AAMCO Transmissions

Upon taking my vehicle in for repairs for transmission leak the facility caused an oil leak to which they attempted to repair with a new gasket and a ton of silcone… Not even 24 hours after having car the car began to have a puddle of oil underneath it. After taking to another company and spending more money they correctly fixed the car. after speaking to aamco corporate facility they dared not deny the shop did shody work but expected me to have taken back to have it worked again and hopefully repaired.
Be forewarned while they will gladly work on your car and keep it for days on end and will be very nice about it, and find out what’s wrong, you might then have to take car elsewhere to correct a repair and they will not cover costs even if facility isn’t open to return to the day it begins issues.
I understand issues can happen especially with older cars but why would anyone take a car back somewhere to have it fixed even under warranty if they caused the issue attempted to fix issue and failed.

We worked with Mike to get the check engine light fixed on my daughter’s Jetta so we could have it inspected. $ 3000 later the check engine light is still on. We still cannot get the car inspected and overall Mike kept the car about 15 days. First time 3 days, second time 2 days, and this last time 10 days. We were constantly lied to about the progress being made on the car repairs. Mike kept telling us they were running parameters. Mike never once returned a phone call when he said he would. We attempted to pick the car up and the shop closed 15 minutes early at 5:45 P.M. and was dark. When we asked him about it the next working day Mike lied right to my wife’s face and told her he was there until 6:30 P.M. When he told us the car was out for a test drive we arrived to find it on the rack with two tires off, again more lies. I would recommend no one ever do business with this person or this company. BUYER BEWARE!

took my truck in to figure out why it was running so bad, dan told me to leave it with him and he would let me know in a couple of hours what was wrong with it.
Dan called and told me what the problem was and the cost to fix it. when i picked it up, ran way better then when i dropped it off. Strongley reccomond this place. they do a lot besides transmissions. thanks guys, great job

Stay away! My husband’s Explorer felt like it was jerking when it switched gears, so we took it to AAMCO for a free estimate. Dan said they did a diagnostic and they couldn’t find what was wrong, and they needed to remove the transmission, which cost $ 800. A few days and a few calls from my husband later, he called back to say that we needed our transmission rebuilt and it was going to cost around $ 3,000. My husband said no way, put it back in. It took a week from that call to the time we actually got our car back. In the meantime, my husband called to check when it would be ready and he was told «probably tomorrow morning» three different times. The last time he was told that, he called the following morning and asked if it was ready and they said they were just finishing it up. We showed up an hour later and they said it would just be a few more minutes, so I dropped my husband off and went to work. He was there for another 2 hours before it was ready.
Total time and cost: close to two weeks and $ 800
Repairs: None
We took the car to another transmission repair shop and the guy said the computer says there’s not a problem with the transmission, the issue was two of the eight ignition coils were bad. On top of that, he told us our model Explorer is notorious for having that problem and that anyone who does transmissions would know that. It took a day and $ 200 to repair.
My husband called Dan and asked him why he took the transmission out if the computer wasn’t reading a transmission problem and how they determined he needed $ 3000 in repairs and Dan said «You’re the one who said you had a transmission problem.»
How blatant of a rip off can you get? We contacted our credit card company and AAMCO wasn’t able to provide proof of the computer reading saying there was any transmission issue to begin with, so we got the charges reversed. They would have had a readout to show that the problem was a misfire in the ignition coils and not the transmission at all, just like the shop we took it to afterward did.

The check engine light was on in my hybrid. I stopped in and Dan greeted me warmly and offered to find out the problem for free. When he discovered that it was the hybrid battery pack that was under warranty with the dealership, he assisted in finding a tow service to the dealership. Although I did not spend a penny, I greatly appreciated the honesty. I will be bringing any of my future auto repairs to this shop

I’ve had my oil changes and brakes done here before and they always got me in and out Fast! When I needed my 60K service done, they did it for way less than what the dealership wanted and were great about working with my schedule! Thanks for another great job!
