Tanner’s Leather Repairs

The owner (JR) is a lair and a cheat. Last year he promised to re-​cover my kitchen 4 bar chairs and «make them beautiful». He took them to his store in August and said 2 weeks. By October he had promised several times that they would be finished the next week… and they were not… then he avoided my calls. By thanksgiving I was pretty upset and he promised again… and again he did not deliver… and again he avoided my calls. He said he was still working on them, but I never saw them. Christmas week I was hopping mad. JR told me that he didn’t like me and returned the chairs stripped of the original leather (useless metal frames). It then took me 3 more months to get my substantial deposit back.

The quality of their work is the best I’ve found in metro-​Denver. They aren’t fast, but I’ve always been completely happy with the quality of their work. They have resoled many pairs of boots for me over many years and I have no hesitation recommending them.

After moving to Texas from Parker, Colorao I sent my chaps to have my zipper replaced. They did a great job and the zipper is still working 5 years later. We are currently on a trip to Alaska driving from Texas. We stopped in Parker and I dropped off a halter and a purse that needed a new zipper. It was shipped back to me within a week. This is an amazing leather repair shop. Quality is excellent and they know how to repair just about anything.

Amazing job on my favorite shoes! I thought they were a lost cause but thanks to Tanner’s I get to keep wearing them. Even better, they look like new!

I have a vintage Herman Miller leather sofa that had a tear in the leather. I couldn’t find any business in the Denver area that would touch it. I had sent out many emails to different businesses and to my surprise I got an email from Tanner’s and they told me to bring in the section of leather that needed repair. I got it back after two weeks. And it looks great.
Everyone at the shop was very nice and the work was done promptly and very well. I have no idea why they got some bad reviews.

I went there on a Thursday to have a hat band cut (little 20″ piece of leather)… they said it would be done by Saturday. (Weird they need so much time for something so simple)… I go back Monday and she tells me it will be another week!!! How long does it take to cut a small strip of leather!?! That small of a job would have been done on the spot! I picked up my head band and decided to buy a piece of leather and do it myself… To add… the young woman with the thick framed glasses was completely rude both times I went… I didn’t feel valued as a customer at all, she was snarky and just «talking to me in tones» (lets put it that way). Even though they are a few minutes away from my house, I will not go back… not recommended.

I have a 10 yr. old pair of Smooth Quill Ostrich boots from Lucchese’s Classics Collection, a completely hand made boot that cost around $ 800. I finally wore through the soles, called Lucchese & they wanted $ 250 to do the job. So I checked with Sheplers Western Wear in DTC who recommended Tanner’s. I checked reviews & was a little concerned about what people had written, but decided to give them a try.
The gentleman at the counter when I dropped off the boots was completely nice & helpful with no «attitude» as others have written. He quoted a price for both half heels, or full heels & soles, so I actually had a choice. He said they would be done in two weeks & they would call when they were ready. 12 days later Tanner’s called saying the boots were ready. I picked them up, the lady at the counter was nothing but nice & helpful, taking time to share tips on caring for my boots. And the bill was exactly what was quoted.
The cherry on top of this experience was the quality of their work. My boots fit exactly as they did when I took them in, a true sign of a quality craftsman. I won’t hesitate to take any leather work to Tanner’s, they know what they are doing & treated this customer very well.

I took a briefcase in to Tanner’s recently for a new zipper and strap repair. Although it was promised in 10 days, I had heard nothing after 2 weeks, so I called to find out the status. I was told that the new zipper would be $ 60. When I pointed out that we had had 2 zippers replaced on the same bag there a few years back, and each was $ 30, the repair man basically accused me of lying, saying there was no evidence that they had worked on it before. (This was odd since the girl who checked it in said that she could tell which of the zippers they had replaced before!) The guy then rudely said that he guessed that I had gotten a good deal before but it wouldn’t happen again. I reluctantly told him to go ahead with the repair but after thinking about it more (and stewing over the fact that he had accused me of lying) I called back and told him not to do it. I would NOT recommend Tanner’s to anyone, for anything! The new management has no idea what customer service means and treats customers like dirt. Take your business elsewhere, unless you are into this kind of abuse!

A few months ago I brought in my favorite pair of boots and asked Tanners to change the color to dark brown. They looked great, but unfortunately when I nicked or scuffed them you could see the old color underneath. I took them back to Tanners and they re-​dyed the leather free of charge. I haven’t had any problems with nicks or scuffs and my boots look like new! Thanks Tanners!

My first time in and had trouble with new management on getting a saddle done on time. Found out new owners and the girl at the desk was horrible, but I love the tack shop and have just decided to never use the repair shop. I love the tack shop there and have purchased many items with no problem at all. I loved Linda who worked there. (She is gone) bought a side pull bridle and when I got it home I discovered the rings where back wards. I took it back to see if they could fix it. I paid $ 60.00 (should of checked it over closer). When I show them how it is stitched wrong the owner became very angry (not sure why he did not make the bridle) he asked me what I wanted to do and I said I really want to turn it back in, or get store credit.
He accused me of now knowing if this is the original bridle I bought. Had the receipt i told them that I am always there and would never do that. He told me to «get out» and they don’t know tack they just buy it lol. I have never been treated so rudely. Even the girls on the tack side have given the number of the old owner since I guess he works out of his garage. These new owners should be run out of town they are the worst I have ever dealt with… god help you if anything ever goes wrong if you do business there. They don’t deserve one star

I took a baseball glove to Tanner’s to be relaced. No torn leather or repairs necessary. Just relace the pocket area. There were a few red flags that should have sent me right out the door. There were numerous handwritten signs posted around the store stating the business was under new management and prices had increased so like it or leave. Secondly, despite having a handful of workers in the store, I had to stand at the counter like an idiot waiting for someone to acknowledge my existence even though they were 10 feet away from me. It was almost as if I were invisible… This also happened when I went to pick up the glove. Although they appear to hate waiting on customers, they need to realize the customers bring the $ so it wouldn’t hurt to at least treat them like they are not trespassers. I didn’t not get a specific price when I dropped off the glove because they said it would depend on how much work it was to relace, but they said about $ 20. When I picked up the item (which took about 3 weeks to relace) the cost was $ 60. I would have never left the glove if I knew it was $ 60. I could buy a brand new one for not much more. I’m sure they are fine if you need a saddle for your horse, but I would definitely never recommend them to fix a baseball glove. Definitely not a fan of Tanner’s!

Well the only reason I gave this place 2 stars and not 1 is I used them a lot from 2004 – 2010. They did good work and the price was reasonable. Now that they moved from the Pine location to Parker Rd location, not so much! The prices have greatly increased, customer service horrible, and completion time too long!
I found another great place in Parker to replace my heels and soles for ½ the price and ¼ the time. Plus they did a great job!

Nice place! Everyone who’s got anything leather should know a place like this. I had a leather attaché that I got in Italy 14 years ago, and of course it was starting to fall apart. I took it in for them to kind of patch it up, but the did more than that. They reinforced it with leather and restitched it, basically rebuilt it. They also replaced the soles on a pair of dress shoes, another thumbs up. Very fair pricing as well. I’m a fan!

We have been going to them for years and have never had a problem. They are fast, efficient and friendly. We especially love Megan… she has a great sense of humor and never laughs at our requests.
We have had new soles put on boots, straps repaired, bridles lengthened. I even had a concealment pocket added to a favorite purse — they do a great job no matter how tough!
An added bonus is the consignment tack shop that was recently added to the store. We can browse for saddles, bits and chaps AND make a little extra cash selling the tack we have lying around collecting dust.
We will remain loyal customers to Tanner’s!
