Description

Specialties

Offering flat fee estate plans for individuals and couples. Free ½ hour telephone or in-person consultation. Many of my clients are professional couples, people going through divorce, and psychotherapists in private practice. As a psychotherapist, many times I sat across from a client thinking, «You need a lawyer at least as much as you need me.» As a lawyer, I have found my background in psychotherapy to be useful in a variety of contexts. When advising a client on estate planning options, I try to consider the impact certain decisions may have on family relationships. A common example relates to the choice of a guardian for minor children. Often people wonder if the guardian of the child should also control the trust money used for the child. The «correct» answer differs wildly depending on the client’s particular situation. In the context of other services (e.g. probate), my psychology background has helped to achieve results when dealing with challenging third parties.

History

Established in 2011.

After practicing as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist* for five years, Gadi Zohar went back to school to attain my law degree in 2007. Early in his law school career, he found himself more interested than he ever thought he would be in trusts and estates law and he has not looked back! After an internship at the Santa Clara County Probate Court and a stint at a law firm in San Jose, he moved his services closer to home. He now gets to do what he loves in the community that he loves. * Gadi Zohar does not offer psychological counseling or psychotherapy.

Business Owner

Gadi Zohar’s law practice consists exclusively of trusts and estates law, including Estate Planning, Probate, Trust Administration and Beneficiary Representation. He grew up in Tampa, Florida. After attending University of Florida for his undergraduate degree, he had the influential privilege of backpacking through more than twenty countries. In 1998, he earned his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. In 2006, he and his wife, Amy, moved to Menlo Park, where they currently live with their two children. Before the birth of his daughter, he and Amy decided on a career change. Four days after his daughter was born, he sat for the LSAT. During law school, Gadi’s son was born. After a stint at a top trusts and estates law firm, Gadi focused his services closer to home. He finds his work especially fulfilling, because he is working in the area of law that he truly enjoys and serving a community to which he feels connected.
