Comfort Inn & Suites

I like the Comfort Inn chain and usually do not have issues with them. I came late on a Monday night and after waiting for a drunk guest to finish doing whatever she was doing (the guy behind the desk apologized profusely on her behalf — no biggie as long as she was leaving me alone), I got my room. It was clean and quiet especially considering how close to the lobby I was. The breakfast is sufficient enough to get you to your next meal. The Location was why I chose this particular Inn and that was perfect and I got to meeting in perfect time. I would stay here again if I had to be at Fairleigh Dickenson again.

Being in the middle of everything (shopping, dining options, etc.) can be a beautiful thing… but in the case of the Comfort Inn and their location on Route 17 it’s not. Despite having multiple dining and shopping areas across and up the street it’s a very difficult and dangerous trek. To go across the street you need to travel in the opposite direction until there’s a turnaround then fight your way back onto Route17. The hotel is located right off an exit lane to another highway so as you’re trying to get over other cars are speeding up and trying to merge. Walking anywhere is just not an option due to the heavy traffic flow and split highway. So unless you like fighting traffic and going out of your way just to go across the street plan your accommodations accordingly. Or you could just settle for dining at the adjoining Red Lobster.
Now for the hotel. It certainly wasn’t the worst but it wasn’t the best either. There is no elevator and has steps going into the hotel and down to the breakfast area, as well as to other floors. Being familiar with Hilton’s Hampton Inn line I think this is the goal the Comfort Inn is trying to achieve but they need to step it up a notch. Upon entering I was overwhelmed by an odor best described as a urinal cake or toilet bowl deodorant. It was not pleasant. The clerk was nice and very friendly and gave us pointers for navigating the hostile highway outside. The lobby and breakfast area although cleaned looked dated — the black and glass furniture reminded me of something you will get from a Rent a Center clearance sale in 1999.
Our room featuring one king bed was very clean although on the small size. Had it not been for the large dark armoire that was immediately inside the door it would have felt more current. There wasn’t a closet, only this armoire which took up precious real estate. The bathroom was spotless, except for the puddles of water all over the counter. The (plastic) faux tile tub enclosure looked like a new installation, as did the granite counters. Regardless of the recent updates this bathroom was small — no denying it. This bathroom was smaller than the one in my rowhome back home. The bed looked clean and comfortable but we both had trouble sleeping and were not well rested in the morning. We agreed it was because of the undersized yet abundant array of pillows. No matter what way we tried to position ourselves there was no comfort. We also could hear every conversation that took place in the hallway which didn’t help matters.
Sometime during the night emergency crews were summoned. We have no idea why but were rudely awakened by the glare of flashing lights thru our windows. This went on for some time.
In the morning breakfast was provided and the area was clean, although not a lot of people took advantage of it (us included), could it have been the foul smell again?
For $ 150/​night we were disappointed but not angry. Had this been a $ 100/​night motel I wouldn’t have been as bothered but for $ 150? NOT! Comfort Inn is more comparable to a Microtell then a Hampton Inn and should market themselves as such.

Don’t stay here. By far, the rudest employees on the face of the earth. The room smelled like someone died in it (235), heat didn’t work. No elevator. One night and gone

Got placed here as it was Hotwire deal; just a 1 night deal. They placed me in a smoking room; even though I explained that my lungs couldn’t handle a room like this. I had no choice but to accept — they wouldn’t cancel my reservation. After 1 hour in the room, I checked out, as I couldn’t breathe. Hotwire called up the hotel to try and get me a refund and the hotel wouldn’t provide it — SHAME ON THE HOTEL! Outside of this fiasco, I will note, the location for the place was outdated. For the money, I could have stayed at either the nearby Courtyard or the Hyatt, but I foolishly used Hotwire. Those two other hotels appeared to be better — at least from the outside. I’ll never use Hotwire for this area again, and I’ll certainly never stay at a Comfort Inn again (I’d rather sleep in my car). Also, for those of you that use Triple A, you need to do more shopping before you check into a hotel. I saw two guests do a last minute check-​in at this place because of Triple A, they should have done more research.

This hotel is pristene. I personally checcked the picture frames in the room by rubbing my index finger across it and I never got any dust on them. (I watch a lot of Hotel Impossible and I am a hospitality major in college so I know what to look for) Anyway, our fluffy king size bed was one of the best I’ve slept in so far at any hotel. The in room jacuzzi was fantastic and I used it 6 times within a nights stay. Every little detail was perfect. I would highly reccomend coming here.

We had to find a place to stay. We wanted a clean inexpensive place. Staff members are very nice and friendly, actually nicer than most five star hotels I stayed before. Very clean and comfortable. No jacuzzi but we had everything we needed and more at very reasonable price.

Had a great 2 night stay here! Normally I’m skeptical about comfort inns and am a but skeptical about staying there compared to competitors, but it’s 3 star rating shines true. Both nights I had a warm greeting by Awesome Allen at the front desk and the room and amenities were new and clean! Highly recommend!

Its a nice hotel — however they have «residents» that live here and its unprofessional to have them in the hallway talking down to paying customers. And the hotel staff has NO control over it.
It is sad because it can be a fantastic hotel if they just did not allow the residents to rule the desk like that.

If you’re trying to stay in Paramus, this is a very good value hotel. I paid $ 93/​night (they have a first-​time rate and a AAA rate). The bathroom could have been one notch cleaner, but the room itself was clean, comfortable, had easy temperature control, and was spacious enough. Request a room away from the highway side if you are bothered by a teensy bit of noise.
The only real trouble here is that getting around this part of New Jersey can be really frustrating if you don’t know where you’re going. Bring directions in advance!!!
