Dr. Rubaum has been in practice here a long time, 1979 to be exact, and he is very knowledgeable and he takes the time to go through your test results and explain the findings, which isn’t something most doctors do for their patients. He is old-school and his voice is a bit loud when he speaks, so some people might not feel comfortable, which I sense in several of these reviews. However, he does seem to care about his patients and he does seem to want to help. When I arrived he even handed me copies of my lab work and CT-scan of my sinuses, so he could go over everything with me. My only concern was being told that I was not a candidate for nasal surgery because of an operation I had to correct an OVERBITE in June 1989. That surgery left me with metal wires/screws on three sides of my jaws(had lower left screws removed due to nerve damage) and an implant under my nose. Dr. Rubaum stated because of this I could not undergo surgery to correct mucosal thickening, polyposis of the inferior turbinates, and rightward nasal septal deviation. I have suffered with chronic sinusitis for years and because of complications arising from the 1989 surgery I have avoided having nasal surgery at all costs, but I cannot breathe very well and it has prompted me to seek a remedy. The lab work came back NEGATIVE on all classes — which means I DONOT have any allergies. It is his belief that my issues stem from the 1989 operation. His recommendation is Claritin-D for two months to see if the medication will shrink the mucosal thickening and turbinates, so that I will be able to receive more oxygen and not continue having so much daily drainage. Dr. Rubaum also stated I should continue to be cautious with all cleaning products and anything that could be breathed into my sinus passages, which could cause the turbinates to increase in size and further cause blockage. Overall, I feel he is thorough and enjoys his profession. I really dislike taking medication, but I dislike having my face cut on even more, so I am opting to follow his recommendation. Perhaps, I might seek a second opinion on the inability to undergo nasal surgery due to the implant, etc. I will follow-up with an update sometime in July 2016, once we have given this medication time to do its work.

The best doctor you can find in town in regards to diagnosis and knowledge. He listens to the patient and tells the issue on the spot. I recommend this doctor to anyone who has problem with any part of the body related to his knowledge to visit him and get his opinion.

If you need a doctor who has seen it all then go to Dr. Rubaum. I went to Dr. Rubaum by referral and so glad I did. It’s nice to find a doctor who has as much knowledge as Dr. Rubaum and will talk to you like a person… not another insurance payment. I would recommend Dr. Rubaum.
