It’s little pricey and not enough food to satisfying my little tummy. Not my kind of place. Maybe be people with money to spend.

I was impressed about everything here.
The food and wine They recommended us were excellent! We placed 5 appetizers to share with our coworkers. The price range is a bit expensive but you would not regret to come this restaurant. I would definitely come back here and try again;)

Definitely worth the price, so if you’re thinking special night out or special Tuesday, a great time will be had.
Like other Unilocalers, we fell in love with the Hamachi Shots. Great flavor with a fun presentation.
If you are not a fan of urchin/​uni or strong fish flavors in general, don’t get it. I love it, but that being said, while it was delicious, I also didn’t think it a special dish.
I got the John Dory, which was great, super light and delicious. Everything, including any remnants of the sauce were scrapped from my plate.
Our server Maria was so much fun. She graciously joined me in trying to figure out if other tables were on dates or friendzoned. When I asked for a pairing option for my dory, she offered me two choices, and let me wait for the food to come out before making my final selection, which meant I got my full glass and my date got to enjoy my reject but still delicious glass.
I had the nutella latte, which was good, but nothing to write home to.
The night ended with shortbread cookies, a raspberry gelee, and bubble gum cotton candy.
And then it was extended with a banana ice cream, graham cracker, fruit liquid filled ball of glory dish that my partner and I could have easily fought over.
Great night, and we’ll be back!

I was excited to dine here for our anniversary. Hubby and I normally go to Alexander’s in Cupertino, and I wanted to try something different this year. Service was ok… maybe cuz we came in early on a Sunday and they had their c team serving on Sundays. Our table was really wobbly so I asked to move. The table we moved to was still really wobbly so our server said she would put wedges under the legs of the table… kinda awkward when she was on her hands and knees when they could have just moved us to a booth. It was a little off-​putting when our server told us she was distracted and not herself today. We had to ask for the bread several times. Hamachi shots were good as always. I ordered the mero, which was very good but all I could taste was the bacon that accompanied it. Hubby ordered the steak… oh and they forgot to give him a steak knife. Truffle fries were really salty. For dessert, we ordered the butterscotch crème brûlée. They lit it so it was flaming when they set it down, but we weren’t sure if we had to blow it out or wait until it died down. Didn’t matter cuz it was very bitter and not very good-couldn’t finish the whole thing. At least my drink was good!
I would give this place another shot, only if it was on someone else’s dime. But I think next time we’ll stick with Alexander’s in Cupertino.

Came here to celebrate a birthday and mother’s day! The staff goes out of their way here to make you feel special! We started my mother off with the Cougar Juice, a yummy cocktail. Then enjoyed Lobster Rocks (Lobsters in Squid Ink), and the Hamachi shots (my favorite almost every I’ve had it).
For the main, I had the Lobster. Now the Lobster is pricey, but you’re not just getting the body of a lobster on top of a shell like most places do, but it is a full on ALL the meat, including the claws. I chose the lobster thinking I could easily finish it, but nope, ended up taking half home! The other big hit was the Seared Mero (Sea bass with bacon, rutabaga, cabbage, and balsamic vinegar).
And of course, cotton candy for everyone to enjoy!

Drove 141 miles from Roseville to dine here at The Sea by Alexander’s Steakhouse in Palo Alto. It is a very (very) expensive restaurant, making it a special occasion spot as I am here for a surprise birthday party celebration for a good friend. We had a private banquet room in a modern setting. It included an outdoor patio deck where we could relax and have our drinks. It was a nice outdoor setting. This review is for the food and service we received in one of the conference center banquet rooms.
For appetizers we were served hamachi shots! What are they, you say? Well, they are a mix of ginger, scallion, red jalapeño, sesame seeds, avocado, truffle oil, and micro wasabe beans mixed in ponzu sauce (sherry wine, soy sauce, and wine juice and hamachi. Hamachi is a type of fish). I was hesitant to try it but I ended up not only trying it but liking it and had seconds! We also had rounds of spicy chicken karaage, and cocktail prawns, I didn’t try the karaage as I didn’t like spicy foods. These were served on the outdoor patio.
Inside the banquet room our dinner was a four-​course prix fixe meal. which included crab salad (avocado, mango & quinoa), a lobster tomato soup as a second course (tenkasu, chives, and crème fraîche). For the main course we were served filet mignon and sea bass combo (demi-​glacé /​brussels sprouts and basil oil) with sides of haricot vert and mashed potatoes. Haricot vert is just a fancy name for string beans! LoL! My filet mignon was cooked just right and the certified angus beef was tender, tasty and juicy. Our dessert came in the form of a chocolate sponge cake and a seasonal fruit sorbet, which I liked a lot! Yum!
The staff was great and very professional. They were efficient in serving our food and clearing our table. The banquet room was a nice size and fit the 50 guests nicely leaving room for a live band setup and a dance floor. The food was not only presented beautifully well and pleasing to the eyes but was also delicious (which is more important). Most of them were quite foreign to my taste buds but once it hit my mouth I fully enjoyed my tasty meal. The food was classic American steakhouse with hints of Japanese influence mixed into the menu. Everything was presented as what you would expect from a high end restaurant. Great experience.

Sit at the bar, ask for Ryan, he’s the best.

We came here for our anniversary dinner. We ordered the shorter tasting menu and everything was delicious. I was full halfway in… mostly because I ate 4 of the sesame (and seaweed?) croissants that they brought out before your first course. The croissant was so incredibly good.
While they have a private lot, once when I came here for a work function, the lot was full.

While I still wasn’t wow-​ed on my second visit here, I did have a much better experience here than the first. My Heart still belongs to Alexander’s Steakhouse SF
I would definitely suggest a seat in the main dining room with a view of the kitchen. Usually I prefer sitting away from the kitchen due to the noisiness and commotion, but this main dining room has way better ambiance than the side rooms.
If you have tried the hamachi shots at the steakhouses, most likely you will not like it here since the recipe is quite different. They seem to over lemon and truffle oil the shots here which gives it a totally different flavor than the SF location, where they use a ponzu sauce instead.
The service here is pretty decent, we might come back again if we are in the area.

to cap off a wonderful saturday birthday, my husband brought me here for a celebration dinner. i’d had my eye on this restaurant for quite some time, so i was quite excited that we were able to get a reservation for a saturday evening.
to start, i ordered the «cougar juice» ($ 15) which had two of my favourite ingredients: lychee and st. germaine elderflower liqueur. now, i hadn’t had an alcoholic drink in over a year (since alcohol has adverse effects on my running), but i felt the need to treat myself. the cougar juice was awesome, and so appropriate considering my age! nah, my hubby is older than me, but i think some women my age probably like the younger dudes and would appreciate this drink!
hubby had a «happy ending,» ($ 8) draft beer, how appropriate for him given how much he likes his «male» jokes and innuendos!
we were given complimentary bread which included a croissant, flatbread with cracked pepper, olive bread, and white sourdough bread. i didn’t need any butter to make this bread taste good, each slice/​piece tasted great on its own!
before our appetizer came out, we were given a small amuse bouche in the form of a salmon popover, little bites of fish inside a soft doughy mini-​roll. this was yummy and definitely prepped my taste buds for the rest of the meal!
for an appetizer, we chose the endive frisee salad ($ 15) to share, which was a base of frisee greens, garnished with endive and white asparagus, sprinkled with black rice which resembled dried seaweed, with earl grey vinaigrette on the side. the salad was ok, but i absolutely LOVED the earl grey dressing as it had notes of earl grey tea with vinegar and some other spices that made it savory and just a lil’ bit sweet.
to supplement our mains, we ordered a side of wild mushrooms ($ 12) which was a very tasty mix of assorted mushrooms in a savory brown sauce, garnished with garlic and chives. i could have ordered another serving of this, but i definitely had to save my stomach for my main!
speaking of which, i had the john dory ($ 44), a white fish from new zealand which the waiter highly recommended, saying that it was one of his favourites. i requested no butter and no additional salt, to keep it somewhat healthy, and they did a wonderful job of seasoning this fish with other condiments and sauces. red peppers and some other veggies complemented the john dory, also making it a very colourful dish! i ate every bite of my fish and veggies, as it was truly delectable and delicious!
my husband went with his usual steak, choosing the ny strip steak ($ 62), medium-​rare, which was accompanied by polenta, tomato compote, and parmesan. his polenta was shaped like jenga blocks, and lightly crusted on the outside, and were delicious (the little bite that i took). he finished every bite of his steak and said that he enjoyed his meal very much.
we were absolutely stuffed and didn’t have room for dessert, but we took a peek at their dessert menu just to see what they had… definitely some interesting, creative names, such as «monkey business» and «sticks & stones.» ah, but next time, perhaps…
although we didn’t order dessert, we were still given a complimentary home-​spun cotton candy, much like the tradition of alexander’s steakhouse. it was super light and we definitely made room for this special treat… i was thinking it was bubblegum, but our waiter told me that it was a watermelon flavoured cotton candy… yum! what a great way to end this scrumptious meal.
the service was absolutely spectacular and spot-​on the entire evening as our waiter, and other staff, were super attentive to each and every detail. we never had to ask for anything as they knew exactly when to come and refill water glasses or remove plates.
i thoroughly enjoyed my birthday dinner here and would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to celebrate a special occasion.

This is a wonderful place to dine and experience$$$$ fine dining. The menu is less expensive than the SF equivalent but the ambience was a bit noisy. You can hear the kitchen handling utensils. The open kitchen design was strange for a fancy place. Has an modern Asian fusion twist to its seafood menu, definitely refreshing, not just the typical steakhouse seafood of lobster and prawns, the beef and steak is quite good totally worth eating.
Beef tataki chilled thin slices of exquisite smoked, marbleized beef was fragrant, chewy and lush. Comes in a bamboo bento box. Quite a presentation that made an impression.
The Maine scallops though pricey $ 49 has more than just 3 (more like 6 – 7) tender close to large size oysters. They were fresh and juicy. Though personally I ordered the Mero, Chilean sea bass it was buttery and rich, not too lean like normal sea bass. It was good. But the coleslaw with bacon was over powering and the veggie terrine sauce was a bit too vinegary and sour for me.
People who like scallops really voted for these dishes.
The certified New York steak was quite good. Medium rare done perfectly tender. There’s also wagyu style (wagyu and angus breed) versus certified 100% wagyu for AQ which we didn’t order since we are here for the seafood but the steak was super high standard
Dish was a decomposed Napoleon more on the creamy side with a moist green tea cake layer. It doesn’t look much or taste much like a Napoleon but Was good for sure.

Remember when you had just finished the fun part of your science fair project — The part where you did the experiment itself and collected the data? And then came the time to write it up and paste everything on the poster board, and suddenly you just lost momentum. Well that’s me and The Sea. It’s so well touted already, has over 600 reviews and 2500+ pix up, what can I say? So here I am almost two weeks later, and I’ve decided to go ahead. I took pix, and, as always, I have something to say.
First time I’ve worn a dress and heels in, well, forever. Big evening to celebrate the closing of a round of financing, and they let me pick the place! 6 of us, with varying degrees of adventurousness and differing palates, The Sea seemed like a good option. We were lucky to snag a parking spot directly across from the front door without having to hand our keys over to the valet. I’m not a fan of having some 18 – 22 year old man I’ve never met before drive my car. The first to arrive, we decided to sit at the bar and have drink. Great space, in fact we liked the venue a lot, except for two things. Because of the barn like design with very high wooden ceilings, there’s lots of ambient noise. Second flaw is the bathrooms are downstairs and down the corridor. Plan accordingly. I wanted the prix fixe, but they only offer it for the table. Oh well, next time I shall have to bring a more gluttonous cadre.

These were very tasty, although I would probably leave off the truffle oil. It didn’t add much, except for pseudo luxury. If you really want to add luxury, shave a truffle! Nice contrasting textures. The jalapenos were quite mild even for a spice wuss like me. I would have liked a little more punch
LOBSTER ROCKS: almond purée, truffle, mitsuba $ 28. 5 stars
chunks of lobster meat dusted with squid ink powder and floured then deep-​fried, they come to the table looking like little lumps of coal. The sweetness of the lobster, earthiness of the truffle combined with the fresh, pungent mitsuba resulted in each note teasing out the other’s best

SEA URCHIN CAULIFLOWER SOUP: cauliflower mushroom, seaweed, chives $ 27. 5 stars
$ 27 is too much to charge for any bowl of soup, but that not withstanding, this was my favorite dish of the night. Incredible texture, richness, and flavor balance. Exquisite
SEARED FOIE GRAS: quince, hazelnut, port wine $ 29. 4 stars
A decent sized portion for appetizer at this price point. I know this is going to sound like splitting hairs, but the scored hatch marks on this were so tiny and close together, it kind of detracted from that good crisp, caramelized livery flavor I love to bite into. Made it seem a little underdone, although to look at it, it seemed a perfect color.
SEARED MERO (WILD HAWAII): bacon, rutabaga, cabbage, balsamic vinegar $ 44. 4 stars
This is the only other dish I tasted, since it was my husbands. I liked the texture of the fish against its crispy skin. I thought the sides were rather an odd pick, assertive flavors to put with such a mild fish

I came here for Valentine’s Day with my bf. I was slightly disappointed to hear that they had a set menu that day but ended up still loving it. They still allowed us to add on a order of Truffle Fries (We had been hearing great things about them for a while about these so couldn’t end up missing).
We had:
+ Bread — Oh man the Sesame croissant was so good! Flaky and tasted exactly like sesame.
+ Amuse-​Bouche: Ahi Tuna sort of sushi looking piece Not bad!
+ Hamachi: I don’t even like Hamachi and these were amazing. Yes listen to everyone else who has ever ate at the Sea. Get the Hamachi. It’s not even a question.
+ Oysters: Kumamoto and another variety. These were so fresh and delicious; ;
+ Baked Clams: Not bad. I wouldn’t get them again though.
+ CLAM CHOWDER: Oh my goodness I just LOVE the crunchy little celery and carrots under the soup. The texture is so amazing. Smooth creamy chowder with the perfect crunch to it.

+ Salmon: I was too full to really enjoy the taste at this point, but it really looks like a piece of steak if you get it seared medium well. They give you a lot though
+ Scallop: Perfectly seared.

The evening begins with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, followed by my usual favorite Hamachi shots… Leading to the Château Montelena Cab (one of my all time favs).
The halibut sashimi so tender that melts in your mouth.
Again, can not deviate from my favorite lobster bake, my friend had the seared Mero and yes it was fabulous indeed!
Did someone say Grand Marnier soufflé? Yes please!

My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate Valentine’s Day a day early this past Saturday. I made reservation through Open Table over a month ago and was able to snag a table for two at 7:45PM. We arrived at 7:20PM and were seated immediately.
One good thing about fancy restaurants is they will give you ample time to enjoy your meal if you make a reservation. There’s no such thing as «please wait while we set up your table.» If you arrive early within a reasonable time, they will be ready for you.
We ordered a dozen oysters, lobster, steak, and drinks. Certain parts of the steak were saltier but it was still delicious. I highly recommend the lobster!
In fact, I recommend you and your date ordering the lobster and steak then split to have a surf and turf!

Very friendly staff and excellent service. Their restroom is a bit tricky. You need to walk towards the end of the opposite side of the restaurant and down a flight of stairs. I asked the waiter where the nearest restroom is and rather than simply giving me directions, he guided me across the restaurant.

If you love, truly love: Lobster Risotto; Uni Stew; Seared Foie Gras; Truffled Hamachi Shots; Crunchy Lobsters; Buttery Mero Sea Bass; 5 big Scallops… You MUST try out The Sea. I was and still am blown away. Best birthday experience thus far! The place is upscale, with a gorgeous bar area to-​die-​for and a huge dining areas. Our server was Maria, she was just awesome! It literally took me 20 min to decide what I wanted to try because everything sounded so good. The menu was tailored to me.
For two people, we had to, just had to order four appetizers. Started out with the Hamachi Shots, I honestly don’t have words to describe the sensations. It smells wonderful and the taste just melts your heart away. Risotto was the best and served with plenty lobster bites. Next, was the seared Foie Gras, I mean if you love this stuff, sold! The Uni… stew, I didn’t even eat the buttery bread, I just drank the juice and killed the endless pieces of floating Uni. The black crunchy lobster, it’s a hefty portion for an appetizers, they all were: superb. The two entrees, by the time that came out, I was already stuffed. But, couldn’t resist the scallops and sea bass. Holy Crap, both plates were huge, cooked to perfect temperature.
I mean this place isn’t inexpensive but compared to any other seafood restaurants in the city and the insane amount of food you get (gorgeous presentation as well). It was well worth it.

We came here to celebrate my husband’s bday and we were extremely happy with our time there. The last three years we have been celebrating at Benu, but they decided to have only tasting menu and the last time we did that we were way too full. So, we found a new place to celebrate and did not have to waddle back to our car.
Rissotto was delicious and Wagyu steak was heavenly. Our plan to not to overeat was thwarted by the freebies they gave us, though. I did not remember them all, but the truffle fries did us in.
Will definifely come back and/​or try other Alexander’s locations.

We came to The Sea by Alexander’s for Mother’s Day. This is my second time dining at an Alexander’s establishment. The restaurant is spacious and modern.
Amuse Bouche — Goat Cheese — YUCK! not a fan!
Truffle Fries — DELICIOUS! Thin, crisp fries with just the right amount of truffle taste. Order it!
Hamachi Shots (6/​$ 24) — Great appetizer! It tasted just like the one at Alexander’s Steakhouse. Hamachi was fresh and there’s an explosion of flavors when you mix the truffled ponzu, avocado, ginger,& jalapeño together. It’s citrusy with a bit of a kick from the jalapeño.
Seared Big Eye Tuna — rear on the inside and nicely seared on the outside. It was good, but I wasn’t WOWed by it.
Seared Mero — The fish was fresh, melted in my mouth, & cooked perfectly. The fried kale that came along with it was very oily. I wish they drained the oil first as it would’ve complimented the fish better.
Seppia Risotto — wood ear mushroom, garlic chive, parmesan cheese– For those of you who don’t know, Seppia is a cuttlefish. The dish was very rich due to the parmesan cheese. Unfortunately, I just thought the dish was «meh» as it lacked flavor.
Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Beef
Wagyu Flat Iron — The plate is pretty plainly presented. 2 good size pieces of steak with the tempura squash on top of the sauce. The steak was just OK, «A» much preferred the steak from Alexander’s in SF as it was one of the best steaks he’s had. I guess he should’ve tried one of their seafood dishes as this restaurant is bias towards that.

The service here is always spectacular. I’m in between a 4 and 4.5 when it comes to The Sea. I like it but I’m unsure if I LOVE it.
My favorite and absolute must every time I come here are the Lobster Rocks. They’re so black that you have no idea what you’re putting in your mouth, but trust me, it’s amazing!
Truffle fries are always good. I love that these are shoe string size and they have a ton of Parmesan cheese on top.
The Lobster Risotto makes me sad. The risotto is hard, and not as creamy as other risottos that I’ve had. I could pass on this dish. But the Seppia Risotto is so good! It’s super creamy and just melts in your mouth. The octopus or squid that comes with it is also very flavorful. I would very much recommend this.
I also love the Hamachi Shots! «Stir, chew, then swallow,» we’re the instructions of our server. Hehe. I’m not a big fan of raw fish, but it was so flavorful that I didn’t even mind the texture.
The Seared Mero was so buttery and at the slightest touch of my fork, a piece fell off the fillet! What I didn’t care for was the veggies that complimented the dish. It reminded me of tamarind, which I LOVE, but did not go well with the fish in my opinion.
The soufflé is like a fluffy marshmallow that’s so soft and it wasn’t overly sweet.
I love the complimentary dessert they offer at the end of our meal. It’s definitely a nice treat at every Alexander’s.

Ambition culinaire certaine pour ce restaurant assez classe, qui annonce la couleur avec un autocollant à l’entrée attestant d’une présence au guide Michelin (les Américains confondent aisément présence dans le guide et possession d’une étoile Michelin… la confusion est compréhensible).
Pour ce qui est de la classe, l’ambiance est réussie, avec une cuisine ouverte, une hauteur sous plafond impressionnante et un agréable décor sobre et sombre. Évidemment, on est en pleine Silicon Valley, donc oubliez le dress-​code: inutile d’enfiler une veste par-​dessus votre hoodie frappé de la pomme ou du G.
Par contre, on a ressenti une certaine déception envers le contenu des assiettes: le menu dégustation à 4 plats (75 $) a l’avantage de réduire la torture du choix, comme on dit dans mon pays d’adoption, mais l’expérience gustative est inégale, entre un tartare de thon quelconque, un plat de poisson remarquable, une viande très tendre mais un peu fade et un dessert pâteux et trop sucré.
Point négatif aussi pour le service, casse-​pied au possible, mécanique (non ça né m’intéresse pas qu’on me récite comme une leçon le curriculum vitae de la vache mise à contribution pour produire mon steak), envahissant (oui je suis assez grand pour me resservir mon eau gazeuse quand j’en ai envie) et qui au final apporte l’addition à peine avalé le dernier morceau du dessert, dans le genre «débarrassez le plancher, d’autres clients ont faim».
Alors 2 étoiles ça peut paraître saqué pour un dîner qui n’était pas mauvais, mais on a été déçus par l’expérience générale pas à la hauteur de sa prétention et qui se fait en plus payer au prix fort.
