Went to Jim Davis Automobile to get my smog check done. They put air in my tired while I waited. Nice! They ended up not being able to do my smog check but called the company down the street and informed them that I was coming. They told me where to go and the guy was right there waiting for me. Basically, BJ went out of his way to find the company that could do my smog check instead of just coming to me and saying sorry we can do it.
Also, he was super nice! They were all so nice. I’m thinking I might use them as my car repair place.

Excellent Service. Talked with Michael about present versus major maintenance in 2,000 miles. Helped me save money and plan for major work in a few months.

This place was recommended to us by several colleagues, which is why we chose to bring «our» Honda in for a pre-​purchase inspection ($ 70). We arrived a bit early– not a problem. We were told on the phone when we booked the appointment that the inspection would take 1 – 2 hours. It took 1.5 hours, nice. The inspection is documented on paper and you get a brief oral summary. These guys are friendly and provided excellent service. We will definitely be using this place from now on. Thanks Brian and Michael!

I’ve looked everywhere trying to find the right mechanic shop. My search ended 5 years ago when I finally found this shop. Brian has worked on my car a lot and I have and still do recommend him. But all the guys at this shop are a team. They work well together and most important to me… I know without a doubt that I can trust ther professional opinions when it comes to my cars.

Really truly amazing service. I have taken my two cars (Prius and Lexus) here for three years for routine service as well as significant repair work. Jim Davis always provides truthful opinions, expert work, and the best prices around. Mike always tries to give you a reasonable price and sometimes even throws in things for free. I won’t ever take my car anywhere else.

I received my car back this afternoon after having an ignition switch replaced and Michael showed me the faulty switch that was replaced. I’m, overall, a very happy customer and will definitely bring my car back. If only I knew about this place sooner! :)

Been taking my cars to Jim Davis Auto for regularly scheduled maintenance since 2003. I can attest to their friendly customer service and hard-​to-​find ethics. None of my cars has ever needed major work thanks to the great job the guys do to take care of them. So very nice to see folks work like they take pride in what they do. I’m a grateful customer.

My headlight was not working. While one shop was asking 100 bucks only to diagnose, I took it to Jim’s.
Brian took a look at it without even asking for money and found that a wire was loose. He plugged the wire in its right spot. When I wanted him to pay, he said, it was no work so, he can’t take any money.
I am coming here again, if I need to visit an auto repair store. Recommended !!

Jim’s always come through for us. Today we found a nail in our tire. We took it to Jim’s, they patched at no charge. When we need to replace the tire we will definitely give our business to Jim Davis. I have totally confidence on anything Michael tells us.

Called about having a tire patched. They were able to squeeze me in that hour and send me on my way in less than 10 minutes. Thank my lucky stars the nail didn’t puncture the sidewall!

He only charged me $ 15 including tax on a credit card to fix the hole in my tire on my German sports car. And he did it quickly and with a smile. Always answers the phone promptly and answers questions efficiently. Never tries to upsell. Can’t believe he fixes cars, haha. Please, please don’t ever change, Jim Davis!

I’ve taken my 98 Subaru Legacy to Jim Davis Automotive for several years. Mostly for the large mile maintenances, but also the occasional repair. I always found them to be efficient with good prices, and willing to answer all my questions.
And now that I’ve moved to Oregon, I needed some advice about repairs suggested by another mechanic here. I called them up, and they provided the answers without hesitation. I definitely wish they were up here.

I came here for a last minute smog check and oil change. Awesome service! Very friendly. They quoted me 3 hours, but got the car done before that. Thanks again!

Having grown-​up in Palo Alto, you get to understand the value of trustworthy service from the Mom-​and-​Pop shops in your neighborhood. For as long as I can remember, my family has been coming to Jim Davis for every car trouble we’ve ever had, and they’ve come through for us each and every time.
It’s always been those emergency situations where I’ve had to drop-​off my truck with them at 8 in the morning or 5 in the afternoon, and they’ve always been understanding to my situation. It’s never been difficult to deal with these guys, and they are always courteous with updates and letting me know how things went.
I joined Unilocal specifically to give my praise for these guys, as it is well deserved and goes beyond the simple words of thanks.

I haven’t been here in a while but have been taking my car here for sometime and have always had great experiences. Michael and his team are very experienced are are able to tell you what is going on with the car and give you a reasonable price for fixing it.
My most recent experience came with a Honda Civic. I had had some overheating problems and had given it over to pep boys (they ended up having the car for over three weeks on and off, never really fixed the problem and charged me $ 1500 for the privilidge) Jim Davis took a look at the car, understood what my symptoms meant in terms of repair and were able to fix everything in a day.
I’ve literally taken the car in the day before thanksgiving and had same day turnaround.
They are also good about telling you if you need something fixed but whether its a priority. They won’t change something or fix something unless it needs replacing and will give you a realistic estimate on when you should come back.
The downside is that they are only open during the week. I live in San Jose but will always come here over anywhere else.
My Honda is dead now of old age but I will certainly be coming here to have any potential new car checked out and all my future servicing needs taken care of.

I’m not sure Jim Davis Automotive is as good as it used to be. The guy on the phone was kind of rude, asking me «what did I mean» by an oil change, and «what did I expect [him] to do in a tuneup.» I think he was just trying to make sure we were on the same page, but I felt put on the spot. Also, to do a tuneup (I said I just wanted to make sure my car was okay, because I was about to go on a road trip), he said he’d need «at least half a day.» Uuuum… That’s okay. Instead, I went to Elite (on the corner of Stanford Ave. and El Camino Real) and was super happy with them.
