Freddy’s Carburetors

I smog all my 5 cars/​trucks here. He’s rebuilt my carburetors fully warranties his work, really honest guy. A lot of law enforcement and fire go to him. His prices are great.

I was referred to Freddy’s by Mike Sr. at McMillen’s garage. Initially I was supposed to talk to Felix, but since Felix was busy… Miguel helped me. I explained my dilemma (car stalls at red lights and stops, but works fine when it is accelerating or moving), and Miguel pulls my car into the garage and investigates the codes and engine.
Miguel confirms what Mike Sr. at McMillen’s assumed, that it was indeed the EGR valve. But after taking the EGR valve apart, Miguel says there is no need to replace it but shows me where the issue is. Apparently a piece of carbon solidified and was jammed up in the EGR valve. So it just needed to be cleared/​cleaned, and he even had a guy from the local auto parts store bring in an EGR valve filter to avoid this problem from happening again.
Miguel was awesome. He explained the issue, told me how he was going to fix it and advised me of the costs. The costs were way less than what I thought it would be, because we didn’t have to replace the EGR valve… but just clean it. He also told me I had other emissions codes that could wait, but if I am due for a smog, I should go get them fixed when I could afford it. He did not try to upsell me or anything.

I was referred to Freddy’s by another repair shop which I prefer. I needed a charcoal canister replaced in my 1999 Corolla and had the part with me. Felix quoted me a very reasonable rate to do the work. I went on a Saturday mid-​morning and was immediately attended to. It took Felix less than an hour to get the part replaced and even offered to reset the CEL light. My SMOG test was due a couple of days later and passed with no problems.
I would gladly head back to Freddy’s if there was work that needed done on my car. They are very honest and judging by the cleanliness of the work place very organised.
