Specialties
Fieldguides Inc., founded in 1983, is a small, non-profit outdoor education organization dedicated to teaching people to enjoy, learn about, and care for the outdoor environment. At Fieldguides Outdoor Education we work with schools and youth groups to provide custom science camp and gold rush programs with a standards-based, experiential curriculum. What makes our program special is our family-style camping format.
History
Established in 1983.
Fieldguides was incorporated as a non-profit educational organization in 1983 by Jessie and James Camp. Together they still run the organization administratively and on-site. FIeldguides has been providing outdoor education programs along the Central and Northern California coast and in the Sierra Nevada foothills for 30 years. The organization’s objectives include immersion in nature using a camping format, and a family-style atmosphere where teachers and parent chaperones can leave all logistics and educational activities to the field guides, and enjoy being with the children.
