Katie has an impeccable eye for design and interpreted our vision flawlessly. I was even unsure of some elements of our design, and I gave her ideas and told her to run with it — we met for a trial, did not meet for the second time (which is usually what she recommends) and communicated by email with her and her partner/​assistant April, and everything turned out fantastic! I sent her my Pinterest boards and she certainly paid attention, and created the most beautiful bouquets I have ever seen, and they smelled amazing! I wish I could have preserved my bouquet, but we were leaving for our honeymoon, so we decided to hang it to dry instead. It still smells lovely! We used her for personal flowers and for the ceremony/​chuppah décor, but decided to book a different vendor in downtown LA for the centerpieces to save a bit — but we knew that she nailed it for the personals and it was absolutely worth it! She is also such a dear and I loved getting to talk with her :) Thank you Katie and April for being so sweet, for truly listening to what I wanted and for using your own creative expertise to interpret my general vision into something more beautiful than I ever could have created or dreamed!

Katie was wonderful! She is so sweet and has great energy. I really liked her from the first meeting I had with her. I could tell from the get-​go that she really enjoyed what she did and that she was a creative person. The flowers were beautiful for our wedding. It was everything I imagined and more. Katie is one of the nicest, sweetest, warmest people you will ever meet. My first meeting with her was on a Sunday at her Redondo Beach home, and even though you could tell she was extremely busy, she was relaxed and spent an abundance of time creating with me.
Her prices are competitive if not cheaper than most, and you can tell she really is passionate about what she does for a living. When choosing a florist for your wedding, I think it’s important to see their past work that they have done at your venue and also if your venue recommends the florist. If you are getting married at La Venta, Katie is just down the hill and has done countless weddings at La Venta, so I knew I could trust her as a vendor. She also was creative with helping me cut costs and re-​purpose florals to save money.
My only minor critique is that I am a big e-​mailer and she is not, but she or someone at Stems is always reachable by phone during their normal business hours (and I hate talking on the phone at work! haha).

Katie did a wonderful job providing my family with flowers for my father’s funeral service. I thought that someone else in my family had made arrangements for flowers. When I found out that no flowers were ordered I called Katie the afternoon before the service. She was very busy but still managed to give us exceptional service and beautiful flowers and centerpieces for the reception.

I called upon Katie for my Redondo Beach wedding flower arrangements. Not only is Katie creative and talented with putting creations together, but she’s also super cool and fun to talk to! All I had to do was show her a few pictures ahead of time and she pulled various flowers for our meeting and effortlessly put together my dream bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, centerpieces and pulled up a picture of my dream arch arrangement. She knew all the right questions to ask that I hadn’t even thought of yet and has great ideas of how to save some cash (like moving the elaborate arch arrangement to the cake table after the ceremony, using my bouquet on the sweetheart table as a centerpiece, etc.). Thank you Nai for assisting Katie on my wedding day flowers! They were beautiful and one of my favorite parts!

We are so happy we used Katie for our wedding at Verandas Beach House. She really is such an easy person to work with and oh so talented. She really listened to our ideas and was open to my idea of using lanterns I had purchased for florals and candles. She made the process easy by providing beautiful samples once we had met the first time and shared ideas so we could actually see what our flowers would look like. She picked some of the most beautiful flowers within our color scheme and really used original things making for perfect florals at our wedding. The use of the lanterns with her florals were such an amazing touch and made an already great venue outstanding. We also chose a cake that had tons of fresh flowers on it and she did not disappoint with that either. It truly was stunning. The day was absolutely beautiful and we truly believe Katie and the florals she did for us made it that way. We are so happy we chose her and would recommend anyone looking for the best florals to contact her first and look no further. Thank you Katie!

Truth be told,
I wanted to work with Katie because of the 5-​star reviews and creative arrangements on her website. Unfortunately, working with Katie was a disappointment from the very beginning. She’s a friendly and outgoing person and was able to pull ideas for me. That was a point, but following the appointment she did not provide an invoice so that I could budget. I emailed and called and no response until less than a week before my wedding. Mind you, my wedding was planned in a month, but I was definitely put to the back burner. Every time I called her employee would tell me she would be in the next day and to call then. So frustrating! When she finally emailed the invoice the price was staggering so I had to make some changes. Communication made things incredibly difficult to plan around her. The cherry on top was asking for flowers for the flower girls and getting zero zip when my husband went to go pick them up. The flowers for the flower girl crowns were falling off, and some of the arrangements were wilting… so awful.
It was a small wedding, so I’m pretty sure bigger profit took precedent. Still, I was left so unsatisfied and disappointed.

My husband and I would like to thank Katie for the amazing flower arrangements she and her team put together for our wedding at Verandas Beach house in Manhattan Beach.
Katie was recommended by our photographer Meredith at Zoom Theory. When I first met with Katie she was very professional and has great communication skills. I felt very confident in her ability to create exactly what we envisioned our flower arrangements look like. The next time we met she took some of my ideas and brought them to life with samples of what the table settings, boutonnieres etc. would look like. She gave me some suggestions but really listened to what my vision was.
The ceremony flowers were just the right touch to help create the atmosphere for special moments. The mason jars with flower arrangements along the isle seats and the large arrangements at the ceremony front area were beautiful. The flower girls had a great time carrying their baskets and throwing out petals and the boys enjoyed carrying the single rose.
The center pieces for the tables during the reception were exquisite and complimented the design of the tables. Our sweetheart table looked awesome with just the right amount of beautiful flowers
Upstairs for the entertainment/​lounge area, the succulents in the glass containers with the blue light were perfect for the lounge feel, just like we had envisioned. Our wedding cake was very tastefully decorated with the periwinkle flowers.
Our boutonnieres, corsages and bouquets were very tasteful, not too big and not too small. The color popped with our white tuxes as well as the black dresses and tuxes that were worn by our grooms-​maids and groomsmen.
We heard many of our guests complimenting the flower arrangements and wanting to take them home. We did give many of them to our families and later saw them sitting on their dining room tables and coffee tables for decoration.
We would recommend Katie and her team to anyone that wants beautiful flowers to add to their special day, she delivers exactly what you envision. She has been a great pleasure to work with. Thank you Katie!

I recently had my wedding reception at the Trump National Golf Club and I wanted a florist who was close and in PV. When I found Katie’s website, I was immediately drawn to it (yes, I am one of those consumers who will judge by a website), it was whimsical and romantic and I just had to call! My husband and I had fun meeting Katie and going over our «vision» — Katie was so patient with us, as I came with a pretty vague, non-​existent vision, I basically said I wanted purple but had no idea of any other details! Haha. I LOVE supporting small businesses, I love the flexibility, the non-​stuffiness, the ease of communication. Katie was a pleasure to work with. The final product that she put together was gorgeous, the choice of flower, the colors, everything was perfect! It was the perfect touch to a perfect day! I highly recommend!

Katie was recommended to me by my photographer (Zoom Theory) and I am SO HAPPY that I found her! She was an absolute pleasure to work with along the way and really connected with my vision for my wedding day — which made the process so much more fun! I came to her with a lot of clippings from Pinterest and together we shared ideas. Katie does a full trial with you from ringbearer boutonnieres to table centerpieces so there are no surprises on your wedding day (this also helps to talk through costs/​budget, swap out certain flowers if they’re on the more expensive side, etc). Even though we had done the trial beforehand, I was still BLOWN AWAY by the beauty of it all on my actual wedding day (it literally brought tears to my eyes). The flowers were soooooo romantic and luscious — my guests commented on the beauty of it all. I also found some extra decorative vessels the week before my wedding that I wanted to throw some florals into and Katie was super flexible and accommodating (said she’d have some extra flowers on hand day of).
All in all, I cannot express how HAPPY I am to have found Katie and to have had STEMS do my wedding flowers. Our bouquets were AMAZING, centerpieces beautiful, classy and not over the top (I wanted something that people could actually see themselves over! ;) — and just every individual flower in absolute perfect condition oozing romance. I wish I could have her flowers in my house all year long!!!

I highly recommend my florist! She was amazing and did such a great job that all my guests couldn’t stop talking about the flowers! She met with me multiple times and we talked about our options. We had a trial run where she ordered all the possible flowers we had discussed and together we made «trial» bouquets for both myself and the bridesmaids. It really helped to actually see the flowers and get a feel for what they would like all together. Her prices are very reasonable as well. She’s also very laid back and easy to talk to, which is great, especially if you’re not completely sure about what you may want. Her end product was better than anything I could have imagined!

I am a florist from Texas, so I am very picky when it comes to others doing flowers for me, but I was extremely pleased with the arrangement my father and his wife received for their anniversary.
They just raved and raved about it. Which says a lot since they have been around flowers for quite a while.
Staff was very friendly and helpful AND tolerant since like I said, I’m picky!

Kate is amazing!!!
After having a horrible experience with another florist, my photographer from Zoomtheory suggested this florist. Oh and may I mention that I approached Kate to do my wedding 3 weeks before my wedding. I wouldn’t recommend that to anyone but she was willing and so helpful in my crunch for time. When I met her for my consultation, she and I vibed immediately and she understood me. I am not very good at explaining visual things with words but she was able to pull from what I said and propose some great designs.
Our budget was a little tight but she was able to work with it. I will have to post photos because she did a GREAT job!
I love how she did the samples… she didn’t pre-​make them but she pulled the flowers that I said I wanted and then we had fun and played around with different flower combos and colors. Saves us both time and from getting a headache.
Kate is professional, smart, CREATIVE, a visionary and friendly and she literally saved my ass in a tough situation!

I have known Katie and her work for many years. First, I would buy plants and flowers from her darling shop in Malaga Cove. Then I decided to get married in my hometown outside of Philadelphia (3000 miles from Katie’s shop…) and was truly blessed that she was up for the adventure to do the flowers all the way across the country.

Ever enthusiastic and up for anything, Katie was up for the challenge of an East Coast wedding and working with our local Philadelphia wholesaler. As the time came to plan our flowers, while we were still both in California, Katie patiently spoke with me, my fiancé and my sister to help bring our personality to the wedding flowers. It was amazing to see her vision come to life.
A few weeks before the wedding, Katie made a sample bouquet so I could see our plans in action. It was stunning. Then the week of the wedding, Katie arrived in Philadelphia rearing to go. She did a gorgeous job transforming the art center where we got married into a sea of pinks and oranges. It was the perfect color palette against the sprawling green grass and the lush trees.
With style and grace, Katie made endless amount of centerpieces, ceremony arrangements, aisle décor, boutonnières, corsages and hairpieces. She even managed to finish in time to be a very special guest of the wedding, part of the ceremony and a hit on the dance floor.
When you work with Katie, just know that your personality plus Katie’s brilliant vision will combine to make your wedding flowers truly beautiful in every way.

Cannot say enough good things about Katie and her staff at Stems! After seeing the work they had done for a close friend’s wedding, I knew in a heartbeat that I wanted Katie to do my wedding. Her creativity and artistry is amazing! After meeting with her to brainstorm colors and combinations, we came up with ideas for some of the most beautiful arrangements for the wedding.
Katie was very through and kept in constant contact with me throughout the whole journey. She went above and beyond to get the flowers I wanted and on the day of the event, delivery and set up went smoothly. I received many compliments on the flowers that day. So many guests took home the arrangements on the tables and commented on how long the flowers lasted even after the wedding. Of course my favorite arrangement was my own bouquet! So wonderful! My wife went to Stems a month before our wedding because our original florists bailed on us. Kate, the store owner, was more than accommodating. She quickly caught our vision for the wedding and came up with some creative, beautiful and budget friendly ideas. Day of delivery was on time, professional she even drove to where the men were getting ready to help the men pin on their flowers. After we left the wedding, guest were given bags or vases to take some flowers home. We heard that everyone was ecstatic to have an arrangement for themselves. Oh and my wife was obsessed with her bouquet. She carried it around all day and it’s in practically every picture. Very pleased.

Where to begin… On one of the biggest days of your life you want everything to be perfect. You need someone you can count on. Katie is the one. She went above and beyond with the flowers for my wedding. From the cake table to the wedding arch it was GORGEOUS! She really knows her flowers!!! I spoke about my vision with her prior to the wedding and she instantly got it and made my dream a reality. Katie is extremely talented and a delight to work with. I highly recommend her.

Tucked into a small cubby in Malaga Cove in Palos Verdes, Stems is run by its owner, Katie, which means your flower arrangements have that personal touch and extra attension. So far it seems Stems is flourishing (pun intended) on word of mouth and local foot traffic, but slowly more and more people are discovering Katie
I was lucky enough to have Katie do flowers for my wedding last year (which was in Philadelphia, PA mind you), and we could not have been happier. Katie loves what she does and it shows in her work.
This Valentines Day I drove all the way from Culver City, just to get my wife flowers from Stems. She loved them and they lasted about three weeks!

This place is awesome! The shop is adorable – little more than a nook tucked into beautiful Malaga Cove Plaza, but the proprietor, Kate, works magic despite the shop’s diminutive size. Kate is a florist with a real passion for what she does. Not only does she love flowers and working with them – she also loves working with people. She is professional, welcoming, friendly, and her client’s happiness is her number one priority.
My boyfriend got me a gorgeous orchid from Stems for Valentine’s day – Kate helped him to pick out something that I would love. It was nicely potted with moss and some lovely greenery. He also got me a bouquet for my birthday – she worked with him to pick out things I love in my favorite colors – blue and yellow. And since he had to pick it up the night before so he could give them to me on my bday morning, she put individual water tube/​bud vase things on the ends of each flower and gave him a bucket so he could keep them watered and fresh overnight (whilst hidden) – this is the kind of stuff that shows that Kate really goes the extra mile to make her customers happy!
