Evelyn Street Day School

All I have to say is that when I go to pick up my son at the end of the day, he DOES NOT want to go home! He LOVES it here!!! He’s 3 years old and has been going to this school for about 6 months now and we have nothing but great things to say about this school. Even when my mom goes to pick him up she always tells me how warm, caring and attentive the teachers are. They did hire new staff recently but I have not had any issues with the new teachers. My son seems to like them and considering how new they are they seem to know my son pretty well already. Lucy the director is wonderful and always ready to hear any of my questions or thoughts. During the 1^st week when my son 1^st started school, I was a nervous wreck. My son has never been in school setting before so I was very worried about him all day. Thankfully, Lucy gave me her cell # so I can periodically text her to check on him. So for like at least 3X a day she replied to my crazy mom-​zilla texts to put my mind at ease to let me know that he’s doing fine and even sent me few pics! Also, I gotta mention that this school has got to be the ONLY school in the area that gives military discounts! We are a military family and child care around this area is not cheap and this is SO much appreciated.

Place was on point. Not any more. Previous attentive staff quit. New staff is not dedicated. People quitting every week. Other children’s pacifiers in my bag, etc. Try it if you like, but shop a few other places too. Good luck!

We enrolled our 16 month daughter here full time in March 2015. We had been using a nanny but decided that our daughter was ready for more interaction with other children her age. We had visited a number of day care centers in the Paramus, Ridgewood, and Waldwick areas.
The nice thing about this center is that it’s brand new, it opened up in January 2015. As such, the facility is state of the art, by far the nicest of the centers we visited. There’s a very comprehensive security system in each room. It’s also eco-​friendly featuring things like VOC free paint, green cleaning supplies, etc. There’s a nice indoor gym as well as two outdoor gyms that will be nice once the weather warms up.
Another key differentiator here is the meal plan. Each full time child receives an organic lunch each day and two healthy snacks and organic milk. My wife and I are extremely particular about the quality of our daughter’s diet at home which consists primarily of lean organic meats and organic fruits/​vegetables so finding a day care that aligned with her diet at home was extremely important to us.
From a schedule standpoint, the center is open from 6:30am until 7:00pm which are some of the longest hours we have seen which was important to us since my wife and I both work.
Lucy, the owner is very hands on and detail-​oriented so we trust that she’s working to ensure the best care for our daughter day in and day out. Because the center is brand new, they are offering introductory pricing which we found pretty reasonable, especially once you consider that it includes the lunch and snacks. We will try to remember to return to Unilocal for a more detailed review once we have 90 days under our belt.
P. S. If you live north of the daycare center, the easiest way to get there is to take the Midland Avenue exit off of RT17S. From there, cross over RT17 and make your first right in front of the post office onto Sette Drive and you can cut through the Container Store parking lot to get to Evelyn Street. This will probably save you 5 minutes from the route that your GPS will likely suggest.
