I really wish that I were posting a five-star review after using them. I emailed the agency instead of calling, because other people had so strongly recommended that here. That was several days ago, and I still haven’t gotten a reply. I am sure the people ARE wonderful, and the interpreters are probably amazing. Being able to get ahold of and schedule an interpreter is the most important thing. I would rather use a mediocre interpreter that I can actually get ahold of than a fantastic one who doesn’t get back to me.(Actually that’s not true; I’d try the fantastic interpreter first every time. But it wouldn’t matter how good they were if I couldn’t get ahold of them!) I had high hopes because I finally got permission at work to hire interpreters through an agency instead of using the scattered handful of people we know personally. I guess that I will keep having high hopes and see who I can find that is easier to schedule with?

Deaf Services is a top notch organization. Very professional and uses excellent interpreters and quick service. I have worked off and on with Janet for years and I would recommend DSPA in a heartbeat.

I am a chemistry graduate student and have had the pleasure of working with DSPA for over six years as the primary provider for my interpreter services. Chemistry is itself a very specialized field, and, when I came to Stanford, Janet Lewis(the owner of the agency) was instrumental in ensuring that I had the best interpreters available. DSPA has time and again demonstrated their commitment to excellence in serving its Deaf clients, and has made a name for itself as the best sign language interpreter agency in the Bay Area that I have worked with. I would heartily recommend DSPA to anyone who has a desire for extremely professional and highly skilled interpreters.

DSPA is an AMAZING agency. I’ve work with their roster of interpreters on a weekly basis for the past few years and have never been let down. They are down-to-earth and very capable and provide the best service possible. The idea of having a Deaf client go without interpreting makes them cringe so you know their heart is in the right place in this profession. Mind you, I’ve had my fair share of terrible interpreters and I’ve been working with interpreters for 16 years of my life, so it’s a big deal for me to say that this agency is an all-around high-quality interpreting service.
