The star is for the actual haircut, which is cute every time, and my kid is happy. Other than that, this place is becoming just horrible.
They used to let customers call in and get their name on the list. Now they don’t. «It’s not working out for us», I was told on the phone. So now the process is as follows: come in, get your name on the waitlist, and find a way to entertain your kids for 1.5 hours (that’s how long our wait was today)
complete disregard of their customers’ time.
next time I’ll know better and plan ahead, so I can take my kids elsewhere.
I’ve been using snipits for 2 years now, and have been happy with the cuts, but I don’t have 2+ hours to spend on a haircut.

My daughter has a crazy combo of straight and curly hair and they make it look great, while keeping the process calm for a two-​year-​old. She likes getting her haircut and she loves the prizes she gets.

Longest wait for a haircut that I have ever experienced. Stylist was very sweet, very talented — but not worth waiting 1.5 hours and wasting a Sunday morning in a long line. There were no expectations set on the amount of time we would have to wait. Only two stylists were scheduled on a busy weekend morning with no management around, telephone lines ringing off the hook and going unanswered… will never be coming back here again. I emailed my management about my disappointment and they did not bother to respond.

I brought my boy there near the end of the day (with about a ½ hour to go). The receptionist (might have been the manager) was handling another customer. She didn’t make eye contact with me and acted as if I wasn’t there. The 2 hairdressers were sitting around with nothing to do, waiting for us to be checked in. After the other customer was taken care of, the receptionist still didn’t acknowledge me even though I was standing right in front of her. She started counting some money. I made an «ahem» sound to get her attention. She asked if I had signed in, which was absurd since we were the only customers. She indicated the sign-​in sheet so I signed us in. Then finally, she took us back. This took over 5 minutes. I was astonished at the treatment.
The hairdresser was kind enough and the rest of the experience was OK.
However, the quality of the haircut seemed like a hack job. The cut ended up looking like an uneven bowl cut. I haven’t kept track of which hairdressers have worked on my boy, but my wife says there is one she always books. I must be unlucky because whenever I take my boy there it ends up looking terrible.
There’s another shop in Los Gatos where my wife takes the kids. That place is inconveniently far but I think we’re going there instead from now on. They always do a great job.

I used to love Snip-It’s. Their haircuts are still great for kids who are nervous about the whole enterprise. But the process of getting my kids into the chairs gets harder every month.
They used to take appointments. Then they got rid of those and you had to call ahead to get put on a list. And now there’s not even that. Which means that I need to show up at 10 am so that the kids and I don’t get stuck waiting for an hour or more for haircuts.

We used to go to Snip-​Its regularly, but hadn’t been in a while and now I remember why I stopped going there in the first place. We had a terrible experience all around. LONG wait– who has an hour plus to sit around and wait with preschoolers? The stylists are overly busy and way too overwhelmed. One of them was about to break down in tears. Only two stylists on a busy afternoon right before the holidays. There was no receptionist, so the stylists had to also function as the receptionist, thereby slowing everything down even further. And through it all, there is the sound of annoying cartoons blasting and 30 minutes of non stop screaming of an upset toddler. Sheesh — give me SuperCuts any day over this disaster of a place.

We had a birthday party here a year ago for a 6-​year-​old. A good idea but I really wish the employees would have interacted more with the kids. Then it maybe would’ve been less awkward.

We have been a loyal customer for the last many years, and love the hairstylist that we use there (we go there only for one hairstylist, others are great too but we connected with this one only.) We usually go there once every 4 weeks, buy the package deal, etc.
The reception has been getting worse and worse over the last few visits. This time around, the receptionist was yet another new one, and basically rude and unwelcoming.
The wait times are getting longer, no appointments, call in ahead but then there is no guarantee that so many people ahead of you will show up or not, so you are basically at the mercy of total randomness.
This last visit I asked for the rest of my balance back, as I will no longer go there (unless my wife puts a gun to my head, which thankfully she doesn’t own — yet —) The receptionist suggested that she won’t be able to give it back (non-​refundable), but then checked with the manager and said she was instructed to accommodate us.
Needless to say, I hope the rest of the customers who go there have a better experience going forward than we have been having these last few visits. A good business model overall, being run horribly bad in the recent months. Sorry to say good bye to this place. Oh well.

I am greatly disappointed in the service we received from the moment we walked in to the point we walked out. I came to the palo alto location for my baby’s first haircut, first we were greeted by an extremely rude receptionist who told us the wait will be 15 mins, while we waited, 35 mins later I asked her how long would it be and she told me as soon as one of the ladies was done speaking to another client. I confirmed if that would be the person cutting the baby’s hair, the receptionist’s response was «does it matter»?. she also made us repeat everything we said twice, for some odd reason. To top it all off, she had a very obviously bad cold (why is she working at a place filled with babies and older kids while she has a cold?
The worst part of it all, was the haircut. Extremely unprofessional, I deeply regret going to snip its for my baby’s first hair cut. Her hair was cut uneven, her bangs are completely gone,(they’re that high). I was very explicit with what I wanted. Again, I am extremely disappointed in their staff and the level of professionalism. I do not recommend this place.

This is a place that is designed for kids, but the operation is extremely kids unfriendly. They insist that there is no reservation. You have to call them once you are in the car driving to the shop, then they will tell you how long the wait is. So there is a sort-​of waiting list. Even when we were told to come in 20 minutes, we ended waiting for another 40 minutes. For some reason, the person working at the reception was not working there. Our hairdresser had to charge the customer, answer phone calls, make «reservations».
I like the concept of the place, and the quality of our hairdresser, but there wasn’t once that I walked out of that shop without cursing how the place is being run. The place is filled with tired kids and frustrated parents.

They were hella rude to me today.

If you have plenty of time, I mean, hours to waste, this place is for you. I used to call to try to make appointment but they had policies to only accept appointment sometime and they wanted you to do walk-​in. Now that has changed, if you walk in, you are facing a 1.5 to 2 hour wait and they would not call you when it is your turn. We ended up coming back to «check» in 1.5 hours as suggested and waited another half an hour or more. The stylists and environment are good but the receptionist and their way of doing business turn customers away BIG TIME!

They make it very difficult to do business with them. Wouldn’t answer the phone when I tried to call and get on the «list» per web site. After several unanswered calls (of several minutes each), I packed up the kids and drove over. The receptionist told me there was a 2 hour wait (19 people) although there were just 3 kids in the waiting room. Not sure how the other 16 got on the list if they don’t answer the phone. Oh, and I called the manager, Chris, and she has yet to call me back. Should have listened to previous Unilocal reviews and stayed away. Jeanny at Expressions Salon in MP took our business and did a wonderful job with a smile.

If I could give zero stars, I would. First, the receptionist hung up on me when I called in the morning. After that, they just never picked up the phone. I kept trying for two hours and in the end just showed up there and waited. When I asked her about the phone situation (thinking maybe I had the wrong number) she snapped at me that sometimes she just couldn’t get the phone. Terrible attitude, even though I was not really being hostile in any way. While I waited, she hung up on two people, or just let the phone ring.
Or little boy is 14 months old, and I mentioned he was a first timer, hoping they would be at least a little gentler with him. Instead, the stylist got into an argument with the receptionist in front of us, and then turned around and rushed us towards the chair. She just threw the cape around our baby without any introduction, so he started crying. She asked what I wanted, and even though I showed her the haircut in one of their posters, she just proceeded to give him a buzz cut. He cried the whole time, she didn’t address him once. Just kept muttering to herself. She did a terrible job, even though he kept still despite his crying. He now has the most uneven, awful buzz cut, and it was a bad experience.
We are not going back. We could have gotten treated better and with more kindness at a barber shop.

Super great experience with Jewels. I brought my 12 months old there and she was so great, patient. He did not cry at all and looked so grown. The décor is awesome so fun. We need one in the city. He left with a toy and was happy.

Went there on a weekday around 11.30, so the parking and the wait (walk in) was not too bad. The registration process was smooth. The lady who cut my son’s hair did a good job, but I noticed a nick from the clipper behind his ear when we left (and he was not fidgety, so not his fault).
The play area is smaller and has less toys than the ones at other kids haircut places (I have been to two).
They have a $ 15 haircut coupon for first time families.

So I will not have my post taken down (that’s just not right, so I shall repost)
** Update, Gina has never done our daughter Zoey’s hair before and OMG she got the star treatment. I knew from the moment I saw Gina’s true religion jeans we were a match in the quality we want our kids to look. Anyways, my little star couldn’t stop looking at herself in the mirror and just loving all the attention Gina gave her. She got a perfect cut and style fit for my princess. Jack got his second haircut from Miss Gina and let me tell you she is just IT for us. We’re done, call it a wrap she is ours forever. We will NEVER go back to the Asian lady (I think her name is Orchid). All she does is in a monotone voice say «I give you lollipop, no cry» where as Gina gets the adult chair so my 1 year old can sit with me and he doesn’t make a peep! It’s all how you treat not only the client/​child but the PARENT too… if the parent is confident and happy with you… the child will settle. It just confirmed my thoughts when we went yesterday and the chair behind me was Orchid with another 1 year old screaming his head off (used to be my kid) and then there is me and Jack (same age kids) asking for the same haircut and mine is watching Mickey and playing with a book Gina gave us, and I’m comfortable in my nice big chair… easy peasy! I felt bad for the parents behind me with Orchid, the parents were hunched over holding the kids head down as he screams through the entire cut. I hate to give away my secret to kids cuts but really people, don’t just wait in line here… ask for GINA****

Okay so we found our diamond in the rough… We’ve been going to snip it’s for almost 7 years for my daughter mainly due to how clean this place is and very kid friendly… but I never really had the wow experience until yesterday. I brought my son for his 3^rd haircut there and the first 2 times (he’s 17mo) I got both the Asian ladies, both seemed rushed and annoyed that he was crying. This time I got a new lady who was just a DIAMOND… her name is GINA. She was from the get-​go exceptional… I called ahead so that my son wouldn’t have to wait forever, I got a 2 hour wait time via the phone person. I waked in the door and Gina immediately greets me and says «did you call ahead, I replied yes, gave the name» and she said, I’ll take you right now. WOW, that’s never happened. Then when I told her it’s better that he sits on me, she went above and beyond to switch the little kid seat to a bigger seat so I would be more comfortable… why didn’t the Asian ladies do that? I know, because it takes time and the extra mile which they didn’t care. Gina then put on mickey, his fav, and he didn’t make a PEEP. She kept the conversation light and cheery and my son sat through: clipper, blow dryer and sheers! NO problem… not a single tear. I mean really she knows her stuff. I would highly and ONLY recommend GINA. GINA YOU ARE THE BEST!!!
Oh, and of course my little man has an great haircut too!

I can’t say enough about the wonderful staff at Snip-​its, especially Gina. They are always courteous, kind and very professional. And Gina, well, she’s turned what was a traumatic event for my 8 year old son into something so pleasurable that he’s now asking to get his hair cut.
You see my son has sensory issues and has never been a fan of something touching his head (unless it’s a kiss), so getting a hair cut was a horrific experience for him with lots of screaming and kicking. We had tried all sorts of places, tricks, incentives, people, but nothing seemed to make it better… then we tried Snip-​Its and luckily got Gina as our stylist. She recognized right away that he wasn’t comfortable and offered to let him sit wherever he wanted. She patiently waited out his screams and talked to him in a calm, confident manner, showing him how the clippers worked, what the water bottle did, etc. Others had done the same approach and failed, but some how Gina got through to him and he calmed down.
He got his third haircut from Gina today after asking to get it done last night (I almost crashed the car from shock when he asked) and it was the easiest thing in the World. He went willingly and with a great big smile on his face.
Oh and the haircut looks incredible
We’ll be going to Snip-​its for a long time to come.

I came in w my 1 yr old son. He doesn’t cry or move a lot. We got a nice cute Asian lady with glasses and nice make up done shoulder length hair or a bit longer. I asked for a mohawk and we’ll I’m most positive she had never done one before. I’m guessing the only thing she knew how to do was fades, not what I expected from a popular location like this. It was $ 23 she kept asking me how it was and it was as horrible I kept pointing with my fingers trying to even the lines out. Looked like she was worried about her time so I didn’t say nothing more and left. I’m sad I left her a tip, I’m a nice person but I don’t think I will be going back it was so disappointing. I instagrammed a picture of when he was sitting and watching TV but not of the result, embarrassing.

Kanoa was a little nervous about losing his rattail, but happy with his handsome new look! We didn’t have an appointment, but only waited for 5 minutes on a busy Saturday morning. He’s 8 months old, so they had him sit on my lap. They offered to take photos using my iPhone during the whole process. The woman who cut his hair (I forgot her name!) was great with him and knew a bunch of little tricks to get him to sit still. At the end she gave him a little rubber ducks to keep.
Since it was our first visit, we received $ 5 off for a total of $ 18. Totally worth it!
