We are now proud to offer door to door service for your convenience, at no extra charge. Laundress’ employees are all well-​trained and experienced. From when we receive your garments until they are returned to you, your clothes go through a 6-​step quality inspection process and 2-​step quantity check process. We ensure your clothes will have no creases or wrinkles that should have been pressed out, no stains or spots that should have been removed, or any buttons missing that should be replaced. We take the utmost care so that none of your clothes will be lost or misplaced. Delivery on-​demand: schedule online, and no need to be home.

AJ’s Cleaners was established in Palo Alto in 1962 by the AJ Bena family. The Choi family has been proudly serving customers since 1989. Our family has been committed to providing eco-​friendly cleaning and excellent customer service for over 26 years.

I’ve been a customer for easily 20 years. Over that time they’ve sometimes been worthy of 5 stars and on rare occasion 3 stars. If I rated just their dry cleaning and dress shirt processing, I’d give them 5 stars. But wash and fold has occasionally lost an item, usually a towel or washcloth.
The owner, Chris, is unbelievably conscientious and capable. I’ve never seen him make a mistake, and he seems to remember everyone’s name and everyone’s laundry. When there has been a problem, Chris has moved mountains to fix it.
At this point I wouldn’t even consider going to any othe cleaner. AJ’s is not perfect, but none of their competitors is perfect either. They get my business.

Totally forgot to pick up the boyfriends clothes. Called them when they’re already closed and the owner Chris is kind enough to wait for us.
They don’t use toxic dry cleaning chemicals which is a plus! 18 shirts and 11 pants for $ 110.
Wouldn’t go anywhere else…

Terrible. Overpriced and incompetent. Damaged the buttons on a $ 300 shirt and also failed to get out the stain. Furthermore, they are incapable of following simply directions, such as: please do not hang my cashmere sweater over a wire hanger that will stretch out the shoulders. This place is literally across the street, and I still will never go here again.

I’ve had plenty of perfectly fine dry cleaning experiences here, but it was the way they handled a lost shirt situation that really impressed me. Not only did they find the shirt, but they were very prompt and apologetic about the mishap, and the next time I came in the owner recognized me as someone he still owed a favor, and gave me a discount coupon for my next purchase.

Ruined a $ 100 WHITE shirt – very obviously washing it with something colored that bled. They can stick the «$ 10 off your next order» coupon where the sun don’t shine – will never, ever, ever go there again.

I’ve been a customer for the past 4 years, wash & fold and dry cleaning. The friendly staff and convenience (just a couple of blocks from home) was worth the higher prices… Except, the mess they have in the shop finally caught up with them! This year (since January) they have managed to lose so many items, never mind socks and small items, but actually jackets, blouses, and full bed sets?! That’s too much. At first they were offering refunds on the items, but at the 5th time, I started making bets with myself about what item would go missing next.
When the dry cleaning items also started coming back with «stain not removed» lables on a regular basis, it became clear it was time to move on and find a better place, which btw was not difficult to find in palo alto. bye AJCleaners!

Disappointed with the service I received. I brought in several formal outfits that had been badly stained and they quoted me less than $ 40 to clean the stains. When I picked them up the woman who brought them out just muttered, «Stains didn’t come out» and rang me up for $ 55. What the heck? They looked like they weren’t even cleaned! I understand it might be impossible to get the stains out, but in that case, I’m not sure what I’m paying for… not to mention that it’s well over what they quoted me.
I’ve brought things in for wash and fold before and that was fine, but I don’t think I’d bring anything in for dry cleaning again.

I come here to wash my comforter, because my stacked unit in my apartment is too small. Once I misjudged the time it would take to dry my comforter, and the person working stayed a little later so my comforter could dry. What an awesome guy! Also, conveniently located next to Philz Coffee.

They didn’t thoroughly clean half of my 7 items I brought in for something extremely minor. I wasn’t going to accept it so then they made me wait for an extra couple days for something that should’ve been done in the first place.

This review is for the laundromat, not the dry cleaning service. I have never used their dry cleaning service, and frankly would not use it after my experience with their laundromat. The laundromat is disgusting and dirty with most of the machines broken. I struggled to find any machines that worked. Also not clearly labeled as to which machines are broken so I had the pleasure of dragging my items from machine to machine until one would take my quarters. The dryer I finally used was old, inefficient and expensive. I had to run my items multiple times to get them to dry. The drying alone probably cost me double what it would have elsewhere. Worth the trip across town to avoid utilizing this dirty, old, broken down laundromat.

This place is just so close to my house that I can’t not come here for dry cleaning. Plus there are some perks to coming here, such as being right next door to Philz Coffee. The dry cleaning here is supposed to be Green, so I suppose that’s a plus as well. For the times that I’ve brought my nice stuff to get dry cleaned, it has always turned out well. No nasty chemical smells, and all the stains end up coming out. It also helps that the staff here is incredibly nice.
The turnaround time is pretty decent. I dropped off a down jacket on Friday, and it was ready for pickup on Wednesday. They got most of the stains out of my jacket, but there were still some lingering stains.
This time, I ended up snagging a Unilocal deal ($ 30 for $ 20). At that price, this place, compounded with its close proximity, is a no brainer.

Love these guys — they’re walking distance from our house, and I’ve been bringing them my husband’s shirts and all our dry-​cleaning forever. They’re fast, they have gotten out impossible-​looking stains, the service is cheerful and friendly, and the owner and staff make you feel like family. Great alterations, too — and I particularly appreciate their honesty about things that can’t/shouldn’t/don’t need to be dry-​cleaned. At a time when a lot of businesses seem to be all about the bottom line, AJ’s seems to be a place that’s much more than that.
Also? Right next to Philz coffee, so if you need to wait for a load of laundry or just want to combine a trip to the dry-​cleaners with a really great cup of coffee, the location can’t be beat!

Okay, this is the first time I felt really let down by Unilocal; I was disappointed in this place. (Note: This review is for the laundromat, not the dry cleaners.)
Here’s what I expect from a good laundromat: Mostly working machines, heat in the working dryers when set to «high,» clean floors, a sink to rinse one’s hands in, a bathroom, non-​overflowing garbages.
I don’t really look for funky art on the walls, ceilings and machines, nor for a wide selection of reading material scattered about the place, nor for a great coffee place next door. No points off for these, but no points added either (unless all my other criteria are met & the kitsch just works for me that day).
Aj’s laundromat had none of the former but all of the latter. That’s a shame, because given the upscale location, surrounding establishments and worthy kitsch, I really wanted to like this place. As it is, I’ll be rolling the dice on a different laundromat next time I run out of clothes.

AJ has become my go-​to cleaners for dress shirts and such in the area.
The owners and other employees have always been extremely friendly with me — typically remembering my name, ignoring their usual credit card minimums, having the shirts done a day early, that sort of stuff. By and large the cleaning has been done well and on time. And the (very few) times they’ve made a mistake, they have gone out of their way to correct it.
