I came here with my wife and sister-in-law. The duck spring rolls were decent, though they were a bit stingy with the duck. The real problem was that I ordered the fried trout, while they ordered Pad Thai and Pad Woon Sen. They were served in about 10 minutes, while I had to wait an additional 20 minutes after they had been served for my food to come out. The waiter should have warned me that this dish would take far longer than the other two; or they should have served us all together. I will make the same comment as another recent diner: there were two large groups who were seated *after* us, who received better service and their meals before we did. We had to go up to the register to ask for the check.

Food is ok and some staff members are rude. There are not many choices for thai food close by either.

Waited over an hour for a take out order. They charged us without giving us an estimate of how long it would take, so we had to wait. Avoid.

Disclaimer: I don’t take pleasure in giving low-star reviews, but after my experience last night, my only advice is only come to this place in groups because otherwise you’ll be forgotten. I’ve been here a couple times over the past few years in groups, never had a problem. It wasn’t until yesterday that a friend and I came for dinner. We sat at 6:40, ordered at 7, and received our food at 8:15pm – I’ve never had to wait over an hour for 5 plates of food(two being appetizers) without /any/explanation or updates. I watched a group of eighteen(I counted for reference) be seated, ordered, and delivered their entire meal before we received anything. We asked to pay the check twice because we had a commitment, only to be told«5 more minutes»(when it was 20 and 10 in reality). When we received the food, it was luke warm. The waiter promised a discount and never gave it. Whatever happened last night, I hope it’s fixed soon. I won’t be coming back, but word of the wise as someone’s who worked food service: just be frank and let your customers know you’re running behind instead of trying to see if you can get away with it.

This is the go-to Thai place in Palo Alto. Good for dates, meals with parents, and large groups. I have so many found memories here when I was a student(dates, dorm outings) that I often come back here when I’m in the area. Favorite dishes included the mango chicken, yellow curry, and the pad thai. Always quick and tasty!

This is an amazing Thai place. We loved it there. I recommend getting the veggie and tofu lettuce wraps, the Kung pao veggies and tofu, red curry veggie, and for desert, the tapioca pudding. They are all amazing and had lots of flavor.

First off, props to the owners for coming up with the name. Very clever. Came here for lunch and was able to sit outside to enjoy the nice sunny weather. Got their potstickers, Tom Yum Goong, and Yellow Curry. Everything came out promptly and was delicious. We had great service here as well, would definitely come back again.

My co-workers and I have been coming to this restaurant for a while now and I even recommended it to my boyfriend for his lunch plan with his friend. However, this review is based off today’s experience. My co-workers came here around 12:15 for lunch and the place was packed. We sat outside and we were given our menus and waters. We quickly decided what we wanted and waited for the waiter to come back. It took us 10+ minutes to get one of the two waiters of the establishment. We ordered and it took 20+ minutes for the food to eventually arrive. My spicy basil chicken fried rice was cold! And warm in the center. It was awful, I just ate the warm spots and called it a day. A pro was that they let us split our bill. If we ever come back to this place, it will definitely be before the lunch rush begins.

I have been MIA for a while so let me catch you up: I had a baby(she’s 9 months) Work has been crazy. I have a new perspective on eating out as a new mother. Healthy options that are family friendly are a must! This is the most atrocious Thai food I have ever had. I ordered through DoorDash so of course the prices were inflated and items were missing. I ordered the chicken won ton soup. I loved the spinach but the broth was as bland as a plain, white wall. No flavor what so ever. I was starving so I ate the won tons and spinach but would have liked to chug the broth but it was basically colored water so I threw it out. I also the ordered the pad Thai with shrimp and extra peanuts. I did not receive the shrimp or peanuts which was a bummer. The noodles again had no flavor and just didn’t taste good. The Thai tea tasted like it was batch made and had been sitting at room temp since the AM, and then poured of ice: Spoiled, bitter and watery. The only thing I like about this experience was how they packaged the food. It arrived hot with no spills or leaks. For a Thai place, this place has no flavor or character. I would not go back to this place and I certainly wouldn’t order through DoorDash, as they inflate the price and have a delivery fee so I refuse to pay extra for terrible food.

Nice little place with both inside/outside seating. Came around 1pm for lunch on a Friday, and both my friend’s and my food came out quickly. Ordered the Spicy Chicken Basil Fried Rice with a large Singha. The spoon that came with it was legit. It got good weight on it, full cylindrical handle and feel premium. I felt manly wielding it. Anyway the fried rice was delicious — smoky, tasty, and flavorful. The portion was quite large. I had to to-go half of them. Only minor complaint was that they didn’t seem to want to take our money(shouldn’t be a complaint then eh?). Waited a good 10 mins with the CC out after the cheque — no luck! We decided to be proactive and went up to the counter to get it over with. 4⁄5 would definitely come back!

In a nutshell… go somewhere else. I do not like to write negative reviews unless I have thought it over and made sure I know what I want to say. It is never my intention to deny any business of customers. But I also know people work hard for their money, and it is good to get quality when you pay for quality. I’ve been to Thaiphoon twice and both times were the same; very«formula» tasting food, Americanized for a dull palette. I had the feeling it was pulled out of a giant vat that had simmered for… days? I had lamb, my gentleman friend had a noodle dish with salad. Both were below average. But what was the worst part of the meal was the service. Initially we were served by the hostess, who couldn’t have been less interested in seeing that we had a good dining experience. We had to get up three different times and hunt her down for water, tea, and soda refills; each time interrupting her while she stared into her iPhone, doing her best to ignore us. She grunted her replies, didn’t check in with us once during the meal, and made the whole experience much worse than it needed to be. Later on a waiter assisted us and brought our food; he was professional but barely engaged. It’s one thing to pay good money for bad food; quite another to pay good money for bad food and be treated rudely during the experience. Yes, this is a somewhat harsh review, but it is honest. I have worked in the food industry(waitress, manager, chef) for years so I have appreciation for overwhelmed waitstaff, etc. but the restaurant was empty for almost the entire time we were there. Inexcusable. We will never go back.

BEWAREOFSPICYLEVELS. I ordered a pad thai dish that I thought was delicious but it was way too spicy. My heart started to beat faster and my eyes got wattery as I tried to scarf the food down fast. I’m not sure if this was my fault or my servers fault. I was trying to get an idea of how spicy the dish would be but the server just told me to choose from 1 to 5. Given how subjective this was I chose to go in the middle(«3 or 4 I said») but the server demanded a specific number so I got a little nervous and chose 4. Big mistake. TOO. MUCH. VERY.SPICY.

Thaiphoon is an average Thai restaurant with an exceptional location right in the heart of Palo Alto… This last visit I ordered a beef dish and it was decent, wouldn’t really write home about it, but it was decent as the meat was salted nicely and presented well. The salad and rice that accompanied the meat left a bit to be desired as the rice was dry and the salad had been sitting for a while. Nonetheless, outdoor seating along with a cold beer makes everything ok… Overall, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place to impress someone with your culinary selection, but if you wanted a quick bite and some people watching, it’s not a bad option. Pros– Location People watching Outdoor seating Beer taps Menu selection Cons– Average taste Parking is a pain Service is average Salad was meh

Horrible customer service. BEWAREVEGANS or VEGETARIANS!!! We asked for meatless and we found meat in our food, not spicy and just wrong in every way. What seemed meatless was not so. After several bites, we found beef. yes beef. I can only assume they cook their meat dishes where they cook their veggie dishes. VERYUPSETTINGTOMYVEGANCOWORKER! Also their noodles were lumped into chunks and tasteless. no spice no real pad thai flavor… Order is always wrong and when they promised to fix it, they got me in the store with another order and said they don’t remember. I had called in an order before, my order was wrong. So we called and they said he would comp the pad thai. This was a mistake. They never took down my information(even when I specifically asked if he would write it down.) He said to ask for«PAUL.» So how would i know who«Paul» is if not for them telling me to ask for him. I will be writing the establishment for tricking me into ordering more food and when I am ready to pick up, tell me they don’t remember and sorry, can’t help you… what? What is sad is we order from them many times every month. They just lost a great customer and subsequently any orders I get for catering or luncheons will be sent to a place where customer service and follow thru are important. I will be posting on every review site for how they handled this and how awful their customer service was. It really is a shame that they are losing a regular customer… and one who orders large orders for their company. Bad busines and even worse that when our meal was wrong it was then handled like their customers do not matter. shame on you! You have wasted my time and money. I’ll be sure to let everyone know to NOT order from you anymore…

The atmosphere here is perfect. They’ve got a «face fountain» outside that’s basically a waterfall with a giant face behind it. The menus are very sturdy and nice, and everything is branded with Thaiphoon. Even the plates. It’s a fun, engaging atmosphere to be sure. The food is very good, I had a shrimp soup. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive, pushing this review into the 5 star range.

I’ve been coming here for nearly 10 years and it’s awesome every time. The staff is always friendly and they know my order when I walk in. The pad Thai is the perfect combination of saucy and flavorful but not overly wet. The consistency is second to none so I know what I’m getting every time. Love taking my friends here for Thai food and will continue to dine here. Pricing is great too. Keep it up!

The service here is friendly, and my pad Thai was only just okay. I ended up Srirachi-ing the heck out of it. I’ll have to try other dishes, but for now, I would rate them at 3.5 stars.

Called in for a reservation and got a seat outside but there was a heater right above so it was perfect on a cool night. The strip does get busy at night so I had to park a few blocks down. The service was a bit subpar and they got a part of my friend’s order wrong and kind of antagonized her about what kind of soup she got and asked her if she specifically ordered it and we all heard her so that was a bit disappointing. ALl in all, my pad see ew was good and they made it to my liking and my friends enjoyed their curry. Would return if i was back in the area for thai.
