History
Established in 1929.
The Palos Verdes Library District is a nationally recognized, award-winning library system serving all four cities on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula. We collaborate with our community to create environments for learning and inspiration, and to share the unique history of the Peninsula. PVLD is an independent special district governed by a publicly elected Board of Trustees.
Malaga Cove Library is a gorgeous building in classic California Mediterranean style surrounded by parks and lawn and wild roaming peacocks. Built in 1929, it was the first library in the district and is on the National and State Registers of Historic Places. It has a movie theater (now non-operational) that doubled as an art gallery, a garden, reading rooms with fireplaces and vault for securing valuables.
