Heshmat Pain Management Clinic

I have been going to the Heshmat Pain Management clinic as of February. I had a slip and fall down a flight of stairs and the stairs won. I was black and blue, limped with pain, had lost feeling in my fingers and arm, it was ugly painful fall. Dr. Heshmat started with a basic treatment to measure and ease the pain, it was like magic. I could not believe how much better I felt after the first visit! I really didn’t know if this was going to work and to my surprise it did amazingly.
During my third visit, it was recommended to change my sleeping pillow to assist with the healing of the neck, which was sore and difficult to turn. And like most overworked people I have TMJ and have been know to crack and break my teeth at night from grinding. I tried the pillow the first night with some joking from husband, but the next morning I awoke to no pain in my jaw and less pain in my neck from the fall. It took me a few nights to adjust to the pillow, but now I sleep with the proper support under my neck which allows me to stop grinding my teeth a night and wake up refreshed with the additional head and neck support.
The staff is amazing, knowledgable and down right friendly. I have never received such wonderful customer service in Palo Alto in many, many years.

I have never posted a review on Unilocal before but I have had such great service at Heshmat that I had to write a review. I have been seeing Toma, who is a massage therapist there, for over 6 months. I had extreme knee pain and went to see a specialist who recommended I stay off my knee. Toma thought it may be my IT band and she was correct. I have absolutely no knee pain. She has also helped me with shoulder, neck, and back issues from being on the computer. She really listens to your concerns and addresses your needs accordingly. I always feel so relaxed, pain free and ready to go back to work again after seeing Toma.

I have not had treatment at Heshmat Pain Clinic yet, but I want to give Dr. Heshmat a great review, because not only did he answer the phone when I called (several other chiropractic places did not), he helped me over the phone and gave me some great suggestions. I’ll definitely go here if I decide I need to have «hands on» to help my problem.

I received acupuncture treatment from Minal Patel and had a massage therapy session with Toma. They both did an excellent job and Minal really took the time to understand what my specific issues were and tailor her acupuncture treatment to relieve some of the stress and pain I was feeling. It was the most relaxing acupuncture session I have had and I am definitely coming back again for some more treatments.
Toma did an excellent job in focusing on my pain point areas and I felt very relaxed during and after the session.

Classic Bate & Switch. I called to make a new patient appointment, informed them of my healthcare provider and how it mentioned they were in-​newtork. The gladly took my appointment, and made no mention of the fact that they ARE NOW OUT OF NETWORK FOR ALL INSURANCE PROVIDERS. After arriving and filling out all my paperwork, they tell me the great news, and how I could seen with an initial assessment fee of $ 200.
Thank you for wasting my day waiting for this appointment and ruining my chances of getting the help I need. This is a place with slimy business practices, out to make money, with a secondary interest (at best) in helping people.

They’re healers, not a business. Latest in technology and knowledge. The electropulse and acuscope are not painful; you just need to tell him to go a little lighter. The doctors (both Heshmat) take a lot of time to listen.
Their massage therapists are wonderful. Toma is very intuitive, sensitive, intelligent, and knowledgeable and Amalia has acupressure and acupuncture experience and is also sensitive.

I visited the clinic to try acupuncture. They had a special for 3 sessions for $ 99 and I figured I’d check it out since I never tried acupuncture in my life. I was able to schedule 3 appointments in about two weeks and I met Minal Patel, board certified acupuncturist and herbalist. The first session was interesting. Since I never experienced acupuncture, it was a new experience. Dr. Patel stuck a few needles in my hands and feet to try to relax the tension in my body. I laid face down for about half an hour. I then walked away and nothing really made any difference. The next day I tried to think if acupuncture was beneficial but I could not agree it was. The second visit was roughly like the first one. I laid down, got stung, walked away and didn’t feel any improvement. The third visit was a little different because I arrived for my appointment before 6PM and I was told somebody before me was late so I needed to wait. Now I’m asking myself why the hell should I wait behind somebody who is late? Why should I waste my time? I really don’t care the reason why the person before me was late. I was on time and I had an appointment. Instead of telling the patient before me that time was up, I ended up waiting for 17 minutes. At that point Dr. Patel told me to walk in the acupuncture room. As usual, just like the previous two sessions, she did her job and removed the needles. At the end of the treatment she asked me if what she was doing was helping. I told her that, honestly, I did not feel it was helping at all. Aside from the fact I just felt like I was being stung and it’s not necessarily a fun feeling, even for someone who is not afraid of needles, the entire session was fairly useless, at least for me. Dr. Patel then told me I might need something more aggressive than acupuncture. I walked away disappointed, knowing that I wasted my time driving over to the clinic from San José and wasted about $ 100 I could have spent otherwise. Dr. Patel is professional but not particularly friendly. I just feel she does her job and that’s all. All in all I am not impressed with acupuncture and I doubt I’ll ever do it again.

I’ll keep it simple… The electric pulse-​type therapy was okay — painful but sort of worked to make it better, but never made it back to being fully healed (which they said it would) and I stopped because it was getting expensive without real results. Staff was friendly enough, although the people actually doing the treatments (which was rarely Dr. Heshmat) didn’t seem to have much background experience or knowledge in medicine or the specific treatments I was receiving.
The real issue I have had is with their billing department. They assured me I was in-​network and my treatments would all be fully paid by my insurance — then they made a mistake and billed all of my treatments as out of network which resulted in a lot of confusion and about 4 months of back-​and-​forth with my insurance company to get it straightened out. Then, two months later, I received about 10 appointments worth of bills/​benefits explanations from my insurance from Heshmat again… for appointments I didn’t have… Turns out they had accidentally been billing me for another patient’s services because that patient had the same first name. The same first name?!? Don’t you check last names when patients come in? I mean really — come on… AND then that resulted in another 6 months of confusion with my insurance company. Even though I should have been pissed, I was very nice and accommodating in helping them work out the issue with my insurance to get it fixed. I figured «mistakes happen» and just let it go… AND THEN ?
Here we are, almost a year later, and they had the nerve to send me a small bill for the little amount of money that I may or may not owe them. I don’t even know if the bill is legit because the process has been so convoluted and riddled with mistakes that I have completely lost track! It would be one thing if I had a large outstanding bill with them that effected their practice’s profitability, but to send a minor bill (about $ 100) after costing me 10 months of waiting to fix it all (meanwhile my chiropractic insurance was held hostage and I couldn’t go get any treatments until this was cleared up), and countless hours of excruciating phone calls with my insurance company to resolve an issue that was completely their fault — now THAT pissed me off. If they had an ounce of customer service awareness, they would never send such a bill. Instead, I now have to spend more hours going back to figure out why they think I owe this money, call my insurance, call them…
Seriously — can we just be done with this?

I purchased a Groupon for the acupressure massage with Minal Patel. I was really surprised when I tried to schedule an appointment and discovered she is only in the office M-​W-​F …which is just my bad luck, since I have childcare on Tues-​Thurs. Also, I was surprised to learn that even though the acupressure itself is only 25 min, there is an initial 30min assessment. So — I rearranged my schedule, asked my husband to get home early, and booked the latest appointment at 6pm on a Monday. Then… the office calls to tell me 1hr before my appointment, that Dr. Patel needs to cancel — with no explanation or offer to reschedule. UGH… Huge waste of time, very unprofessional and I decided to just get the credit back from Groupon (no refund since it was more than 7days past date of purchase). I would tell anyone looking to get a «bargain» massage to look elsewhere.

This is the best chiropractic office i have been. The Electro-acuscope’s high degree of effectiveness in non-​invasive pain relief and promotion of healing is based upon a series of electric and electromagnetic manipulations of the patient’s tissues.

Had one of the best massages ever here today. The woman who massaged was professional and clearly understand muscle groups and pressure. She used lotion and was careful not to get in my hair. Lighting, music and ambiance were great. Will return!

My husband and I go to Dr. H for treatment and we really like it here. Great people and great treatment.

I had an appointment at Heshmat last week. I was impressed with the service.
Specifically I was happy with the focused attention that I got towards an old injury (hamstring) and careful adjustments I got for my neck and back.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Heshmat as a chiropractic or pain management clinic and will look forward to coming back here.

I Highly recommend Dr. Heshmat and the services they provide there. I am so happy that my friend told me about this place. I went there for knee problems and Dr. Heshmat seriously examined me in the first meeting. My problem was also treated on that same appointment, which I did not expect. Moreover, since my insurance covers for the treatments there I also go there for acupuncture, which has been great so far. The only bad thing that I can say about the clinic is that it feels pretty old. They need to put some emphasis on decoration and renovation.

Today I came here for my 3^rd acupuncture session with Minal Patel. It’s great to be able to get chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage here in the same clinic, all covered within my insurance plan for chiropractic care.
My first 2 acupuncture sessions here this past month were to focus on some tightness and minor pain in my lower back and arms/​wrists, as I do a lot of physical work as a massage therapist and marathon runner (both help me with my endurance).
For those 2 sessions Minal applied needles in my neck and shoulders, lower back, wrists, and ankles. She also applied cupping to my upper back and lower back which was interesting — strong suction, like the opposite of massage but similar effects.
Today I had some acupuncture applied to my face — right jaw, ears, ankles, wrists, and hands, to help with some pain in my jaw and hands, as I massaged a client with TMJ earlier this week, and maybe I inherited some of her pain??? No cupping today.
The acupuncture here seems good. My pain seems to have gone down afterwards or recurrence is much smaller. My first experience with acupuncture last year was a little painful as one of the needles hit me with sharp pain in the hand; other needs were OK. That was at Five Branches in San Jose. But here it’s not that painful. The needles are small so I just feel a small sting from each one, less painful that a typical blood draw or a blood donation needle, which I’m used to every month.
The nice thing here is that I can try acupuncture, massage, and chiro, and mix them all together to be able to help myself in different ways, as the body reacts differently to each type of treatment.

Dr Heshman is not all about signing u up for a bunch of visits he wants to see you and cure you and then let you live a life that is free of pain. he’s got a great style with patients and great tools to help diagnose the cause of pain and he knows the best way to treat you for maximum results. ive used him several times and can recommend him without any concern. Great guy and super cool staff too!

The team at The Heshmat Pain Clinic is awesome. They know how to make me smile!

Friendly and professional. Having a great deal of experience with many different Chiropractors I can say Dr. Heshmat is one of the best. He takes a real holistic and consultative approach to making you feel better. If you need a Chiropractor I would give him a try.

I came to Heshmat Pain Management Clinic for their Groupon massage deal ($ 40 for a normally $ 90 hour-​long massage). I was massaged by Linda, and I have to say that she was better than most. I made a return appointment and have been very happy so far. Not sure I’m happy enough to pay full price though.

I have no experience with the chiropractic care or acupuncture; only with massage.
I actually feel bad writing a less than positive review since nothing terrible happened. But truthfully, the massage was sub-​par, the room was small and very unimpressive, and the massage therapist was only moderately friendly.
