SMALLPORTIONS and over-priced. Do not come here if you want to spend $ 17 on just Thai Iced Tea and Pad Thai. I’d rather go to Chi Tung than come here. The Pad Thai was just OK; I’ve experienced better. The noodles were clumped together and the sauce tasted cheap. On the other-hand, the Thai Iced Tea is way too sugary. Overall, I will not come here again. The owner is crazy for charging over-priced on simple dishes that can be sought elsewhere much cheaper with BIGGER portions. Save your money and go over to Chi Tung. Yea, the waiting may be iffy, but hey, at least you’ll eat like a king and get your money’s worth.

spy thai is very simple family owned business. me and my fiancée like supporting small business in the area. especially spy thai because this place has a very sentimental value for us. this is the place we had our first date. anyway the food still taste good as usual the pad thai is the best the sauce is very authentic and has alot of flavor, although the portion size has been decreased so we are really dissapointed with that but anyway the chicken with brocolli is also good those are our go to dishes here. maybe skip the appetizers portion size is not right for the price. maybe they are cutting edges here. but I really want this restaurant to keep on going. we will still visit from time to time if we pass by the area. hopefully next time the portion size will come back to normal.

The food is avg Thai. I order from here time to time and I must say I hardly come here due to the service. The owner who waits on you is money hungry and will find a way to get more out of you. If you order rice on the side she charge 4.00 extra!!! WTF. If you use a coupon she will deny it. Thai smile is down the street and they will take care of you. It’s a shame because I really want businesses in Palos to succeed.

I hope no one comes here for their first taste of Thai! First time here and will not be returning. The pad Thai as other reviewers have said was tasteless and very cheaply made. No veggies, the noodles clumped together, and very dry. Worst of all it was $ 14!!! They are very overpriced. We ordered red curry, green curry, fried rice, and pork and chicken stir fry. We were a group and all the food came out and different times and we all had to eat separately! 2 stars for the owners attentiveness but that’s pretty much it!

Stopped in recently and tried the Pad Thai Chicken lunch special. Got a scalding hot cup of bland egg drop soup, a bland mini egg roll, and probably the worst(bland) Pad Thai I’ve ever had. The Pad Thai was spicy as hell(as requested), but it was simply flavorless. A sprinkling of crushed peanuts and a sliver of carrot was all that graced my lifeless dish(see pic). No eggs, no green onion, no other accoutrement. Service was slow and inattentive, and dare I say cold. Aside from dropping off food and a can of pop, we had no interaction. A Thai restaurant that can’t make Pad Thai… yeah. I didn’t try them, but my co-diner said the crab rangoons sucked. Bland(again) and hardly any filling. Live and learn I guess. No more Spy Thai for us.

Excellent food loved the atmosphere and the chicken green curry. I would also recommend the combination appetizer it’s delicious as well great for a date or eating alone, the service is also very good and it’s obvious they appreciate you patronage.

Delicious Thai food and great menu. I have never dined-in, only ordered for carry-out. The staff is friendly and the food does not take too long to prepare. The chicken pot stickers are fantastic. I always order those as an appetizer. I generally order Chicken Pad Thai as an entrée. If they ask how spicy I want it I say«mild», because one time I ordered«medium» and that was way too spicy, considering I usually like spicy food. The fried rice is also very good. Everything tastes nice and fresh.

I loved this restaurant. The owner is very nice and attentive. They have great food for great prices and their lunch specials during the week are top notch. The pad thai is my favorite thing on the menu. I also really enjoy their thai iced tea. It is really tasty! Another positive thing is you can pick how hot you want your food from 1 to 10. This is great when I go out with my boyfriend because I can get 1(not a fan of super spicy food) and he can get a 8(he LOVES spicy food). They can tailor make it to the customer.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and i5 definitely met our expectations. It was the first time me and my fiancé have ever tried Thai food and now we love it! We both like different types of food and so Cindy was very helpful in helping us choose our meals. The atmosphere of this place is also very warm and we definitely will be coming back.

Food is always excellent and Cindy is very friendly and nice! Only place we have found in southwest burbs that even comes close to good city Thai restaurants. Love the Green Curry Chicken and the Drunken Noodles! Great for a nice, quiet dinner in the restaurant and also for carry out to take home.

Addicted to the food! Cindy is wonderfully helpful; I always know what I want, but if you don’t, just ask, she will help you find something that will fit what you’re looking for. The Nom Tuc is Great! If you have a cold, try the Tom Yum soup or Tom Yum Noodle soup… they will both work their magic. Love the Sticky Rice and Custard or Mango if they’re in season and my daughter loves the fried bananas.

Great Thai food. I’ve dined here a couple of times. Their chicken fried rice, pad thai noodles, red curry chicken, pot stickers, and chicken satay were excellent. The pad thai noodles were a little too hot for my liking, but still enjoyable. And I washed it all down with the Thai Iced Tea. The owner is pleasant and the place is cozy for a couple dinner date.

I LOVE this place! I’ve been going for a few years now. Honestly, if I weren’t Asian I can see how it might not be what one was looking for in a thai restaurants. Many thai places serve the same stuff and it’s not even authentic — such as a lot of Chinese carry-out places that Americans like to eat at. However, Spy Thai is not only good, they have a wide range of authentic dishes. My favorites are chicken pad sator and larb. Her spicy catfish and lime tilapia is really good as well! I also love spicy food and the great thing is that if I say I want spicy number 10, that’s truly what I’ll get. Overall, I love the food. I love the authenticity. And I love that they truly respect the spicy!

How many ways can you spell bad… this place is bad, it is expensive, it has no flavor, it has weird flavored, it looks weird, …no veggies or peanuts in pad Thai, noodles were like glue, sauce tasted like it was from Aldis, …chicken basil rice, really… where was the basil, maybe one piece. Never ever again. Go downtown for Thai, it is the real deal.

One of the best authentic local Thai food restaurants around. I always come for the nom tuk(sp). Try the Thai iced tea if you never had it before. Makes a good non alcoholic cold drink. The pad Thai noodles are amazing. And they have a very good fired tofu appetizer. Sure the interior is dated and small, but the place has a nice cozy atmosphere. The owner is often the server and waitress too! Say hello, she likes to talk. Come to this little gem and discover an amazing tantalizing food sensation. Don’t forget to bring your own beer!

Love it! My family really loves the food. Cindy the owner takes great pride in her food and treats her customers like a great owner should. Try the green curry fish with kale.

There are few things I love more than sharing the Spy Thai experience with friends or family! The owner Cindy works hard to make you feel right at home with food that’s always fresh and made-to-order, so it’s easy to feel proud to have a place you know to sit, relax, and enjoy exquisite food with others. It’s BYOB too, which is an outstanding feature. That said, I’ve had almost every item on the menu, save for a few items reserved for more adventurous or cultured Thai food aficionados. Every one of them has been enjoyable; my favorites are listed below. Many dishes feature a healthy portion of fresh veggies, black mushrooms, fresh basil and savory Thai seasonings. Feel free to try fish here if you like, too… I’ve *never* found it to have that fishy taste or smell. You’ll probably be asked, «How spicy — scale 1 to 10?» to pick out how spicy you’d like your dish made. While it’s not an exact science, I haven’t had a «10» before. «8» is really spicy and usually what I go for. Most folks are comfortable with a «3» or «4». Top Recommendations: * Pan-Fried Gui Chai appetizer — do not miss this chive-filled delight with crispy dumpling exterior! * Tom Kha Soup — delicious with chicken, and has a ginger-cousin called«galangal» which brings a unique flavor. * Pad Thai Noodles — Traditionally made but with lots of veggies as above and peanut garnish. * Panang Noodles — similar to green curry but usually with a heartier sauce. * Woon Sen Noodles — thin, «crystal» noodles in a light brown sauce, again with lots of fresh vegetables. * Half Duck — Just like it sounds; it’s a deep-fried duck leg, thigh, and breast, and comes with a spicy dipping sauce. * Tilapia Tamarind — perfectly cooked fish every time! Comes with a sweet and spicy tamarind sauce across the top of the filet. Don’t forget to order a Thai Custard or homemade coconut ice cream for dessert!

Best Thai food in the Chicagoland area in my opinion. Really nice owner too. I love their pad see ew, and my husband always enjoys the red curry duck. We first went here days before our wedding 3 years ago, and are happy every time we return.

Portions are SUPER small. Food is halfway decent but to be honest not as good as Thai smile down the street. Plus all of our dishes came out at different times like I got my salad at least 15 minutes before everyone so that was awkward. Fried rice ridiculously salty and pepper steak under seasoned and super tough. It’s byob though so that’s a plus.

Tucked away in a strip mall, you may never know this place exists. Went last night with a group of 10 — which took up ½ the restaurant. The resaturant is small, bright, clean, and casual. The owner and her daughter were there — and both so friendly. Service was top notch. This is a BYOB with no corkage fee — bonus! All the food was fresh & flavorful. I had green curry chicken, and I love spicy. The owner asked me on a scale of 1 – 10, what number. I chose 8. Eight is very, very, very spicy — but the flavor still shines through. My friend ordered his food at level 7 and he could not eat it — he was sweating(big baby!). All the portions were good size. The only dish that was not good was a fried sausage dish with rice and brocolli — it was very, very dry. My friend had hem put sauce on it, but still couldn’t eat it. They apologized and did not charge her for the dish. Great customer service! Everyone ordered appetizers to share and all were really good. I would recommend coming here with a group and a bottle of wine. I’m a fan!
