LYFE Kitchen

Yessss! There’s a LYFE in NorCal! Yay! Fresh produce, organic and sustainable living… come here after expending calories and finding your zen at your local yoga class. This place is great for a refuel after a workout and will leave you feeling full without any associated guilt. I was a frequenter of one of their Southern California locations and I’m happy to see them expanding. I love their salads, sweet potato fries and pomegranate lemonade!

Bf and I love coming to Lyfe for a yummy breakfast: yogurt and a breakfast burrito, with a side of chipotle hash. We’re there almost every weekend and the quality of these breakfast items has been consistently good. Freshly squeezed OJ and home made hot sauce are awesome also.
Having said that, the last two times (latest being this morning) we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the place and staff that seems to cluster around the kitchen area. It is now common to find multiple tables with dirty dishes after guests are long gone, and numbers still on the tables, which should be taken away after all of the items are brought out. When tables get cleared they don’t get wiped. A table outside, which we wanted to sit at, was cleared but never wiped. So we sat at a different table and debated whether the table outside would get wiped in the duration of us being there-​it had a large ketchup or sauce spill in the middle so it clearly needed a wipe. The surface of our table this morning was sticky enough for me to put down a napkin as a placemat. Bf and I started playing a game counting how many tables are piled with dirty dishes, and whether any would get wiped after clearing. A table and a half got cleared, and as we guessed, didn’t get wiped. Another table got half cleared.
We also had to wipe down the cushiony white/​grey seats as they had spills and crumbs on them. As we started wiping we realized how filthy they are with dried sticky stains.
We counted how many staff were hanging out near the kitchen area, idle, laughing, checking their phones and there were 5.
Love our breakfast food here. Wish the restaurant manager took control of the situation and instilled a different philosophy in its staff. One where every employee feels responsible for the cleanliness of its dining area and a better experience for its guests. If this attitude continues it would make me worry about the cleanliness of the kitchen, but I am hopeful that their kitchen is in order as there usually is a kitchen manager, separate from the front of the house staff. We will have to find a different breakfast place if the dirty dining area mess continues.

Ew. Sure, it’s nice to attempt to have a restaurant with healthy, delicious food; but the food here is literally awful. If you’re worried about calories go grab a salad somewhere and save yourself this bland, unsatisfying meal. Or just, I don’t know, portion control yourself at a normal restaurant.
Went here about a year ago, but I felt compelled to review this place to prevent people from accidentally eating here. We tried a thai chicken curry, which had horrible, bland flavor. Also had a soba noodle with white fish dish, which had maybe 10 soba noodles (remember, low calorie), and very bland watery fish.
People are probably reviewing it highly because it is «healthy»…this place definitely caters to rich housewives in Palo Alto who have no taste in food, and just want a restaurant that looks nice and is low calorie so they can fit into their yoga pants. Sure, it’s low calorie… maybe their strategy is to make the food so bad you won’t want to overeat… best part was definitely the beers…

My ex cooks for me. All of them, actually. One of the few perks of divorces.
I heard about this place and decided to deal with the holy hell that is parking in Palo Alto and visit Lyfe. The exterior design reminds me of The Melt — another gazillion chain cafes that is spreading like an infection all over California. The place had a clean, perky, high-​school employees feel to it. Is that good or bad? Good for the most part. Food selection in the menu is alright. I order the salad with the kale in it. Not bad; heavy on the dressing (oil is oil and there is plenty of unhealthy oils in the dressing, ladies and gentleman). My son complained that he did not have enough food on his ceramic plates that the food came in. True; portion tiny. Fine-​dining portion and ¹⁄₃ the taste. So, I will say it: the food here is not delicious. There is all this mumbo jumbo about all these healthy ingredients and preparation technique for Lyfe, but, unless I see it, I will not believe this either. And then I got the bill. Wow. Fine-​dining portion, teenager employees, food comes on an orange tray like a hospital cafeteria, undelicious foods and, on top of all that, you pay and arm and a leg for it. Sure my ex-​wives cook better than this place and most places, but, as a regular customer of other eateries in Palo Alto, this place was substandard in my book.
Philosophically speaking — because I am truly a brainiac in the disguise of a hot, single (and available lady Unilocalers out there) — why would I go to this place when there are other food concepts out there? Expensive and politically correct: Whole Foods Market. Stuck up customers and tattooed hippie clerks: Whole Foods Market. Inexpensive and delicious: McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger Kings, etc. Large and generous portion and inexpensive and delicious: McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger Kings, etc. Tiny, expensive and tasteless: Lyfe Kitchen. Whoever came up with the Lyfe concept need to get out of the mindset that customers are dumb, do not have tastebuds and have all the money in the world. They can advertise all they want about the miracle ingredients and supernatural way they cook their food, but I am not sold on Lyfe Kitchen based on my visit and the negative experience I had. Even my son does not want to return and he likes the color orange. It’s Palo Alto; I would think the creator of the Lyfe Kitchen would give Palo Alto customers more credit about the science, value and quality of what they put in their body.

I find myself here quite a bit lately. Just recently my friend was diagnosed with celiac disease, which causes abdominal pain if gluten was consumed, thus when we dine we have to be cognizant where we go to eat. At LYFE Kitchen, is the one place he is most comfortable dining at.
At first, dining at LYFE Kitchen does not sound very enticing, but after a handful of times this spot grew on me (and bonus: it’s never too busy :))
LOCATION
The restaurant has a large patio dining area, so it’s pretty hard to miss that and the signage. It helps also to be located at the heart of downtown Palo Alto as well.
PARKING
In my opinion, parking is not so bad. Although it does get busy and congested, the traffic is always moving. It is as though, people from or near the area of Palo Alto often do not dine for longer than 2 hours, so the frequency of coming and going causes parking spots to open up fairly quickly. Otherwise, if you have low tolerance of driving around looking for parking, find a near by public parking lot or structure and find a port there.
EXTERIOR
As I have mentioned before, there is a nice patio outside. I cannot recall if they had heat lamps out there as I have yet to dine outside, but if I’m correct: I do not think so. Pretty modern decorated with wood-​like framing and signage. Attractive.
INTERIOR
The floor plan is a bit complicated. You enter at the very corner of the restaurant where you can find the menu hung on the wall on your right. Once you made your selection, you move forward where the cash registers are. On the left you’ll find seats that varies from booths, tables and chairs and bar-​style table tops and chairs (talk about keeping it diverse!). Once you place the order, you find your seat (remember to grab your number) or like me head straight to the restrooms which is located at the opposite corner of the restaurant. You will pass the area where your busboy/​girl picks up your special drink or food and serve it to you at your table. Pass this short area, you find self-​serve water dispenser (no bottle waters here, which I find a bit annoying since it’s always room temperature… just a little), utensils, and napkins. You just made through a zig-​zag maze to the restrooms from the front of the restaurant. With four (4) healthy legs it is easy– with a walker/​wheelchair… not so much. I like the fact that they kept the décor consistent throughout the exterior and interior, simple but easy.
SERVICE
My bestfriend almost always have questions every time we dine here. What blows me away is that people at the register was knowledgeable of what my friend could and could not consume. So when he wanted to modify certain things about a non-​gluten free entrée, she was able to do it it for him and letting him know what he can and cannot consume and what they can and cannot do to accommodate him. (this is where my 4-​star rating came from :)) Although smiles should be practice a bit more here, their service is quick and professional.
FOOD
I’ve been on a very low salt, carb, calories diet for over 6 years so food here was perfect for my taste buds. Given the fact that my bestfriend have been consuming high salt, high sodium, enormously amount of calories diet (e.g.: burritos, tacos, etc) the food is quite tasteless/​bland for him (you think he should lose tons of weight by now). I like it. :)
VERDICT
I have yet to encounter a long line at this spot and the food doesn’t make me feel guilty after I consume it, it is definitely a spot I would return myself (which I have). I’m a fan :)

Love this place! Will definitely be back! Or they can open one IN or CLOSER to the Central Valley.
Loved the vegan corn chowder and the roasted veggies. Enjoyed some freshly squeezed orange juice. Would’ve tried the GF Margherita Flat Bread but hubby got one with Mozzarella cheese. Not sure if they have any kind of vegan cheese.
Service was fast (although I came here when it wasn’t too busy. late lunch at 3pm).
Love the interior. The color, design, the furnitures! Everything looked great!

The love for a quick-​bite and a friends recommendation got me to this place. The ambience, location and seating capacity is great.
Food though didn’t feel that way!
My Thai red curry bowl didn’t much live up the taste, heaps of Eggplant pieces, green peas, tofu and broccoli felt disappointing. Fact that there was no rice served was not how Thai food is understood to be eaten! Veggie Burger wasn’t juicy enough to be enjoyed!
The ladies washroom that particular day was filthy with the waste-​bins overflowing! Staff at the counter was not attentive as she messed up our veg order for else!
My insight is so that the hype surrounding this eatery isn’t all it’s worth.

My favorite (must try) recommendations are:

— kale banana smoothie
I have been here several times and have never been disappointed with any of the items I have tried (except the watery drinks like watermelon waters etc.) I love that their menu is well marked with vegetarian, gluten free options. If you haven’t tried this place it’s definitely worth a shot.

Ok, only because I had good customer service I’ll give it 5 stars.
I ordered a quinoa wrap to go. Lululemon distracted me so I was late to pick it up and starving. I ended up eating there.
The décor is cool. It has its own vibe with little quotes on the walls.
My quinoa wrap was ehhhh, okay. But it was the only healthy option in the area. It was about $ 10. But $ 10 in Palo Alto is fair.
Maybe I’ll come back, not sure yet. But I’m glad they have healthy options.

Ok, but not as good as the one in Cupertino in my opinion. Good location, clean place, fast service, but this non-​salty food is not really convincing. I love the kale/​banana smoothie, that is a meal in itself. Nice people for casual lunch or dinner, but nothing special.

LYFE Kitchen is fine, but it isn’t great. I was hoping for more, but was a bit disappointed.
The menu is filled with «healthy» offerings. While vegan/​vegetarian friendly, probably more than half of the menu is meat. It’s a little confusing about what market they’re trying to corner here. They have a decent number of options, although it all just seems kind of random.
On my visit, I got the Italian flatbread sandwich with a side of sweet potato garlic parmesan fries. It was $ 2 to add a side, so why not? I’m glad I did get them, otherwise I don’t think I would have been filled from just the entrée. It was basically just a sandwich between two crunchy flatbreads, with some marinara for dipping. It tasted good, but I don’t see myself every craving it again. The fries were a disappointment. They were fairly soggy — not crisp at all. And for being garlic fries, I didn’t taste that much garlic. It was a pretty big let down for me.
If I worked in downtown Palo Alto, I might come here occasionally for lunch, but I don’t see myself stopping back in. The food is decent, but it’s not worth the hassle of trying to find somewhere to park in Palo Alto, and there are a lot of other restaurants nearby that I would rather go to instead.

LYFE– Love Your Food Everyday
My friend was on a diet, so I decided we should check this place out. I really wanted to try Art’s unfried chicken, but they were only offering breakfast at the time. The menu is healthy with vegan and gluten-​free options. Everything is under 600 calories and 1000 mg of sodium. I decided to order the Breakfast Spinach & Avocado Frittata– served w/​chipotle potato hash. It was cheesy with crispy edges. I tried my friend’s Morning Veggie Wrap. It was ok– I liked the roasted mushrooms in it. I also had a LYFE water– cucumber mint. I didn’t taste a lot of mint, but it was refreshing. The restaurant is causal. You order at the register and seat yourself. Someone brings the food out to you. The restaurant is also fairly inexpensive. Even though portions didn’t look like much, it was more than enough food.

So, this place definitely does not give me LYFE. Hahaha. But seriously… WTF? What I served here could barely be called a meal, and it sure wasn’t worth $ 12!!!
I ordered a grilled veggie salad with added tofu. Sounds pretty simple, right? I expected grilled (or at least COOKED) veggies on top of a bed of salad. I LOVE grilled veggies. Unfortunately what came out was just normal veggies on top of some spinach with NO DRESSING!!! AHHHH! SALAD NIGHTMARES!!!
Have you ever tried to eat uncooked eggplant?! It wasn’t fun; do not recommend! All of the veggies were raw as the day they were picked. I didn’t see any croutons on this thing either, which were supposed to be on there according to the description. And I KNOW some other misguided person out there has tried to eat salad without dressing… yeah, let’s not go there. So many things went wrong.
SUUUUUUUCH a letdown, Lyfe Kitchen! The tofu was OKAY. I guess that’s why I’m giving them an extra star. Considering all the options on the menu, I’m sure they have something here that’s healthy and satisfying. But that something is NOT the grilled veggie salad. Don’t order it!!!

I was hoping for this place to be good but my experience left me not wanting to return. When I first walked in the line was almost out the door and only one register was open taking orders. You would think when a place is that busy to open another register but clearly that’s not the case here. Finally when I ordered my meal the individual at the register was quick to take the order and not too friendly. Right from the start the experience was not a good one. However while waiting in line I noticed the restaurant was dirty with tables not cleaned, dishes not taken away, food and paper on the floors.
When my order arrived I honestly thought it was a joke. The chicken avocado wrap looked as if it came off the kids menu and the veggie burger was basically a frozen patty that most likely was purchased awhile ago. Nothing fresh of this selection. The fries were cold and had no flavor which was quite gross.
I don’t why this place is packed or the reviews are high because the food is not impressive and this place reminded me of an overpriced Panera Bread. I would recommend looking elsewhere

This restaurant is our go-​to dinner place on weekdays when we have way too much work and cant cook at home.

We don’t tend to order salads or breads but for the most part every dish we have ordered we were left wondering about the complexity in flavor profile, the simplicity in presentation and the deliciousness of the dish. We have never been here for breakfast, so my review is specific to lunch and dinner only
Price is very reasonable for the location and how hearty and enjoyable your meal can be!
To us proximity to home is another bonus.

I’d give them at least a 4.5. Let’s round it up to 5 because it was past closing (9pm on Tuesday) and they didn’t mind us and a few other customers finishing up. The employees are extremely patient and down to earth. The cashier/​server we interacted with was game when my friend asked what her favorites were. I went ahead and ordered:
*Mushroom chicken spinach penne: mmm savory cashew cream sauce and whole wheat penne! Didn’t let me down in terms of taste; the sandwich I kept eating in between bites killed it though.
*Margherita flatbread: melted cheese and cherry tomato halves, satisfactory
My friend decided on the:
*Grilled chicken avocado sandwich (our cashier’s recommendation): my favorite! I don’t know what’s in that garlic aioli or whatever but it’s addicting. I wanted more than half the sandwich (since we split). Another positive is it’s grilled! Cuts back on so much fat. Of course my friend asked for extra everything that was free, mainly produce such as onions. Extra avocado costs more.
*Side of garlic Parmesan sweet potato fries: eh they were ok, the garlic parm won me over when ordering but I’m not a huge fan of sweet potato fries.
*Spicy Vietnamese lettuce wraps with Gardein artificial beef– very good! It wasn’t overly spicy, just a tad. Some would say it’s mild. I liked the wheat berries, reminded me of the round steel cut oats from Jamba Juice … I was so fooled into thinking I was chewing on real meat. My friend noticed and we double checked the menu. Vegetarian option!
We ordered the cucumber mint water and pomegranate lemonade. Cucumber mint had a bit of lime and agave, refreshing! The lemonade color was so pretty, not too sweet.
Spacious and has orange accents all over the place! Besides the obvious green anyway.
–Order at the counter and they’ll give you a numbered buzzer. It never buzzed, instead the workers brought over our food and drinks. Tips!
–Fill your own water glass hidden round the left corner toward the back with more seating. I like the seat options: regular tables, high tables, half couch/​chairs, movable orange booths, etc.
Too bad they ran out of the seasonal shrimp and grits. They’ll have it until the end of April. It’s cool how the three specials are Lent friendly (no meat, all seafood like shrimp and salmon). I’ll be back!

LYFE, which stands for love your food everyday, is easily one of my favorite healthy eats in the Bay. I’ve been here two times total and LYFE has proved to me that you don’t have to sacrifice healthy eating for good flavor and delicious taste. The food here is not only organic but it’s also pretty reasonably priced.
I’ve had the Art’s Unfried Chicken, the BBQ chicken flatbread, the classic burger, the Italian sandwich pizza thing and the garlic parmesan sweet potato fries. I have not disliked a single thing I’ve tried here. Not only does the food fill you up, but it does so without making you feel like your arteries have been clogged.
My favorites so far have to be the unfried chicken, the burger and the sweet potato fries. The burger was perfectly filled, warm and cooked nicely. The taste is very fresh and crisp. Usually burgers tend to be more oily and after eating it, it makes you feel heavy. But not at LYFE! After this burger, I felt full but not heavy at all.
The unfried chicken is a must. Trust me, just try it. Although it’s not fried, the breading on the chicken is perfectly crispy and very tasty. I especially love the sauce that it comes with. The sweet potato fries (the first time I had them, I didn’t like them since they were cold) are great when made correctly! They are baked so not as crispy as if they were fried, but they have a spectacular taste and are still relatively crisp and very tasty.

Came here for lunch after a Saturday morning hike. I legit just stood and stared at the menu for a good 7 minutes because I couldn’t decide what to get. A lot of things sounded appealing! I finally settled on the thai curry bowl with chicken and a side of sweet potato fries.
The sweet potato fries were pretty good considering they aren’t deep fried. They are a little more «limp» compared to deep-​fried fries, but are still crispy and tasty.
For my curry, they ran out of the wheatberries (it’s similar to a grain), so they subbed in quinoa and black rice instead. Honestly I didn’t miss the wheatberries. The quinoa was fantastic.
I loved that the curry was flavorful, but not spicy at all. If you like curry but can’t handle spice, this dish is for you. I was also super happy with the fact that they had a very generous serving of veggies (broccoli, peppers, peas), especially since a lot of places are pretty stingy with their veggies. They also cooked the vegetables perfectly. The curry bowl I had at Veggie Grill had veggies so raw, my jaw hurt by the end of my meal.
The portion size was just right. I was stuffed after. Prices are also on par with food in Palo Alto area and with vegan restaurants such as Veggie Grill.
I’ll probably stop by again if I’m in the area!

Originally came to the area for the Palo Alto farmer’s market, but apparently that’s only open May — December…
LYFE ended up being a good replacement spot. For $ 30, I ordered all three vegan options off of the brunch menu and my «brunch buddy» got the curry bowl.
The vegan brunch options were great —
Multi-​Grain Griddle Toast: for reasonably priced toast ($ 1.50) it had a surprising amount of flavor. Not bad but it was better as a biscuit dipped in the Thai curry.
Chipotle Potato Hash — this was decent. Basically just potatoes with some spices and some sort of sauce that reminded me of taco bell (in a good way.)
Morning Veggie Wrap — my personal favorite. At first I was disappointed because it looked a little small, but it was surprisingly filling. The ingredients go well together and the tofu scramble is probably one of the best I have ever had.
Sweet Potato Fries — excellent. Love the seasoning that they use on them.
Overall LYFE kitchen has a great vibe, open seating, and a ton of vegetarian/​vegan options. Definitely check it out.

Good spot for a healthy lunch in Palo Alto, though it’s a little overpriced if this is going to be a daily excursion.
THE WAIT: A short line at noon on a Tuesday. It was busy there but not overcrowded; we easily got a shaded table outside.
COST: $ 13 for my fish tacos.

The edamame hummus was great! I loved the chunky texture. The Lyfe crackers, toasted grainy flatbread, were amazing too. Veggies were ok, seemed like the quality of one of those storebought veggie platters.
SANDWICHES, WRAPS, & SUCH
* MAHI FISH TACOS (chayote slaw, avocado, cilantro, chipotle aioli on corn tortillas, salsa fresca) — 3 stars
The fish was quite dry. All the toppings & dressings were great for flavor, but the fish itself I was disappointed in.

This kind of new american cuisine is literally everywhere now, no exaggeration. I think restaurant like this really needs to put some more efforts to impress people since numerous places offer similar fair.
People want to live a healthy life style and tend to eat clean and go vegetarian sometimes. I ordered a grilled veggie salad and a kale banana smoothie here. I am not a vegetarian at all but happened to be in the mood that day. My salad is filled with baby spinach, grilled peppers, eggplant, tomatoes and toasted pita bread. The dressing is light and citrus. Nothing special. Personally, I like the kale smoothie better. Not sure if they are using the baby kale or something else in it, no kale taste at all.
Service is almost none here. You order at the counter, pay and get a number. Food will be delivered to you. Self-​service sums up what you get here. Price is about right considering this area and what you get. Table is not very clean. Not a big fan but something healthy is better.

I like this place but I actually like the locations in Chicago more. Here is why…
I usually order the quinoa crunch wrap and both the Palo Alto and Chicago locations make them the same, but the Chicago locations give a side kale salad as well with the wrap. I was disappointed that the PA location does not do this because it adds a nice flavor to the quinoa crunch wrap. I have also noticed that even though the wrap is supposed to come with the fireman hot sauce, sometimes (when I have ordered take-​out), it’s nowhere to be found! That’s disappointing… so now I check before I leave or I make it known when I place the order that the sauce needs to be there.
I have also tried their sweet potato fries, which are yummy! Great addition to any meal. Their veggie burger is not that great. kinda reminds me of a frozen burger. So I just stick with the crunch wrap and the sweet potato fries when I come. I’m curious to try their brunch, but that will be sometime soon I hope!

VEGANS/​VEGETARIANS: Lots of options here; definitely try it out! This restaurant has one of the most helpful menus I have ever seen. Every vegetarian, vegan, gluten-​free, and dairy-​free item is marked as such on the menu. Additionally, all the salads can be made vegan or gf on request, as well as some of the other items.
I was surprised and very excited to find out that the corn chowder was vegan; it turned out delicious as well. I ordered a side salad, and the portion was great, the greens fresh, and came with ample dressing. The sweet potato fries are wonderful, and the sides of vegetables are always cooked perfectly, though they lack much added flavour. I’ve also tried the Thai Red Curry bowl, which comes with wheat berries and a protein of choice. The portion was easily enough for a meal, and the curry was strong, though not spicy. I also love the chocolate budino, which is a satisfying vegan chocolate dessert with chia seeds; I’d highly recommend trying it.
Service is always fast and most of the staff is incredibly kind.
I keep coming back because I have a lot of options here, although the price is on the higher side. (It is in Palo Alto, however, so that could be expected.) The atmosphere is relaxing and well-​lit, and my entire experience here overall has been awesome.

Have ordered from this place for work a few times through orderahead and the food was always pretty decent.
Stopped in here one morning for breakfast and really loved the ambiance. Lots of natural lighting and fresh herbs growing.
I ordered a breakfast burrito with some arugula on the side and a coffee. Food was just average. The ingredients tasted fresh but overall did not have much flavor. The breakfast burrito was also a bit soggy and hard to eat.
My friend had their freshly squeezed oj which eas delicious.
Would come back and try again. Felt like we didn’t make the right menu decisions.

Take out review. They screwed us our order, it was missing 4 out of 13 people’s food.
I had the burger, the meat was overcooked. The sauce is the only thing saving it.

One of my favorite healthy restaurants in the South Bay.
My usual is the Arts Unfried Chicken. I’ve also tasted the chicken parmesan flatbread, and the chicken, mushroom & spinach penne. Both are really good (especially the flatbread — reminds me of a cheesy chicken pizza slice folded in half).
I hear the veggie burger is so so, but I haven’t tried it myself so can’t comment on it from personal experience.
Their house made beverages (called Lyfe Waters) are light, but still with the right amount flavor to make them tasty and easy to drink. I’ve tried the hibiscus beet, orange ginger chia, and ginger mint chia. I don’t really have a favorite of the bunch, all are really good.
Generally the service is good. I’ve had a couple of times where something we ordered should have come with a side sauce. Kinda a bummer, but they’re always fast to correct it if you mention it.

This place has changed a lot since I was here last time (last year). The food quality is not as good as it use to be. The unfried chicken was cold, not even warm so we asked for another one. This time the sides (Brussels sprouts) were super mussy and the chicken was warm only on now side!!!
I had bad experience last time too and bought it was just one if those days but I guess I was wrong! I

I would probably give this place 2.5 stars, but rounding up because service was friendly and fast.
You order at the register and they bring you the food. Water is self serve.
My friend and I both ordered the Art’s Unfried Chicken based on the wonderful reviews on Unilocal.It comes with a side of brussel sprouts, squash, cashew purée, citrusy sauce, and a pile of dried cranberries. My chicken was dry and borderline burnt. Sprouts to squash ratio was highly favorable to the squash, and very mushy, could be easily turned into baby food. Too many cranberries and the citrus sauce was too overpowering. All the flavored in the dish did not marry well and the side textures were too similar– left me wanting more.

Il était très bon et je n’avais pas faim pour la nuit. Le restaurant est un peu cher, mais c’est bon pour une nuit de la semaine quand on n’a pas des temps pour cuisiner. Le service est sympa mais un peu lent. C’est un très bon choix pour le dîner!

I met some coworkers at LYFE Kitchen last week before a client meeting. I had been to a few locations in Dallas, so I knew what to expect and this location lived up to the expectations that I had. For this visit, I enjoyed the unfried chicken with brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, cranberries and a dijon vinaigrette… yummy! I had tried this dish before and it didn’t disappoint this time either. My coworkers had food envy of my dish… that is how good it looks and tastes! The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is bright and inviting and the food is fresh and tasty — a winning combination!

This place was just OK. The concept is meant to be healthy food with full flavor. The food was just simply alright. We ordered the fish tacos and the buffalo chicken wrap. Both were not bad tasting, but they also weren’t particularly yummy.
My fish tacos were low on fish and tasted as if they hadn’t been seasoned enough. With the corn tortilla and cole slaw, it left the dish a little bland. Again, not horrible, but not particularly memorable.
I left this place perfectly content, but I probably would not return; mostly because it’s a little bit out of the way and I could probably do fine just making the dish myself.

Fail. We’d come here on the strength of the experience in the Henderson, NV location. It was a busy Saturday lunch crowd. It’s exactly the same menu, (a few clearly marked vegan items) and so I order the quinoa crunch wrap and sweet potato fries.
The food came quickly for such a busy place, but perhaps that was the problem. The fries were soggy and tasteless. The crunch wrap wasn’t particularly crunchy, and proved to be bland and uninspiring. Definitely not recommended.
I guess if I had to come back, I’d try the vege burger (as I did in Henderson), but I think I’ll just have to avoid. The Peninsula doesn’t have a huge number of vegan options, but I’ve certainly had better.

Every item on the menu is delicious! I haven’t had one dish that was fresh and clean tasting.
I absolutely love the corn soup and the crispy chicken.
The best part is if you schedule a little get together everyone orders at the counter and they bring the food to your table.
Lyfe is great for a delicious healthy alternative.

I have been to Palo Alto many times and have passed the LYFE Kitchen several times, but had never gone in since it always seemed to be crowded and I was in a hurry. This time, it had been a long week at work and this place met my requirements: 1) close to my hotel 2) on my «to eat here» list and 3) they had take-​out.
I had looked over the menu a few times previously, so I had an idea of what I was in for. I used the OrderAhead app on my phone to place my order and schedule the pickup time, then walked over to get it. That whole process was really simple and exactly what I was looking for. when I arrived to pick up my order, it was prepaid (thanks to using OrderAhead) and ready to go. Out the door and on my way in less than 3 minutes.
NOTE: I am not vegetarian, vegan, or anything of the sort, but I don’t mind trying new dishes, even if they don’t have meat in them.
As for the food, I had the Thai Red Curry Bowl with garlic-​lime tofu: «broccoli, eggplant, peppers, peas, wheatberries, thai basil in a coconut curry sauce.» The wheatberries instead of rice was a change for me, but they added texture to the dish that I found nice. Everything was cooked well and, despite my take-​out and travel time, was still warm. For a little more spice in the curry, I ordered some extra chili ginger and cilantro on mine.
It might be a little more expensive than expected, but for Palo Alto, definitely within the proper range. I was happy with the portion size and I will go back.

Such a cute place with really great and refreshing food. The only reason it is not 5 stars is that it is pricey for the quantity you get…
My mom and I had a lunch date here over the holidays and had a great time. She ordered the mahi tacos ($ 10 for 2 small tacos?!) and I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap ($ 9 for an average size wrap). Any sides cost extra. In general both entrees tasted very light, no bold flavors, but it was still really delicious.
I highly recommend the squash and brussel sprouts side, as well as the beet juice. The juice tasted great and was only $ 3 for a large glass.

Came here for a late lunch one Sunday afternoon and this place was kind of empty. This is one of those places where you order first then find a seat and they bring the food out to you. We ordered then found ourselves a nice table outside (it was still warm out so that was nice).
The decorations are nice and it matches well with the atmosphere of the place. The food however, could have been better. I ordered the burger and it was just… not that great. I don’t really know how else to describe it except that it tasted too healthy. The patty was flavorless and the bread was just… stale? I guess that’s what I get for ordering a burger at this type of restaurants?
If anything, get the drinks at the place. I ordered a cucumber mint water and that was delicious!

Whatever you do, don’t order the veggie burger.
I’ve been off meat for like 8 years and 2 bites of that hard, tasteless patty, stale-​ass bread, and charred beyond recognition «cheese» and I was ready to get back on the midnight meat train, STAT.
I usually try to find something decent to say about the stuff I eat because it’s the closest thing I have to true love but honestly, that burger is f*cking terrible and I have nothing nice to say about.
You’re much better off doing sides if you’re veggie. The sweet corn soup is really good, the banana kale smoothie is iffy– pretty sure the last time I came they added a lot of water or possibly even lemonade to it because is was so thin and crazy sweet. The seasonal Brussels sprout side is great.
If you’re pescetarian I’d recommend you go with the mahi mahi tacos, which are good if you’re on a healthy kick. The cost of them doesn’t quite add up at $ 10 for 2 or you can add a 3^rd taco for $ 3 extra… I kind of want to ask if they can just give me three side tacos and pay just $ 9 instead of $ 13 but I’m usually here for a meeting and never have the balls to duke it out over a few bucks.
Service is also pretty spotty. During the week I’ve never had an issue but on the weekends after 7 its especially poor. Drinks pile up on their counter and your food will somehow come out before your chia water whatever the hell it is. The staff can be seen congregating in back at the kitchen all watching something on kitchen crew member’s phone while the front of the place is left completely staff-​less.
I’m trying to make healthy choices but if I weren’t I don’t know that I’d frequent Lyfe kitchen. Food makes me happy and I just don’t know if its worth it for my mental state to sacrifice flavor.

I finally tried out Lyfe Kitchen. It’s a block away from University on Hamilton. It’s a casual place, you order at the register, pay, get a buzzer, and they bring your food out when it’s ready.
I picked Quinoa Crunch Bowl $ 9 — with tax $ 9.79 charged it. It had qunioa, hummus, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, broccoli. It’s a cold dish served in a bowl. Tasted ok to me.
I wanted a soup, they want $ 3/​cup, almost got it, but changed my mind.
I noticed lots of drivers picking up for DoorDash — Food Delivery.
Lots of tables/​chairs indoors and outdoors.
Separate bathrooms. Women’s had 2 stalls and trough sink.
President Clinton ate here a few years ago. I plan to go back one day.

This restaurant is okay. I had higher expectations.
I came here after work to let loose and enjoy a nice dinner but the food was so incredibly bland that I had to do a double take. I know it’s advertised as healthy but healthy doesn’t have to taste like that. There are a variety of techniques and cooking styles that can be associated with health AND flavor.
We ordered the unfried chicken first, which seems to be a favorite of the restaurant. The one slice of chicken breast is okay. It tasted like, and had the same texture as Tyson’s frozen chicken breasts. Now I’m not sure if Tyson should be impressed or if Lyfe kitchen should be ashamed but it definitely didn’t do wonders for my palette. The brussel sprouts and sweet potato/​Asian pumpkin had a much nicer flavor and not reminiscent of a bag from the freezer. I think they counted on the chicken to be dipped in the brussel sprouts sauce, which is a very weak culinary feat. It was also around $ 13, which is laughable.
The other menu item I ordered was the grass fed burger, which had a nice flavor from the raw red onions, but was otherwise dry and tasteless. Thank goodness for the texture of the bun, because the burger itself does not stand up on its own. I got a side of sweet potato fries, which were ok. It didn’t taste that great and I love those normally. Oh man.
The service was ok. The person taking our order in the front had a very nasty attitude. We were not impressed. Also it looks like they employ the entire Palo Alto HS soccer team. Everyone working in the back were little kids. Nothing against kids but if you’re trying to be a grown up restaurants, maybe hire people who won’t slap each other in the butt with towels. Just my two cents.

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a great experience. LYFE Kitchen is located on Hamilton Ave, away from the crowds on University Ave. Upon arrival, grab a menu and order at the counter.
Grab a table and wait for your food to arrive.

— This seems like baked hard tacos. Seemed healthy!
Mahi Fish Tacos
— Light and refreshing. Fish was nicely grilled and complemented with a side salad.
Sweet Potato Fries
— Baked and came out with a side of ketchup!
Unfried Chicken
— Baked and marinated chicken breast that was both juicy and flavorful. This came with a side of mashed squash and brussel sprouts and squash.
Environment was casual and bright. Staff came by to bring out food and bus tables after we left.
