and poor office management. Going somewhere else.
Update. A lot better service now. Must have been growing pains.

Over the weekend neighbors were mentioning that this company had a sales person who kept knocking and ringing doorbells at each house for over 3 minutes and did we have anyone like that; we were not home so would not know. Monday night someone rang the doorbell, opened the door and despite the NO SOLICITING yellow sign, there they were saying, I see your sign… and my interrupting response was then why did you ring the bell? Whatever you are selling we are not interested and closed the door.
Not one second later not only did the doorbell ring again but a loud banging on the front door and the door knob moved. In order to bang on the front door you have to open the screen door first. Same sales person saying I just want to know who your trash company is. The only way to get rid of the salesperson was to threaten to call the police of which we did and they did send a police car looking for him. None of us know if this was the owner or just someone the company hired to garner business. We would never sign up based solely on the aggressive and harassing sales tactics, if this is how they try to get business how do they treat the customers? You do not ignore no soliciting signs, you do not open a screen door after you rang the bell and bang on it nor do you jiggle the door knob. We are still debating filing a formal police complaint.
Let it be known we have not used this service based on the reasons above.

It’s a small garbage company. They are less expensive than the other companies that come to my area. However, they aren’t big enough to manage vacation holds and other special requests. My son gets on the bus at 6:45 and takes the trash out with him on trash days. I have been paying on time and they somehow often seem to miss my house and I usually only have one trash can out there for them to pick up. They say, «get it out to the street by 7:00 and we’ll pick it up.» That just doesn’t always seem to be the case.
