What a refreshing experience. Home Depot and Lowe’s almost impossible to find someone to help you but not here. You can easily always find someone to help you and answer questions.

Awesome customer service, helped us right away and they were very knowledgeable. We are super happy with this store.

Very poor customer service. I ordered a Budha head and stand I was informed 4 – 6 weeks. Six weeks later no stand and was informed that they only order in Bulk and did not know when it would be in. Went in today to redeem points and had over 2500 K was told oh you can’t redeem them for anything you just collect points. Really stupid sales assistants.

Have been in here a number of times over the past few years. Usually have had good service and accurate information. The last time a few weeks ago was pretty bad.
I’ve been trying to purchase a replacement pole for a pool umbrella. Initially I was told that they would check with the manager and took my name a phone number. After two weeks went back and asked again. Spoke with original salesman who could hardly remember the conversation. Another basically dismissed me because he was more interested in flirting with other shoppers. Finally spoke with the manager who did seem to know what he was talking about. Again took name and phone number and said he would call the next day with the information. Two days later went back to the store only to be told that he was not in until the end of the week. As of today, still no call or follow-​up.
Experiences like this are generally why people dislike the big box stores. While they have a unique selection of merchandise, there are other options in Palm Springs.
The most positive thing I can still say, is that it’s usually easy to get in and out of the store quickly with a friendly smile from the checker.

My husband and I have bought many things here and are absolutely happy. Michael in the patio section has the best customer service ethics, we are one of their loyal customers and will continue to be!!! Great place

The folks at this store are very helpful. Can’t get personalized service at the big box stores.

Went here to pick up several things, and had a coupon for two free keys on my phone. Showed the coupon to the key making guy and he verified that the coupon was good before he started making keys. Got to the checkout counter with my purchases and the keys and the coupon. An older, very unpleasant woman behind the counter said i had to have a printed version of the coupon. I said there is nothing on the coupon that says i needed to print it, that i’d already verified with the key making guy that it was good before i had the keys made, and that most businesses accept coupons on phones or state that you must print it to redeem. Nothing doing. She basically said go F&@! yourself. I can’t imagine their return policy when they don’t honor their obligations on purchases and coupons. Don’t go here!!!

while i always have, liked shopping here. but i purchased a display model holiday tree 3 days ago last one in stock. staffer took in back and box up unit. i got it home, was setting up tree today and it was missing the stand. went to store just now and spoke with 3 store staffers, all just seem to be clueless as to what to do. one asked me who sold it to you. i told them and that staffer was not working. i know i could return it. but seemed all the staff found something else to do to avoid speaking with me. i am going home and build a stand for the tree. lucky i can do this. but will not be buying any more display items from this Pa Springs True Value… funny the staff are always helpful to sell something to me.

I would not recommend shopping here.
After just moving to Palm Springs I needed lots of things so shopped at this store several times spending hundreds of dollars. Sadly, I came to learn that i was not a valued customer here. Very unpleasant experience.

I have always liked TVH. The Palm Desert Store is just incredible! It’s such a pleasure to shop in a beautifully thought out hardware store where everything is displayed neatly and organized so well. Then you have their legendary «Customer Service» every time you need anything. You can keep the GIANT home improvement stores and their self checkout lanes, That’s when I said, uh, NO THANKS to Home Depot & Lowe’s!!! Nothing worse then being asked to wring up your own purchase?!

The Checkers need to check themselves not very friendly or much help. Reminds me of Home depot.

This is the gayest True Value anywhere in the country. Dozens of gay couples buying stuff for their nests. A huge outdoor furniture section for the desert lifestyle. Otherwise, meh. It’s a small-​ish store so it doesn’t have nearly the selection of Home Depot or Lowe’s. I’ve been here three times, and all three times they didn’t have what I needed. Because of the store’s size and their focus on the more «fabulous» aspects (a huge paint section, an even more massive outdoor patio section) it’s a bit of a truncated selection of everything else. Everyone’s friendly as can be and helpful as all get-​out, but I’m batting .000 on getting what I want there. Friendly I can get other places — my time is important to me, so from now on, it’s back to Home Depot or Lowe’s.

I cannot tell you how much I love this place…
First of all, they still believe in customer service… there seems to be a salesperson every 25 feet in this store. I’ve never had to go wandering around to find help… there’s always someone available in the next aisle over… and they’re all as friendly and helpful as can be.
Besides having a great selection of tools and hardware, this is THE place to go for excellent quality outdoor furnishings… Don’t go looking for cheap crap. They leave that to Target… but pillows and cushions in every shade known to humans, one of the best chaise lounges you can buy, and exquisite furniture for the lanai. Naturally, this focus on quality doesn’t come cheap, but they’re presenting options designed to last a lifetime… not a season… They even have a design department, and an in-​house designer available to help you figure out what you’re seeking!
a huge selection of acrylic, pool-​safe table-​ware, a great selection of grills, Umbrellas, grilling parts and accessories, pool equipment and supplies… all available…
My friends and I call this place «The Gay-​Gay Hardware Store» — not only because of the fantastic furnishing section, but the selection of housewares and miscellaneous stuff is wonderful and fun. I can wander around this place entertaining myself for an hour or more… and never feel like I“m not welcome because I’m not buying $ 500 worth of stuff… Hey, I can even get a True Value souvenir t-​shirt in five or six really great colors!

While their prices are higher than Home Depot or Lowes, I still love this hardware store. The store is super clean and the selection of most items is great. While I still go to the big stores for some purchases, this is normally my first stop.

**This is an update to my earlier review which I have left below for reference.** I have to say, that after my initial review I wasn’t expecting too much in the way of changes or even a response but I have been pleasantly surprised. I was recently approached by the store manager while shopping in the store. I guess he recognized me from the profile picture. I go into the store regularly so I can understand why they would recognize me. The manager wanted to offer a personal apology and even thanked me for my frank review and critique. He seemed genuinely concerned about the experience I have in the store and I believe that he (and his crew by association) do care about the experience all their customers have in the store. He assured me that he has been working diligently to improve the front end and I have seen vast improvements myself. If you live in Palm Springs then you’ll want to visit this True Value gem right in tow. It is always good to support local businesses first and who would want to battle the traffic out to the big box stores anyway. They have most anything you would need to get at the big box and even more. No reason to go anywhere else. Thanks to everyone at True Value Palm Springs!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have to say, I have a true love/​hate relationship with this store. I have been in customer service of one sort or another my entire working life. While many might think that would make me hard to please… it is actually the opposite. I am VERY forgiving of less than good customer service. I am the first to notice when an employee is overworked and under appreciated (under supported) by management. I would also be the first to an employee’s aid if they were being mistreated by a rude customer, but that is not usually the case here. This store is stocked with some of the best stuff and they have fair prices for the most part. I find that they have more than enough people working in the store. I am usually asked if I need help finding anything within 10 seconds of being in the store. This is impressive and I find it to be consistent in this store. I find that the employees working in the aisles are more than willing to help and are very knowledgeable about the products they are selling. Kudos to the aisle staff, but my compliant is with the front end staff, the cashiers. Almost always I feel unwelcome by the cashiers, or even as if I am bothering them to pay them for the merchandise I am buying. This is not a one time occurrence. I am usually in the store 3 times per week and would always rather do business here than at Home Depot or the like. I cannot remember once a cashier saying hello or having one call me over to their register. It is amazing to me! There can be 3 cashiers and if I come up to the cash registers and one has a customer and the other 2 are available, they will let me stand there looking in to the air, all the while chatting with one another and ignoring me. I literally have to walk up in front of them and ask if they are open. They usually will say «sure» after they finish their conversation with the other cashier. On numerous times, I have walked up to the cashier only to hear them talking bad about other customers, I have actually heard them say that their customers are stupid and have no clue! After begrudgingly ringing up my sale, I can hardly get a thank you out of any of them. It is ridiculous, and it is the same cashiers all the time. The situation is almost enough for me to go elsewhere, but I just love the store otherwise. It is such a shame they can’t treat their customers with a little more respect. Such a shame!

This Ace hardware was the only hardware store that had rat poison that is. Inside a corn cob. They work well when you have whiley rats and mice.

Home to the oldest staff and the largest selection of lawn ornaments at any True Value I’ve ever been to, which is nothing but fitting for Palm Springs. Surprised they weren’t selling coffins, they could probably make a killing.
All morbid jokes aside, the staff were very professional and courteous and I found what I was looking for. The only thing I’m disappointing about was that I wasn’t offered any hard candy.

The customer service here is consistently outstanding. I have purchased umbrellas, mats and other items for my outside patio here before. I’ve noticed the quality of the products is superior compared to other hardware stores. This week I bought a flag pole only to figure it was the wrong size. I brought it back, very quickly Dan and Scott took charge and helped adjust it to the right size. I was in and out in ten minutes.
A very friendly store, will continue to shop here.

I don’t have a lot of experience here, but for the Items I needed, they had them and ran a professional store.

Truly the nicest True Value store I’ve been too! It is so well organized and they make the merchandise look like eye candy… which is hard to do when you’re talking drawer pulls and lighting! :)
The patio furniture is really higher end than you’ll find at other big box stores but the prices aren’t outrageous either.
I’ve been meaning to stop by this location forever (10 yrs), but somehow in my visits to PS I never managed too. Glad I finally did! The staff is VERY friendly and willing to help. They even carried the small circle insert for a patio table (o-​ring for the umbrella). The clerk gave me a tip to place the ring in hot water to soften before installing into the table. See what I mean about helpful and friendly?
So when u want good ol fashion service but want to see up to refreshing merchandise (tired of the reiterations of Depot, Target, Lowes etc) stop by here.
