Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft

I love shopping as JoAnn’s, the value and the coupons have me hooked. I always use as many coupons as possible. I mean honestly who wouldn’t. Today I had the best experience ever! I accidentally forgot a coupon and realized as soon as I paid. I let Victoria know and she asked me to wait just a minute. I did she double checked to make sure it would be valid for my purchase and then did everything necessary to re-​enter my entire purchase to use my coupon. Never was there any attitude or irritation just super friendly and positive service. Thank you so much again Victoria I hope you see this you are amazing.

Went in today hoping to be greeted and helped because I had to get a lot for my Scooby Doo cosplay but the none of the sales associates spoke to me even to say hello. Still, love them because they literally have EVERYTHING you will need in terms of costume and craft creation and one time a sales associate gave me a discount so that was nice.

I have been shopping at this Jo-​Ann location for years. I would say it’s likely you would find me at Jo-​Ann more than my own home specifically from August to November due to my absolute love for Halloween and all things Fall. And frequently throughout the year as I have an Etsy shop and need supplies from time to time. Suffice it to say, I spend plenty of time here.
I mainly shop for tulle fabric. Yarn, floral, and seasonal would be among my other top purchases. I would like to see more color options for the tulle and the floral department is not very good unless it’s Spring/​Summer time. Though, I’m sure that just depends on what you’re looking for. The store is kept very tidy and items are always well stocked. Honestly, I’m not sure where the complaints are coming from in these other reviews. I’ve been to other Jo-​Ann locations and you couldn’t pay me to shop at them. I recently visited a Jo-​Ann in Tigard, OR and it was horrendous. The store was incredibly outdated, unorganized, fabric thrown everywhere (mostly the floor). It was heartbreaking. I guess some people don’t know how good they have it with our Jo-​Ann Fabric!
HOWEVER. My reason for docking a star would be due to customer service. There are a lot of great people who work here and I love seeing them on occasion. Others, not so much. Not that I want to perpetuate ageism and/​or sexism but most of my issues have stemmed from the middle-​aged women with bad attitudes who work here. You know who I’m talking about. They have chronic RBF and stare at you with the worst «IDGAF» face upon asking them a question. It just gets awkward after a while. When dealing with these employees, I end up having to either seek out another employee or just figure it out on my own. Not sure if it’s because I only shop in the morning now but I rarely ever run into these rude employees anymore.
Shoutout to Jodi, Luis, and pretty much anyone at the cutting counter in the morning. I don’t know any of these people personally but they make my crafting life a little easier and for that I am grateful! :D

I placed a special order for two different upholstery fabrics and the young girl learning the system accidentally ordered the same fabric twice, which was discovered when I went to pick up the order. The manager, Robert, and his associates handled the situation so well that I am still a happy customer of the Palmdale store.

Custom service was great. Not only did they have what we needed. But they were very helpful. And Kathy our cashier was very knowledgeable and friendly.

DON’T EVER order matting or frame from there. You’ll wait forever for it and they are extremely rude about it. The manager is awful… and that’s putting it gently. I almost punched him for real. If it wasn’t for fabric, I won’t shop here.

I worked there a few months back all the managers are terrible. If you ask if they might have more stock in the back and they say no without checking don’t believe them most times there is plenty overstock ! Everyone is rude there especially Adolfo the store manager. If you have a problem don’t even bother they will just pretend to hear you out and as soon as you walk you they will laugh about you. I would not shop here if I were you.

Great experience. Employee was so helpful and helped us get the items we needed, and showed us the differences between some items. Plus showed us how to get the Joann app and text coupons. Ended up saving over 50%. Wish all stores had someone this helpful.

the cashier had no idea whatbwas going on… The manager was rude as can be and yelled across the parking lot, «uh, DO YOU WANT YOUR DRINK???» rude, rude, rude and horrid selection.

I love joann fabrics and products always lots of great stuff but the employees here at this location are seriously so rude. The only helpful employee was Ricky. I was buying a zipper today and was using a michaels 40% off coupon (since they «accept» competitors coupons) and the cashier Lorraine rudely tried declining because «michaels doesn’t sell zippers» so I called michaels and confirmed that they do infact sell zippers. the chashier was rude, and lazy rolling her eyes and giving an attitude because she got proved wrong and had to honor the coupon… their employees including the manager Jodi obviously need to be more knowledgable of their jobs!

I spent last week in the AV attending my cousin’s baby shower. We all offered to pay for a part of the shower (food, table rental, cake, stationery, etc) and I was responsible for the décor. I looked online and saw that there was a Joann’s in Palmdale, so I decided to do my shopping there rather than haul everything down from the Bay Area. They actually have a better selection than I anticipated. I moseyed about the store and found some cute things and had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to get. And then I totally lucked out! The sales person who approached me to ask if I needed help, is pregnant and is going to have a baby shower in a few months. She steered me into a completely different direction and had some great ideas for a themed shower. I was just going for general «baby» stuff, but I mentioned that my cousin loves frogs, and she (Cindy? Chris?) helped me assemble a basket of goodies that I was really thrilled to buy. Everyone (especially the expectant mommy) loved the decorations and I was able to do it well within my budget. The only drawback was that there was a bit of a line to check out, but since there are few crafty shops in Palmdale, I guess that’s not so surprising.

I went here looking for a very specific brand of materials and after wandering the aisles in search of them, and when that failed I began to look for an employee. None could be found. When I did happen to run into an employee at last, I told her what I was looking for and she literally scoffed in my face and told me they don’t carry that brand. I tried to explain to her but she walks away while I was talking! How rude! I did end up finding the material because they did in fact carry it, but did not purchase it because the cashier was having a hard time ringing me up and was equally rude. Terrible customer service. Will not be buying from here.

For being such a big store they don’t have many employees no one asks if u need help overall they have a big selection of fabrics

I can usually find what I need here for sewing/​craft projects. But there isn’t much selection when it comes to more fashionable/​modern fabrics so you’ll be hard pressed to find something for someone who isn’t 1) a baby 2) a woman who likes to wear scrubs 3) a 50 yr old man 4) a woman with eclectic tastes
Line for checkout tends to get long sometimes but it goes by pretty fast. Seems like there’s always a sale too so you’re bound to hoard supplies for future projects ($$$). You’ve been warned.

Just picked up four yards of a gorgeous deep royal blue velvet, high quality, and a really decent price. The wait times can be a little long for both the cutting area and check-​out.

This is as close to an art superstore as you are going to get. They have a little bit of everything, and a lot of the most popular craft items. If you are a home crafter then this place may be your Mecca, but if you are a fine artist you will be disappointed. Materials for fine art students may suffice, but for anything higher end (archival, professional) you will find yourself driving down below or shopping online (my method of choice). Still, I find myself their often, picking up supplies to hold me over when I run out.
As a stop-​gap, it rates an A-​OK.
As a store with knowledgebale and friendly staff it deserves ONE STAR. I have never had an employee successfully answer a question I had about any materials, and only twice have I been greeted in a friendly manner.
So, the quick important info is:
Lot of stuff = YES
Knowledgeable = NO
Friendly = NO
Sign up for the coupons online — it is the only reason they get any business.

I love shopping here! They have great prices… most of the time even better prices than Michaels. :)

Since this is the only fabric store around that has some quality fabric at reasonable prices, I am forced to drive to a nearby city and shop at JoAnns often. The local paper has 40% off coupons on Sunday that can be used on any non-​sale item. If you sign up for their monthly mailing you often receive additional coupons — like $ 5 off $ 35 purchase. But most of the time the items I need are on sale and the 40% coupon can’t be used.
Overall the store is much more organized and not as cluttered as it was when the store was in Lancaster.
But the pattern drawers are aways a mess. It just isn’t kept well stocked and patterns are not filed correctly. Even the front of the drawers are not properly labeled. How much time or how hard would it be to correct that?
They have a large turn over of employees and only the employees that have been there for a while can anwers your questions with knowledge. If you have a sewing questions — like how much fabric to buy — ask for Elizabeth. She can quickly answer your questions. If you want to know where things are located in the store, ask for Monica. Both these ladies are accomplished seamstresses and have been with JoAnns for a long period of time. Robert who I believe is an assistant manager is also helpful.
The waiting line at the cutting station and checkout stands are normally too long, and on certain «sale» days, it is a very long wait. They are often «out of stock» on some items, especially threads.
They have a variety of other items similiar to Michaels, silk flowers, picture frames, beads, yarns, scrapbooking supplies, books and magazinesand all kinds of craft, sewing and quilting notions etc. They also do custom picture framing. A friend had some done there and they turned out beautiful and she was able to use a 50% off coupon.
If you want to learn how to sew or do a variety of other things, check out the classes they provide which are reasonable.
But the bathroom is filthy — if you have to use a bathroom while shopping there, go next door to Kohls. Don’t understand why they don’t hire a janitor to take care of the restrooms. I have often seen a guy leave the store in the morning that apparently cleans the floors, why can’t he clean and stock the bathrooms.
Shame on you Joanns for making your guests and employees use dirty unstocked restrooms.
Overall I think the management of this store has a lot of issues that could easily be corrected…
