Reza Riahi, DDS

Dr. Riahi (and all of his staff) are awesome! I’m a scaredy cat when it comes to going to the dentist, so you can imagine my horror when I was told that I needed a root canal! (dun dun dunnnn!) However, as soon as I walked into Dr. Riahi’s office, I immediately calmed down, and felt at ease. I’m not sure if it was the flat screen tv with the ocean waves going in the background, the cute little assortment of teas in the waiting room, or the bamboo plants that made everything… zen? All in all, it’s a very nice, clean, and modern, dental office. Dr. Riahi has skills! Not only did he perform a stellar root canal on my tooth, he kept me informed and answered my questions the whole way through. We even had a good laugh, or two! He was so attentive, efficient, and professional. He even called after the procedure, just to see how I was doing. Talk about great customer service! I would most definitely recommend Dr. Riahi. He gets 5 stars in my book!

I had a great experience with Dr Riahi and his staff. I needed a root canal and 2 posts inserted and tooth buildup and temp put on in preparation for a cap. It was tricky as doctors are trying to save tooth and there is not much left of it. Dr Riahi was very calming, patient and kind.

Dr. Riahi is attentive, considerate, thorough, and completely open with presenting options and explaining what can and should be done. He is very competent and professional. I felt that he sincerely cares about the well being and comfort of his patients. His demeanor is friendly, calm, and puts the patient at ease. I can say the same of the entire office staff. No one likes to go the endodontist, especially for a root canal like me. But if you must, in my experience, Dr. Riahi is the best around this area.

I was referred to him from another dentist for a root canal. I specifically asked on the if my insurance worked and if everything was okay. His assistant told me I was covered and to come in. So based on my conversation with her, I in good faith went to them for a Root Canal. Little did I know, my insurance did not cover the procedure and I was royally screwed. This became an on going drama for months afterwards when it never needed to be. I am thankful Riahi was pretty reasonable when talking to him later about the issue. But I would never recommend a place that has practices like this. Especially since his assistant would call me later with a lot of attitude in her voice. Even though this entire situation was because of her and I was the one who had to pay, not her.

Let’s face it, nobody gets excited about needing a root canal. I’d never had one before, so my entire understanding was based on television/​movie portrayals (spoiler: every depiction ever has exaggerated the torment of root canals more than the Die Hard series exaggerated explosions). I’m also generally terrified of dental visits since I have ridiculously sensitive teeth and usually take a long time to get numb. Dr. Riahi was FANTASTIC at putting me at ease, explaining everything that was going to happen, numbed me faster and easier than any other dentist, and encouraged me to have my headphones in blasting music to tune out the noise (the sound of drills scares the daylights out of me). Literally the only painful part of the experience was the cold test to see whether the tooth was dead, and that was just an ice chip. He was quick and efficient with the root canal and filling. And he even called me later that night to check in and make sure I wasn’t having any pain or swelling, and automatically scheduled me for a complimentary check up in a couple of months to see how the tooth is doing. Hands down, best dental experience ever. I would trust Dr. Riahi and his staff with any worrisome tooth.

Was referred by my dentist to see Dr Riahi for a root canal unfortunately I had to cancel my appointment because my mother had broken her leg the night before. The morning of I called and told them I would reschedule and that I had a family emergency. Finally after a few weeks called back to reschedule when things were finally starting to get better with my mother. The Dr said I now would need to make a consultation appointment even though my dentist reffered me and my ex rays were already sent to him which would be $ 300 extra plus my actual appointment the staff here are inconsiderate and rude. I’m already in pain with a temporary filling in my tooth and now I need a consultation so the dr can poke at my mouth and make my tooth even more uncomfortable to determine if I need treatment or not?! Ya I’d rather pass and ask my dentist to refer someone else. If that’s the case the dr should really think about having an appointment cancelation fee/​policy to go by and tell the patients about it at the time there appointment is booked.

I have nothing but good to say about Dr. Riahi and his staff. Very caring and considerate during all of my visits. I was referred by my dentist, in South San Jose, to Dr. Riahi to perform a procedure to save a tooth. It’s a long drive to Palo Alto from our house, but well worth it. Also, super comfortable chairs!

I went to Dr. Riahi to have my tooth examined for a potential root canal. Dr. Riahi was deliberate and methodical in his examination and gave me all the options to consider. He ensured that I had the appropriate amount of preparation in place before starting the work. The root canal procedure itself was completely painless. What I liked about the experience was Dr. Riahi’s attention to my comfort at all times.
I highly recommend Dr. Riahi to anyone who needs to go through this process.

Obviously I was not very thrilled to learn that I needed a root canal, so I was a bit nervous when I came in. Dr. Riahi thoroughly explained what needed to be done and why, and was able to put me at ease. I thought that I was just going in for a consultation, but he said he had time to do it right then, and because I had the day off of work I agreed to do it then. I let him know that it usually takes a lot of the novocaine to numb me up, and he was very liberal with the stuff and even at one point shot it right into the root of my tooth (I think.) Anyway, after all of the novocaine I didn’t feel anything as he did the root canal. They put this latex dental dam in your mouth before they do the drilling and it was weird at first, but after I got used to it, it was good to have because I could rest my tongue against the side of it. The only thing that was really difficult about the procedure was that he kept asking me to open my mouth wider and wider. It makes sense because this was my back lower left molar, but I don’t think I’ve ever had my mouth open that wide before.
So to wrap up, Dr. Riahi made my first root canal as good of an experience as was possible. I definitely recommend this practice.

I needed a root canal done. My dentist is in the East Bay and referred me to a couple of dentists. But I needed an endodontist in peninsula. I loved my experience there. Staff were great and cordial, and Dr. Riahi was outstanding. He was gentle, had high-​end equipment, making my root canal experience smooth. I recommend this practice!

I was referred to Dr. Riahi for an emergency root canal as I was in so much pain all weekend. They were not going to be able to see me until 3:30pm, and I stressed how much pain I was in and they took me right away, I was so blessed and relieved.
Dr. Riahi took his time to expalin everything he was going to do as well as followed up with me throught the process of my root canal.
I would highly recommend no need to look elsewhere, Office staff was effecient and friendly.

I just recently had Dr Riahi do a root canal for me in preparation for a crown by my regular dentist, and have been very pleased. The procedure, although long due to its nature, was as painless as it can be. I have had a couple of them before and this was by far the most comfortable. I felt confident that he and the people on his staff were very competent and am confident that all will work out well with the result. I really felt that he cared about my comfort as well as doing a great job. Highly recommended.

What do you want from a specialist, Dr/​dentist? skilled approach and informed decisions, a differential diagnosis and no rush to judgement or immediate knee-​jerk reaction. He is thoughtful and intelligent in his approach, he tries the least invasive approach first, then evaluates to ensure he is doing what is best. He is kind, and compassionate. I was scared today to go in for my root canal. My first experience from another dr a few years back was a bad experience. My jaw hurt for months and it took forever. Dr. Riahi is efficient! I had a positive experience start to finish. I am grateful for his knowledge, skill, care and compassion.

I want to thank Dr. Reza Riahi and his staff for such a great and painless experience. I am very satisfied with the work that Dr. Riahi has done for me. He is very knowledgeable and professional in what he does. Dr. Riahi is definitely one of the best in what he does. I have visited other doctors and none of them were able to identify and treat my problems like he did. I would definitely recommend Dr. Riahi if you are looking for a professional endodontic.

Last week was my consultation, which was great. Yesterday was my actual appointment. I was even more nervous before the appointment as I’ve heard painful stories about root canals and I’m in generally not a fan of going to the dentist — is anyone? :) The moment I arrived and sat in the chair — Dr. Riahi made me feel more calm, at ease and assured me it will be painless. He worked slow, checking to make sure I was ok… It’s the small things like care and attention to the patient is what makes the experience that much better.
I’ll end this review with a big Thank You to Dr. Riahi (and his team, Amy and Maureen) for making root canal procedures less scary and more comfortable.

Intelligent and compassionate, this was by far the most painless and efficiently accomplished oral procedure I have had. I went in skeptical and a little afraid and walked out smiling and pain free.

Dr Riahi and his staff were able to fit me into the schedule in the late afternoon — at the last minute. They were extremely accommodating and very much had my best interests in mind from a patient perspective. Dr Riahi took the time to understand my symptoms, to perform the appropriate tests, explain everything about my root canal, and asked the right questions. Very professional, extremely competent and someone I will absolutely go to for endodontist needs in the future. I was more than impressed by him and his staff!

If u can say u had a great experience treating an abscesed root canal — then u know u went to a great endodontist-​gentle and experienced– educated knowledgeable quick and pain free– during and after the treatment!

I’m stunned and grateful to be giving a 5-​star review for a root canal. This Harvard Medical grad was recommended by my dentist for treatment of a complicated (3) root canal procedure. I’ll spare you the gory details but know that this doctor’s contact info has been placed in my address book just in case I ever require endodontic services again. Past experiences had already informed me of the high cost of a root canal, but I feel Dr Riahi’s charges were very fair, especially given the level and quality of treatment, which includes a no-​additional-​cost 6-​month follow-​up.
