Established in 1977.

Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy has been instructing and certifying people to become professional hypnotherapist for 35 years.

Anyone wishing to create a new career or introduce motivational hypnotherapy techniques into a existing profession will benefit from the courses taught at the school. Many students have taken the courses for personal self empowerment. Either way, career or personal, the graduate students always proclaim «my life has been transformed».

Since 1975 Dorthy has offered services in her private practice. Public appearances include; radio, TV, lectures, speaker at Sequoia Hospital, and various service organizations.

Dorthy’s formal education is from New York University at Cortland. She is a native of New York and often is invited to be a public speaker when in the New York area.

If you are lucky enough to take hypnotherapy from Dorothy Tyo, you will be learning from one of the best in the world. I personally met one of her clients who has great wealth but became gravely ill. The best doctors from around the world could not help him. He said Dorothy saved his life. This class is one of the best things I have ever done. I am a better parent because of what I learned at PASOH, a better daughter, a better person. I am grateful and am looking forward to helping others with this wonderful gift.

I’ve been a client of hypnotherapy and NLP (neuro linguistic programming) for 10 years now. I have had amazing results from hypnotherapy and I must say was fortunate enough to see one of the best. When I recently decided to learn more about hypnotherapy, it naturally made sense for me to go to the school that my hypnotherapist went to, which is PASOH. And I’m happy to say that I feel more like a family member than just another number or student in a class. I look forward to class and Dorothy Tyo is definitely one of the best in the biz, and a gifted teacher. If you’re seriously interested in hypnotherapy and the mind-​body connection, then I would highly encourage you to come to one of the introductory workshops … and if you’re really curious, you will be very happy with the school. It’s a very comfortable environment, the offices are located in a nice building.
Lisa is an angel who helps the students with sign up and any needs that you may have. We also had guest speakers who are definitely passionate about the work they do. It’s really motivating and inspiring to hear the many stories and applications of hypnotherapy!

I did a lot of research before I choose this school for my Hypnotherapy certification. I wanted a real education not just a weekend course cert program or an online class. I cannot say enough good things about it. Not only did I get a good education but I met some great people in the classes and Dorthy is full of wisdom and knowledge, I actually enjoyed the classes. I actually left the school feeling confident in starting my business and I have. =)

An amazing and transforming experience to be part of classes here. The school makes it very easy to come and sit in on classes with no obligation before deciding it is for you.
I’ve connected with the greatest people, both students and teachers, who are the most aware, conscious, and caring group of individuals I’ve come across yet. The principles I’ve learned have opened up my life in ways I could not have imagined. Besides experiencing personal breakthroughs, I now have many tools available to use in helping others make transformative shifts in their lives.
I definitely recommend checking out PASOH. I am certainly glad I didn’t let this opportunity pass me by.

I have taken three hypnotherapy classes in the last six months at Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy and this is a excellent training place. Dorthy Tyo has many years of experience as a practicing hypnotherapist, as do the other instructors. The courses are well delivered in an exciting, interactive atmosphere, where everyone’s participation is valued. Also, there is plenty of time to practice in this protective atmosphere.
Classes are usually offered both in the morning and in the evening. It is the most flexible schedule of all the hypnotherapy schools I researched in the Bay Area before choosing Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy.
I have experienced significant positive changes in my life just from taking the classes and the practice sessions with other students. It is an incredible experience in an incredible place.

If you’re even remotely considering a career in hypnotherapy or just incredibly curious about this wonderful modality for both healing & change, then I would be hard pressed to think of a better place to learn from than the Palo Alto School. For starters, the teachers there are all top-​notch, incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and when they’re not teaching, they’re professional, working hypnotherapists. As a result, you’re learning from «those who know,» and what more could you ask for?
With regard to the classes themselves, they are smaller in size which really lends itself to a more individualized, as well as concentrated, learning environment and the students with which I attended class with were all very supportive & kind, which also made for a very conducive learning experience.
Another thing which I really loved about this school is that you learn all about the different aspects of what it takes to become an actual working hypnotherapist which I found incredibly invaluable.

If you would like to become certified in hypnotherapy, there couldn’t be a finer educational institution. The classes are informative, exciting, very interactive and healing for the student. The instructors have proven track records in the field and it shows. Their teaching style is welcoming as well as caring with a real desire to teach you the ins and outs of getting your clients the results they really want. I highly recommend their classes. They also offer great one day workshops, usually held on a Saturday, on relative topics that could expand and enhance your healing practice.

I am a graduate of PASOH. Although I have been a practicing MFT for several years, this has been one of the most amazing experiences in my life. I learned several techniques as a healer that I have already used in my practice. Most importantly, I have learned to approach my profession and my life from a different perspective. The classes, whether beginning, clinical, medical and so on, all explored the power of the mind and its astonishing capacity for healing and growth. Well worth the exploration and the time!
