History

Established in 2006.

Marmot is an outdoor clothing and sporting goods company founded in 1973. The company was founded by two University of California, Santa Cruz students who wished to make their own mountaineering equipment.

Marmot grew from 7 dealers in 1974 to 11 in 1977. Specialized, knowledgeable, trained retailers were always part of the original equation.

Marmot has grown since 1977. It is now headquartered in Rohnert Park, California. It now has offices in California, Colorado, Canada, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany. Its products are distributed in over 60 countries.

However, the company has not changed that much in thirty six years. It is still all about the highest quality performance product.

He and George Sideris drove a van out to Utah from Manchester, New Hampshire 30 some years ago, and they quickly adopted Park City as their new hometown. Scott’s favorite places in the world are his porch in Park City’s old town and his summer cottage in the Uintas…
