Petco

My experience at Petco was Horrible. I went and purchased a fish tank. I was there three times. I received three different answers on how to start a fish tank. One person said wait a day until you add the fish. Another sales person said one week. One person told me to clean the tank you had to empty entire 10 gallons weekly another said only a portion. One said you had to take the fish out when you cleaned the tank the other person said you never take the fish out when cleaning tank. I purchased three fish they were dead in a matter of five hours. Spoke to manager of fish department and explained I was there on three seperate occasions and received inconsistent information. Please give me direction on how to set up tank so this would not happen again. Not only did he not care he said everyone has a different opinion on how to set up a fish tank. He could not pick a lane and clearly tell me how to set up a tank. Great Advise thanks for wasting my time and money. A few days later I went to another fish store. They were spot on gave me clear directions to get me started in the correct direction. I would not give any business to Petco in the future.

I really wish I could give a minus star I would give 3 minus stars because I have had 3 fish die since i last listen to petco paramus. Not only do they kill your fish but they do nothing to make up for their stupidity. Would would have think someone might reach out to offer some help in replacing the fish I lost. I will replace them in time, don’t have the money right now. But I will not buy these or anything else from any petco. As much as I like to blame the guys at paramus, I sure they are told to do as they did by cooperate. Sad but True. So now I hate Petco and will never buy anything else from them as long as I live. please be careful if your buyinglive animals from petco!!! WARNING !!!

I brought my wild 12 week Pomeranian here for classes. He’s knows so much that he would have never learned from me. The trainer I had, Rodrigo, was awesome. I told him about my elderly aunt who has dementia and he discussed different ways to train the dog so we wouldn’t lose him. God for bid she got out and left a door open. I would really recommend the puppy 1 class for people like myself that don’t know the basics to dog training. Also try and book your class with him. He was really great.

This is for the Grooming Department, I’m not too sure what methods they use to groom but my dog is absolutely petrified of bath time now! We have never had any problems with her before bringing her to this location!!! Our new groomer says she thinks maybe she was sprayed in the face because she gets really anxious when they come remotely close to her face with the shower head, and when bringing her to a different location we found out that they gave my dog «bad comments» saying she was troublesome and tough to handle… She is a 13lb Shih Tzu!!! if you have patience she is NOT «tough to handle» we are not overbearing/​overprotective owners who think we’re raising some kind of princess, and by all means if our dog was any type of brat i wouldnt be posting this review, but trust me they probably have some inexperienced, impatient individuals in the grooming department SO BEWARE!

This is my go to location being it is the closest to my house and always has my fur babies favorite cat food. Everyone that works here is always pleasant and helps me with tough decisions like what collar is cuter. I love shopping here because after spending $ 100 they send you a free $ 5 coupon as long as you are signed up for the free petpals rewards. The isles are always clean and very rarely do the cages of the small animals or fish tanks look unkempt. They have a really good clearance section from time to time where I pick up awesome soft cloth harnesses for my kids (yes kids) for $ 5 compared to the $ 30-​$ 40 they actually cost and its only because new seasonal prints have come in.
When my cats were ity bity babies I came here rite after I rescued them from a friends backyard, they were so young they needed to continue to be bottle fed and the workers here really helped me out. The employees gave me step by step instructions on what I needed to do and walked the isles with me picking out formula and bottles you name it they were rite there every step of the way. The service that they provided me is enough that I never have to step foot in another pet store again, mainly because I don’t want to go anywhere else after my experience with them. Thanks again Petco for helping me keep my babies happy and healthy.

I went to this store because it was convenient & needed to return something. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE !!! The Asian guy (I forgot his name already) he has glasses. He seemed so annoyed to help me, he had an attitude problem. You can tell he he hates his job or just hates returning/​exchanging items.

Another Petco with good, friendly service! Did not look at the fish section, but the cat and dog supplies were very well stocked and thr prices are always reasonable.

My boyfriend and I went in less than two weeks ago, and we bought 4 hermit crabs. (We had one, but hermit crabs need to have lots of buddies or they won’t survive) They were all infested with mites and one of the guys working there told us to keep them on a dry paper towel for a week to get rid of the mites, and they didn’t seem to care about the whole tanks infestation. This was very bad advice, and I feel they should have been concerned about the living conditions of the living creatures.
We googled how to rid then if mites instead, and picked up a gallon of distilled water, heated it slightly to about 75°f and submerged them each for about 30 seconds three times with beaks between each dunk. This took care of the mites, but one of the four died the days later, and a second one died a few days after. We have never had hermit crabs perish so quickly after getting them, and in my opinion the poor quality of life they live in the shop is the cause.
I went in today to get a refund for the two perished crabs, and as I waited in the back for an associate to check my receipt and perished crabs, I looked into one of the lizard habitats and saw a lizard who was slumped with his face mushed into the floor, eyes closed, barely breathing, and he had most of his tale and his back right leg ripped off! When the associate came to help me I told her about it, she moved the cage around and was like, let’s just take care of your hermit crabs. I would have preferred she take care of that poor lizard!
On top of that, the prices at Petco are pretty steep and the atmosphere is grungy. It is certainly not the best pet shop around! We only went there because they are the only place that sells hermit crabs around here.
I bought a four pack of doggie froyo for my two huskies and was shocked to learn it was $ 11.96. This is double the price of anywhere else. I will never shop there again.

Bait and switch. Manager Matt is awful! They advertise things on the shelf for $ 2.99 with a buy 3 get 1 free advertisement. I even asked a Petco professional if the advertisement was correct and he said yes 100%. So I picked up 8 of them. When I got to the counter the check out kid said they were a different price. The manager wouldn’t honor the price. This is highly illegal!!! This «manager» is a joke! He tried giving me a $ 5 coupon to spend anyway I want. I gave it back and told him he should honor the price. He refused so I told him no problem I’ll take my business else where. The amount of money I spend on fish alone in that store pays his salary. Since moving here in August I’ve spent over $ 2 – 3000 easily and would have continued to spend. I get my two dogs groomed their as well and my fish and fish supplies for 4 fish tanks that I have. Smart business move pal! This place is normally pretty great, close to my house and in general has decent prices. Manager Matt with the long mop looking hair cut if that’s your name it could be something else who knows way to cost your branch a lot of business! My next email will be to corporate

I used to shop here a lot when it was on my way home from work. It is just like other Petco chain stores where they have what you need.
I sometimes find they’re a little pricier than Petsmart I think.
And unlike Petsmart, I don’t really see as many employees working the floor. When I do get to the register though, they’re pretty nice (depends who’s working that day).
The only pitfall for this Petco to me is that some days it smells. It must be maintenance of all the small pets they have for sale. Though, this isn’t always.
However, it’s conveniently located and if you just need to run in for pet stuff, it’s a decent store.

This may take a while… So 2 weeks ago a colleague tells me she saw a rat for adoption at this location. I had been talking about getting a new pet rat (I’ve had pet rats in the past, they’re great pets!)I go the very next day. I don’t see anyplace where this rat is offered for adoption. I had to chase down an employee to find out about it. There was a tank with two really huge white rats that had scrawled across the glass «75%off“She looked around a bit bewildered and decided to point at the 75% off tank. I told her they were for sale, not adoption, I was interested in the one that was up for adoption. Besides which the 75% off rats were HUGE and 75% dead… She goes into an office. For a long time. She comes out after about 15 minutes and tells me the rat that is for adoption had to go to the vet. It scratched it’s eye… I ask when it will be back, if it is still for adoption. She doesn’t know… At that point I think she may have thought just for a second how all that sounded… She offered to take my number and call me when the rat was back.
I can work with that.
I figure I’ll never get that call because the rat died and they just don’t want to tell me that.
Today, I get a call saying they actually have 2 rats for adoption!
I ask what time they’re open till and am told 9 pm, but not to come that late because there’s paperwork to fill out.
So, I rearrange my after work plans so I don’t inconvenience anyone and get there straight after work.
I have to chase down an employee… again…I say «I’d like to see the rats that are for adoption.»
Well, this confuses her. She doesn’t know that any rats are up for adoption. I tell her I got a call earlier in the day saying there were 2 rats for adoption. More confusion. She tells me I need to fill out paperwork.
She goes into that office that the last one got lost in for 15 minutes.
She comes back after about 10 minutes, with a form for me to fill out. She stands with me while I fill it out and goes back into that office. I am now of the mind that The Great and Powerful Oz does exist and that’s where he
, after waiting over 20 minutes she comes out with a box containing a rat. I ask if I can at least see what I’m adopting. She opens the box and there’s a HUGE rat. This thing is the size of a short eared, long tailed quiet Chihuahua. Which would be great if I had a back yard, and wanted a dog… I tell her I don’t have the room for this rat. I then look around and note the tank with the two huge 75% off rats is no longer on the selling
there a rocket scientist in the house? Never mind, I think I get it… I am also buying cat food so I get on line and the staff is now discussing the non adoption with me standing right there hearing it. Y’all get one star for adoption, but for the rest of this… hell…

I love Petco. I just wish it were closer. It’s a great alternative to Petsmart and, in my opinion, carries better quality food. There are other newer chains moving into the area, but, you can’t beat Petco for the selection, especially of apparel and toys. They offer a great selection of seasonal merchandise. My dogs and cat are part of my family, so I like to include them in the festivities. The prices are good also.
The only negative thing I can say about Petco is that it’s a «chain». I like the personal attention of smaller pet stores. You don’t get that as much at Petco, but that’s not a problem if you aren’t looking for help. It’s a fun outing with the dogs, since they get to see and smell new things. I love Petco.

I have been purchasing dog food and treats for several years. On Friday December 13, 2013 I requested assistance from the only person I could find which was a Natures Variety rep. named Donell. She was rude, obnoxious and unprofessional.
She proceeded to give me her opinion on a product, and when I explained that I appreciated her opinion but would like to purchase the product anyway, she rudely stated that she would not sell me or even continue to help me with the product because she was against it. I feel if you are in the business of service, then give it professionally. Keep your feelings and or opinions to yourself unless asked. I am giving a 3 rating because the manager apologized for the reps behavior and tried assisted me at the end. Its the one BAD apple.

The animal urine all over the place is very inviting the lazy staff don’t clean anything. And they sell defective products that have been returned. I bought a laser cat toy it says on the box requires 3 AA batteries i opened the box found 3 batteries in it. The toy was very broken and the batteries was a good sign it was returned defective.

I like this store, but wish it would carry more of the stuff in the physical store that Petsmart sells online. Parking is abundant here and it’s easy to get to off of the highway. They have all the basics you would need for pets but not the specialty items that they sell online on their website. I would like to see more things like wearable backpacks for humans to carry their small dogs in, bicycle carts to put your dog in to pull behind your bike, and bike baskets to put on the front of your bike and carry your small dog inside of. All these things can be found online but not in the store… I left a similar review for ‘Petsmart’ as well because I find the lack of these certian items to be the same in most of these types of stores.

love the recent renovations. makes checking out a lot easier than it was before. definitely skip over the other places petco is your one stop shop!

They have the food that my cat likes. They have the litter my cat likes. I’ve been shopping here since I got her.
They occasionally send off a 10% off coupon off your order… and run sales on various things.
Watch out for dog urine on the floor, as they roam around with their owners.
