Kollin Barbara DVM

Dr. Kollin is a great vet. I love having the ability to bring my dog to an environment that is so warm and welcoming. My dog has always been calm at her clinic vs clinics that are not as «homey». Dr kollin is very knowledgable and professional and I’m always confident that the advise and treatment given is medically sound. Her assistant, Katherine, is also quite helpful. I wouldn’t take me pets anywhere else.

I LOVE Dr. Kollin! She was so helpful when I was trying to decide which type of dog would best suit my family and home. She gave me helpful information about what to look for in the litter and took care of my baby as soon as I could bring her home.
My pug Mia is turning 3 this August, and I know she wouldn’t be as smart or healthy without Dr. Kollin’s guidance and expertise. She treats my baby as her own and I know Mia is always in good hands. Dr. Kollin’s assistant is great too. Katherine really knows how to handle each animal to make Dr. Kollin’s job easier and I see that her confidence calms Mia during any treatment Dr. Kollin applies. They are a great team and Dr. Kollin is the BEST Vet!
When it was time to get Mia spayed and a young tooth pulled, she directed me to the best surgeon she knew and when I was nervous about the procedure she helped by explaining what might happened and prepared me with medications that Mia might need. When I picked up Mia that evening it was like nothing even happened, because Mia was feeling so well and full of energy. I am so thankful for Dr. Kollin’s professional recommendation and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my baby Mia.

After having Barbara take care of our sweet Lab for 3 years, she was struggling w/​vision and her hip was barely supporting her. They helped me help my sweet Roxy «go into the light» on the soft grass in her park-​like backyard. They made all the other arrangements and took the emotional overload off my shoulders. They are matter of fact, calm, and caring for animals. We are about to get a new pup (pups) and I started making the appts. to start them off on a healthy new life at our house.
We highly recommend this veterinarian in the fact that she’s in our neighborhood is greatly favorable.

Dr. Kollin is by far the best veterinarian in the area. We were referred to her by someone who raises guide dogs — you know when professional dogs use a vet that she must be good. Our puppy had lots of health issues when he was young and Dr. Kollin and her assistant, Katherine, were caring, empathetic and attentive. They dedicated hours, both during and after our visits, to curing his ailments. She has a network of specialists in the area that she consults with and regularly attends veterinary conferences to learn about cutting edge treatments (she would report back with new solutions when the standard methods didn’t help). Thanks to their efforts, our dog is now happy and healthy.

I am shocked that she still is in business? Let me just preface this by saying, this is literally a backyard business. She sees pets in her backyard and kitchen, which sounds homey and wonderful; however, it is not the most sterile environment. In fact, not only is it dirty, often times you will see used syringes in the driveway or shrubs. She keeps animal medications and vaccines in her home personal refrigerator surrounded with the weeks left over meals. You wouldn’t want to have a meal at this house! She doesn’t believe in computers so your pets health records are on a hand written 3×5 card that she can never seem to locate (due to memory loss) let alone read during your visit. Pet weigh-​ins are unique. Her assistant will hold your pet (regardless of size), stand on a bathroom scale in the driveway, get the total weight, subtract hers, and yell at Vet Barb through the window with your pet’s weight. If this sounds like it’s out of the twilight zone, it is! Shocking that she operates this hillbilly operation in the one of the most sophisticated communities in the world. There are plenty of wonderful vet choices in the area. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Your pet deserves better!
Oh, and one more thing… she is extremely arrogant and speaks to her clients like they are idiots!

Dr. Kollin is extremely knowledgeable and she keeps up-​to-​date with the latest research. She consults specialists in the field and is always willing to work through the problem from start to finish. I really enjoy working with her and feel like my dog is in the best hands. She was recommended by two families who have used her for more than a decade. I wish people doctors were more like Dr. Kollin!

My phone conversation with Dr. Kollin was cold and distant. I can not image that she has a warm heart when euthanizing our fur-​babies. Because of this you get 1 star, if I could give you zero I would.
I had to put my cat of 17 years down today. I wanted it to be peaceful and at home vs stressed at a vet hospital. I called her today and she said «She doesn’t work on Sundays» and then asked where I lived. She said she doesn’t come to Redwood City.
Why ask you are not working today! Can you at least show compassion? Say you are sorry but… I realize this is a business for you but at least show compassion or don’t answer your phone!
Another veterinarian from Palo Alto came to my home on a Sunday and was so kind on the phone I knew I made the right decision.

Dr. Kollin is a very good vet. She cares a lot about the animals she sees and is very practical about the treatments she recommends.
My dog is also very comfortable in the backyard where she practices.

My dog has been seeing Dr Kollin since she was a puppy. I have never had a vet be more thorough and caring with my pet. When we arrive, my dog gets excited to see her and does not start shaking like she used to in other vet offices! She is happy and content. I find Dr Kollin to be extremely knowledgeable and up to date on procedures, meds and research. I would highly recommend her services for your pet.

I am so fortunate to have a such a great vet, Barb, and assistant Kitty, right across the street. They are both patient, kind, informative, and their love of animals is obvious. Also, Barb knows when to refer to a specialist, and doesn’t hesitate to do so when warranted. They both have a great sense of humor, and listen patiently to all my questions and concerns. I know without a doubt, that all my dog and cat needs are in excellent hands!

I’ve seen Barb Kollin for 15 years, 10 with my first dog, 5 thus far with my current dog. Barb and Kitty are a dynamic duo, I would never go elsewhere. Both are smart, patient, caring and excel at what they do. My dog loves both of them, what better testimony than that! Over the years I’ve referred a number of people, everyone has been pleased. Thank you Barb and Kitty, you really are the best!

Dr. Kollin is one of the best Vet’s I have ever known. I have been fortunate to be able to bring both our two Dogs and Cats to Barbara. Barbara and her assistant Katherine, have always been wonderful to our pets and have helped keep them healthy for the past 15 years. Barbara is an excellent diagnostician, and has never stopped learning. Your pets will benefit greatly from her commitment to her profession.
Barbara is always willing to refer to another vet in special circumstances and I am confident that you will not find a better team to take your pet to in this area.

Dr. Barb Kollin is a WONDERFUL vet! She has taken excellent care of our pets! She is very accessible, knowledgeable, great with the animals and enjoys what she does. Dr. Kollin is incredibly SMART and diagnosed a situation with one of our pets that was overlooked by other vets. I can’t say enough good things about her! She really deserves ten stars — or better yet — 1,000 stars!
